Man, I just went back and looked at the pics of that PPD mystery pic thread. I love seeing everyone's faces! I just want to give you all hugs and make you all be nice to each other.

I doubt most TBPers are married. They strike me as young folks still in college.

Now, the way to serve Christ is to do all you possibly can, and then as much more. "No," says you, "that cannot be." I do not know that it cannot be. I found that the best thing I ever did was a thing I could not do. What I could do well, that was my own; but what I could not do, but still did, in the name and strength of the Eternal Jehovah, was the best thing I had done. How is Spurgeon still this good over a century later? <3

Can you blame me for choosing not to play? Since everyone else is giving the socially appropriate answer of, "No, of course I don't judge you!" let me be the one to break the mold. I'm totally judging you. Not for deciding not to play, but for expecting anyone to care about it. You're announcing it, so you obviously expect some kind of reaction. I am positive that no one in your real life cares that you have stopped dating. I'm sure the women you run into day-to-day aren't offended or hurt by th…

Since you're just reading it for fun (I'm assuming) and not studying it, I'd recommend The Message translation. It's a paraphrase, but it's a lot more conversational and "normal book"-like than most translations. If you want something more accurately translated, my favorite is the NIV translation. KJV is good if you dig old English, and the NSRV version is probably the most scholarly and accurate English translation you will find-- although I don't find it very enjoyable to read. You can pretty …

I guess I just see it more in terms of sexual attraction. In the scenario I described, I think the women are acting out of the desire to attract/impress men, and the other woman is just a prop to that end. I don't see any real attraction in that scenario. Not to be crude, but my friend put it well once when she said: The litmus test for being into women is "Does eating pussy sound good to you?"
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/18 06:15 AM

How to find straight women: Be a woman. Go to a party or bar and flirt with women. Be disappointed by all the women who will kiss you for male attention, but who disappear as soon as the male attention leaves. (Seriously though, you can tell the straight ones by the awkward way they kiss.)

I think maybe you're misunderstanding me. Of course I think people who are overweight should lose the weight by making diet changes and exercising. That said, those changes don't happen overnight. I would rather people not hate their bodies while they're in the process of getting healthy and losing weight, because hating yourself seems unhealthy to me. As I've said at least twice in this thread, I think body positivity is a problem if people use it as an excuse to remain fat and continue in thei…

Lol, this is why I don't like giving relationship advice to people beyond DON'T DO WHAT I DID. It totally should not have worked, and yet here we are. I guess we just got lucky in that we were coincidentally very compatible.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/18 10:32 PM
1

Oh, I agree. I very much dislike the HAES movement and I think it does more harm than good. I just don't think that body acceptance, at its core, is necessarily harmful. It's harmful when used as an excuse for stagnation and unhealthy behaviors.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/18 08:06 PM

I would like to point out that there's a big difference in working hard to correct flaws and being proud of your improvement, and being proud of those flaws. Being fat is a good example. It's unattractive and unhealthy. Working out and dieting to get thin and being proud of your accomplishment it's great. But deciding that fat is healthy and okay and being proud of it isn't so great. Yeah, I think there is a fine line to tread there. I don't think self-loathing does anyone any good, so teaching …

I was 21 and working in a cafe, and one day this man comes in looking for a job. He drops off his resume, we chat a little, and he leaves. And then I run into the back room where my coworker is and freak out about how I just saw the most attractive man I've ever seen in person. I wished I'd given him my number, but then realized that he was way too hot to be into me anyway and left it alone. Fast forward a week or two, and I convince my boss to hire him. Now it's his first day on the job, and we…

While I think it would be kind of the person to stop "enabling" the love addict, I don't think it's strictly necessary. I really think that stating your intentions is doing your due diligence. It's on the other person to make whatever changes they need to in order to get away from the relationship that's hurting them.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/18 06:20 PM

It's presumptuous to assume that people do not want to date me? That's a very weird stance to have. This is why it's easier to just not have male friends or associate with men at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/18 09:22 AM

Why would I assume a person asking to grab lunch with me is romantically interested? That seems very presumptuous.

she's told him in no uncertain terms that nothing will ever, ever happen between them and he continues to follow her around like a puppy dog. At this point, I think that's really on that guy. I feel the same way about girl friends who continue to sleep with and pine after men who have told them that they're not looking for a relationship. Once the person has told you their intentions, you really can't say they tricked you.

I think it's best to be upfront about your lack of romantic interest in the person. The only thing that can make this tricky, is the fact that you don't want to come across as presumptive in case they really are just being friendly. Nothing sounds more awkward that someone being friendly, and then you blurt out, "I'm not interested in you!" As soon as someone I was uninterested in made it clear they were looking for romance, I shut it down. That said, I once made someone angry who asked me to lu…

Definitely. Fewer BPers responded, and we had a crap ton of purples. I also really, really do not like the numbers for the over-50 crowd, since there were SO few of them. But! On the bright side this survey was just for fun, and I don't need to present it to any scientific community. :P

i cringed a little at the 9 and 10 ratings because that reads as complacency or stagnation to me, though i'm sure it doesn't mean that to the people who put forth those ratings. I gave myself a 9 for happiness, and here's my reasoning: I can't think of anything that I lack. I love my husband and my life, and I have near endless freedom to pursue my passions and interests. It's not stagnation that makes me happy, but freedom to accomplish the things that I want. That, to me, is ideal. The only re…

Of course. A sample size of 50 is horribly small, especially since I get the feeling that happier people were more likely to take the "happiness survey." I just think it's interesting to get a feel for the general trends. This isn't particularly scientific.

