I was a cop for a while. 75% of the people that tried to hit/kick/punch me were women. About half of those went into an incredulous mental lockup when they inevitably ended up on the ground, handcuffed. Right up until that moment, there were no consequences for hitting a man, and they'd done it enough times to confirm it as fact. These are the same women hoarding toilet paper, not putting their carts in the cart bin, and demanding to speak to the manager. Add some wine and emotional distress and…

That could actually work. He hit her quickly enough that it could have just been a surprise reaction. If he tried to argue that his actions were in self defense, as if KOing her was justified, he'd lose. If it was a matter of reflex and wasn't his intent to destroy her face, he would have a good chance of walking. Separate note : It appears you read what I wrote and considered it. I appreciate that. That would be a hard sell. I get what you're saying, and agree that she deserved to get smacked. I've been to court m…

The legal standard is reasonableness. The force used in self defense is legally required to be reasonable in relationship to the perceived threat. She deserved to get smacked, but a closed fist to the face considering their size difference isn't reasonable. I get that this is the internet, and my actual knowledge and experience is just as good as your feelings and sincere belief that everyone agrees with you; but in reality that dude would, and probably did, catch a conviction.

Negative. Going for the KO to defend yourself from a drink in the face isn't a reasonable response. Gender has nothing to do with it; she posed no immediate threat, and he responded with borderline deadly force.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
