ABC gave a sensationalized title to a thought-provoking debate. If you read their comments, Girl Scouts did not "slam the decision". They spoke in favour of their sex-segregated model of leadership. This makes sense for their organization and for society. We're the BEST leadership organization in the world for girls and no one can do what we do.

I see. Once you have your first subscription though, from then on I guess you don't see this "default/almost all" view?

Nowadays I understand the front page is made up of the hottest posts from (almost) all subs. Is that how it works? Once you sign in though, your front page is made up from your subscribed subs??

It was a light sentence. It's hard not to see this as attempted murder. I think five years would be a minimum.

Great question. I have no interest in forbidding any field of study; I'd rather permit speech which might be harmful than foolishly try to stamp it out. Gender differences & interactions should in my opinion be studied in the context of already established disciplines like biology, sociology (muh wage gap) and history (suffrage). Further the reasons they give for not operating under an established discipline, that such disciplines are corrupted by an evil, invisible force known as the "patriarch…

You are correct that a field being studied may be its own reward. History or philosophy are good examples. In my opinion some fields are worse than neutral; they are counterproductive. Gender studies is one of those fields.

Gender "studies" teaches you to group people in categories and assign victim status to all of its members. You can then point it out on social media and enjoy the instant escalation in your moral superiority.

The idea that there might be triggered SJWs reading this sub is more hilarious than the article itself.

I was on the fence after watching her last special. I just didn't seem to laugh as much as her 2012 Mostly Sex Stuff. But this cringeworthy post made me reconsider.

No the point of this sub is not witnessing petty revenge by people in positions of power.

Robots designed by women have the same sorts of flaws. In all cases they only are as reliable as their sensors and operators.

Although it's only one anecdote, look at the Elizabeth May incident. It was only one year ago. A female Conservative party member had to go up and haul her off the stage. How quickly the public forgave her shameful behaviour.

Floor mats are one example someone suggested. As to the pedal, if it malfunctions, it could send the wrong angle to the computer. It's unlikely, but would be easy to verify if you inspect the vehicle (physically).

Yes, they were building very safe cars. But the smart business move was not to point at victims of car crashes and say "your fault"! They learned that early on. Toyota was by no means the first to run this gauntlet. I can think of many cases going back to the Corvair or the Pinto where a reasonably well-engineered vehicle has been lambasted by the public over perceptions that it wasn't the safest car possible (in other words, not an actual tank). Tesla will eventually find these same standards o…

You can't assume that the accelerator data was intentionally commanded by the user. There are accidents that cause that pedal to be pressed or act like it was pressed. On the other hand, such events are quite rare.

Actually, the logs could lie. All the data said was that the software acted on an accelerator input. It didn't prove the accelerator wasn't faulty. For that you need to test the pedal (and related components). You can't blame the data from a cursory check of "the logs." Another example is a floor mat which jams underneath the pedal. Just ask Toyota about "blaming the user".

It's not new, just easier to know about. It used to be that to make it known when you got offended you had to write a letter to the newspaper and find a postage stamp.

Just look at Canada's armed forces. We're having a hell of a time with sexual harassment left and right.

The embryos were created absent a decision from the couple to have a child. It was supposed to be a decision they could postpone. As such, the idea is that the father would not be complicit in continuing its development into a baby. That's the reasoning, anyway.

Since you asked, I would say that violence is wrong. It's important not to allow yourself to be reduced to her level. This is true on both moral and legal grounds. There are good stories of men with restraint being exonerated. We just don't hear about them as often as we should.
