I don’t know if you can relate, I grew up very sheltered under emotionally immature parents. It’s a huge responsibility choosing a spouse and it can feel daunting especially when one is ill equipped and have no good role models for a lovingly imperfect respectful marriage. Living in a culture that is accepting or even encouraging of men’s folly also weighed heavily on me (Indonesia). Wives are supposed to be accepting of a man’s mistresses especially when he’s wealthy. Men are frequently tyranni…

Titrating information is important. Over sharing is a thing! Sometimes people do it unknowingly and it simulates false intimacy in strangers. It takes time to find the words. It took me a while to regain my self esteem. It just clicked one day and even during a first date I felt confident to disclose I had been married before. I just led to it by saying, “I’ve been married before”. Eventually I chose to disclose it on my profile. If you’re disclosing it during a date, time it after a certain cam…

Logic can lead us astray too, for example, there are those believe that one family should only have one child, and it was a policy that was implemented to disastrous results. It’s not an infallible thing. What about marriage, why do people enter into it knowing what the statistics are like? It is illogical in that sense. Emotion is an important aspect of a fulfilling life, it is as much information as it is logic. Your example about budgeting, maybe the emotion attached to that is desire, desire…

The short answer is that their psyche is traumatized and needed to embody shadow masculinity to feel safe. They learnt that being feminine is weak. It’s not about you. You just mirror something that they hate about themselves. It’s unfortunate that they need to take the next step of bullying you rather than claiming their own fears. They can’t stand you existing because you embody a threat to their psyche. They don’t see you as a person, they only see you as an idea. They are literally the drama…

Express your feelings. Let me try to put your sentiments in a succinct communicable way. “Darling I’m glad that you are helping me. It’s just that I feel so discouraged because I have this expectation of myself that I should know these things. It makes me feel so inadequate as a woman and sad.” “Darling it hurts when you direct me in a judgmental way.” “Darling I’m so grateful for you, but I’m also torn from feeling insecure and bad inside because you have to dress me.” You’re not a doormat, you…

I remove insoles and run my shoes + insoles in the washing machine on cold with Oxyclean. Lysol laundry additive is a life saver for individuals whose microbiome is especially dank. I would imagine lysol spray into shoes might assist in this. Washed shoes dry well in sunny areas or near radiators. A simple enough process. Frequently changing wet socks is crucial for day to day management and shoes that can’t be washed. Masking the smell might be necessary still in between washes for mild occurre…

Time reveals all things. 14 hours over a couple of dates might be overdoing it and you might be feeling a sense of slowing things down. That might account for the sense of “reservation” as well. For example, you might say, “Well, I had a great time, that’s enough for tonight”. To establish some boundaries. In some cases, people might love bomb and part of the way they attach themselves to you too quickly is by spending endless hours early on and exhaust your capacity for discernment. Having a se…

If he wants to see you again, it might be an opportunity to be more assertive and embodied in your beliefs. You don’t have to step away from uncomfortable situations, you can learn to master it. He enjoyed your company, and perhaps you did also. Figuring yourself and the dating world doesn’t have to be so serious. Learn to have fun as you get to know yourself and the other person better. I am identifying a possible conflict in compatibility and beliefs. It does not sound too promising. I’d make …

I don’t think you should apologize or compromise your standards. It’s important that you are yourself and happy to be yourself if you are to find the person who is compatible to you. Be comfortable in your beliefs and habits, and with that attitude, show him how to feel about who you are. And remember that it is mutual, you too are also deciding whether or not he is a good fit. It’s a yellow light that he’s testing you this way, it sounds like he’s calculating and passively accusing you of some …

Maybe it’s simply stepping into that part of you that hadn’t had a chance to play a dynamic role thus far! Sounds like an adventure :)

You replied to me, and mentioned OP not. Naturally I replied your concerns to you. I said “enough” with lightheartedness that was not expressed well in writing. I apologize for that. I’ve experienced much improvement and do not require a stranger’s validation hence my whatever-ness. Your opinions are valid, so are the many people who have chosen a different way and zoomed out from the treatment of psychological misalignment as it is commonly understood, and the renewed focus on body awareness, i…

Is hyper vigilance, panic attacks, recurrent nightmares, sleeplessness, oversleeping, chronic fatigue, numbness, thyroid issues, reproductive issues, digestive issues, acid reflux, body aches, migraines, sinus problems, depression enough? These came after not crying at funerals amongst other things throughout childhood due to coping strategies of repression, desensitization, dismissal and intellectualization. Still, I never assumed that OP went through what I did. Neither was I inclined to persu…

