I carry a leatherman with me everywhere and have never had an issue. I've even carried it through airport security when I worked there. We might spy on citizens worse (maybe) but I've not heard of anyone getting raided by a swat team because of it. The road rules are a bit stupid sometimes, but vehicle modifications can be done as long as you get them certified by an engineer. If you can't get the certified by an engineer maybe they weren't too safe.

(While I am pro-marriage) If you have kids, then you're already much more committed than if you were married. I don't see the point of having kids with someone (willingly) but not wanting to commit to marriage.

This is an awesome response! I'm a happily married man. Sometimes relationships suck, sometimes your SO drives you crazy, but over-all I'm happier with our relationship and marriage than I was when I was single. If in 20 years time we grow apart and our marriage doesn't work then it will be sad, but right now I have a happy relationship, and future incidents won't change what is real now.

I disagree. The marriage part is the easy part - and it's almost redundant when a long term (defacto) relationship is considered almost as binding as a marriage. The part that makes separations difficult and costly is shared financial burdens and children - and you don't have to be married to have those.

You have to have comprehensive insurance? In Australia you have to have third party injury/liability insurance, property is just like everything else though - it's a civil matter and you can insure yourself if you want.

I can't, that's why I don't own a 40k car. We have a $4k motorcycle and a $5k car. Assuming the actuaries have done a decent job, you're going to pay more for insurance than you'll get back.

don't pay for comprehensive insurance on a car. If you can't afford to fix/replace your own vehicle then you can't afford to own it. Get third party property insurance in case you hit a Rolls.

The store I worked at had a security officers room, but we only had a few part time security officers (loss prevention officers) for the entire region, so the chances of one being there at any point in time was slim. The shopping centre had security guards who you could call if you needed them.

I often hear this same thing stated about where I live, when you actually look up the numbers it's rarely more than a couple of percent from 50/50. The only real exception to this are areas where people move to perform heavy labouring work - mining towns etc.

Wowserism mostly. On the sunshine coast (where this Men shed was) there was a much publicised case of a 13yo boy going missing in 2003, and they've only just found his remains. While a boy going missing is tragic, this case was blown completely out of propotion and effected a lot of public perception in the area.

I also know people who just can't put on weight. My old boss was 6'4 and weighed 55kg. He was weight training and eating carbonara for lunch so he could put some weight on. People don't get fat by eating less calories than they burn, but equally, many people stay slim eating many more calories than they burn.

There are two ranking systems; hotness of normal people, and hotness of "celebrities". "Celebrities" are ranked a lot harder than normal people because, generally, they're supposed to be the cream of the crop. As a celebrity, she's a bit above average at best. As a normal person, she's hot - but you'd want her to see an orthodontist.

This looks awesome. It's sad how few people want to learn practical skills. I can remember having my motorcycle break down in front of a friend's house once, I asked him if he had a multimeter, he said he didn't know why he would ever need one - he also has an engineering degree. I was sad.