I think a lot too but I’ve realized in recent years it’s a coping mechanism. I don’t think it’s a problem until it gets to be a problem. With that being said, does this sound like you? r/cptsd

The sense of intimacy was accelerated by chemicals released during sex when there was not much to account for those feelings in reality. I even observed this during the course of the relationship as I was simultaneously experiencing it. The intermittent nature of our connection might have exacerbated the longing. Re: Intermittent Reinforcement. When I broke it off, my mind had much clarity as to why it needed to be done, but still I had to go through a period of detoxing from him. It was distinc…

The sensation that you feel in the pit of your stomach could be from the wrongness of the situation and the person you’re interacting with. It’s easy to ignore your intuitive senses that is asserting boundaries or over ride its wisdom with our intellect. To interpret the sensation as an opportunity to self doubt is not helpful. These guys were inappropriate, prickly and demeaning. Your gut was acknowledging that fact.

The awareness and planning afforded by your husband is key. You picked a good egg. Boundaries and knowing the game affords you clarity, to wish for them to change is a pipe dream. Finding your peace, being there for your husband and your future children will immensely heal the inherited patterns. I find you to be considerate and open, but sometimes it’s not about what you can do better when dealing with certain people who are invested in pulling others into their toxic vortex. Dr. Ramani on Yout…

I’ve been reading “The Body Keeps The Score” by a Harvard Psychologist and it has been an immense resource for me. Highly evidenced based, explores many avenues of healing, explains what occurs in your body... Rather than managing, I’ve been healing.

It might be self defeating to compel yourself because of the expectations and fear you have defined. It sounds contradictory but if you focus on you, things have a way of working out. Besides it’s best to be at your most perceptive and have your wits about you when looking for a lifetime partner.

Your story has parallels to mine. But I did identify that we were also stuck in some toxic cycles. It took separation, inner work, seeing a psychologist to recover. Through the pain with penetration, my body was protecting me from things I was unconsciously not willing to see. For so long I thought it was my body, but it was an imbalance in our relationship. Our lives had so many twist and turns, it was so hard to get perspective. The love, the guilt, the shame, the attachment. To come to a plac…

I think resentment comes from unmet expectations, perceived lack of appreciation... Lack of reciprocity doesn’t necessarily come from equality of financial contribution. You might guess that I’m of the perspective that men want to be providers given the chance and that’s how they feel valued. Anyways, you can’t predict the future or escape disagreements. It’s how you both respond to situations together that matter! Congrats newlyweds!

I don’t think you should assume that he will resent you, it would be a self fulfilling prophecy. I think it might be an opportunity for him to show his provider side, and for you to appreciate him... Just a thought from the little information you’ve shared.

I had a burglar whilst I was home... I was in a state mentally. Every little sound got my heart racing. I certainly took added precautions. Cameras, alarm systems and remotely controlled lights. They’re quite affordable nowadays. What saved me in particular and spooked the burglar was a magnetic alarm that requires you to disarm from indoors when you want to open the window. Baseball bat by my bed helped me feel safer... I go back and forth about having a gun in the house, I’m unsure I’ll be abl…

Not advice... I’m so glad you’re alright! You did very very well. You stayed calm and collected. Psychology of interaction is not something that people often cite when it comes to readiness. Sometimes there’s no opportunity to utilize physical means of protection. But you have it in you to be centered in a stressful situation. You got this!

Lipstick + face mask = clown face Edit: The mask fabric against the lips smears the lipstick xD

Each morning I open my window and read a page of “The Daily Stoic” that’s on my windowsill. It has helped me immensely. I have a friend I share it with and we share our thoughts about it. Dressing feminine, putting on makeup, finding a great new lip tint because lipsticks and face masks are a no go......keeps my spirits up. Mornings have become a pleasure! Even better than pre covid :)

Yes absolutely. That sounds like a validationship not a friendship; something I learnt to discern especially this past tumultuous year.

Courtesy of my therapist, “I’m not comfortable with that/talking about that.” Someone who hears that and is reasonable would not argue with the level of your comfort. I used to give in and would even tell my ex of 7 years to use my body and my body gave out. My vagina would not cooperate, I was in immense pain, dryness, went to all the doctors..... One elderly female doctor confirmed my old belief system that it was my job to keep him satiated and that my vagina would atrophy if I didn’t use it.…

Great recommendations! Samantha Marika’s another good one. I’m not black. I’m asian. I realized over time I have conservative values that I’m really enjoying appreciating about myself, but am not attached to dogmatic ideology. I analyze policies and study philosophy and economics in my free time. Love Thomas Sowell, I feel like his ideas empower me to be a better person. Larry Elder, Coleman Hughes, John McWhorter, all of these names that I would not have been prompted to research and delve into…