I'd think black pill being separate skews the RP rating higher. This actually helped BP more. There was a black piller who identified as on the cusp of black and blue pills.

I wonder why this doesn't seem to effect RP men? Maybe it is because they have found a sense of enlightenment and their goals of sleeping with women have been met. He should try to correct her. If she won't listen to him, then he can bring his problem to their church leaders who can counsel them as a couple. It might also be beneficial to have the pastor's wife speak to her. And of course he should pray for her and for their marriage; read the Bible daily and make sure that he's fulfilling his role as a husband. He can seek the advice of older, godly men in his church.

I don't think patriarchy should be enforced by government. Women should go to the police if their spouse is hurting or raping them. TRP teaching 'enjoy the decline' proves their ideal is patriarchy.. You still wouldn't be able to say that TRP is pro-patriarchy when it promotes anti-patriarchy actions. And I actually have doubts that their ideal is patriarchy. At this point, I think men are also too indoctrinated into feminism to actually mourn the loss of patriarchy-- even red-pilled men. You can see it in the way RP men have disgust for the idea of financially supporting a SAHM, which is highly traditional. Men have also st…

I'm really not sure why you're talking to me about spanking. Patriarchy does the exact same thing. Even if hitting or raping your wife is illegal, laws have to be enforced and crimes have to be reported and investigated and we have trouble getting police to do that now. It was even worse... oh right I'm not bringing up history. What? I don't think beating and raping your wife should be legal. That said, patriarchy is basically slavery by gender and is by the definitions you laid out objectively worse so I don't know what the point of this post is except to quietly declare yourself as someone who's worse than TRP. In particular I believe in Biblical patriarchy, where men are called to live considerately with their wives and to place high importance on her well-being. I don't think female happiness is an adequate goal either, so telling me that women are happier with boyfriends doesn't do much to convince me. Heroin makes drug addicts happy too, but it's harmful. What individuals want isn't necessarily good or healthy. I'm pro-marriage, full stop.

Yet people are getting married at much later ages than in previous generations on average, and fewer people getting married overall. I think it has more to do with people not wanting to be beholden to tradition-- men and women both. For people in their 20s, marriage is seen as somewhat old fashioned. And I do see it having a lot to do with the destigmatization of cohabiting. People can live together without social shame nowadays; and once you're living together for a few years-- basically as a m…

So yes, and the reason is because marriage is not really a worthwhile investment for men. I don't think this is the primary reason. Outside of the manosphere, I don't see much of this. Most people are still 'blue pilled' wrt marriage, for lack of a better term. Most men are either too in love with their partners or don't have the foresight to shy away from marriage because of potential divorce.

in the past, a romantic relationship would develop if there is enough mutual compatability and eventually lead to a sexual relationship. Depends how far back you want to look. Even further back, marriages were mostly arranged by family. It's possible. My parents told me that when they were young, it was normal to date multiple people at the same time. Same. Today, men expect sex relatively quickly but most women still don't want sex without a relationship. So that means getting into a monogamous relationship relatively quickly. And this is why it's hard for me to tell people to wait until marriage, although I do think they should. It's an incredibly hard sell with the SMP being the way it is. Not having sex until marriage will …

Yeah. Man that is a hard sell in today's climate.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/18 05:49 AM

I wouldn't consider your unreasonable category "unreasonable," actually. I think people are entitled to want whatever they want in relationships. I think getting things in your "unreasonable" category is very, very unlikely and therefore a foolish thing to chase after. But I probably would not consider someone unreasonable for trying to get it-- just stupid.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/18 05:48 AM

Shoot, I'm down.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/18 05:47 AM

Since you treated your relationship this way, I'm pretty sure your friends likely did as well (selection bias). They didn't, actually. Aside from one other girl, I'm the only one of my old friend group who's married. I settled down at 21 while my friends were still dating around (often in open/poly relationships). Incidentally, this is why we drifted apart over the years. Stopped having all that much in common with one another.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/18 05:46 AM

People shouldn't make enormous concessions for anyone. Full stop. Oh, this is interesting. Can you give me an example of a concession you think is too big, along with an example of a concession that is the upper limit of reasonable? I want to see if we have similar ideas there. Yes, but in different ways. I think for the most part, it has made both relationships and marriage subtly worse.

So, I lived with my husband for several years before we married (and before I converted to Christianity), obviously I did not take my own "advice." But I think I can make a case for not cohabiting before marriage. It becomes really difficult to separate your life from your partner's when you cohabit. You share bills, a living space, friends, pets, you name it-- everything in your lives become very entwined. I can see people deciding that it's easier to just "go with the flow" and get married rat…
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/18 05:07 AM
1

I do somewhat agree with the speaker, but I think the advice is fairly interchangeable with the advice given on codependency and how to avoid it. Marriage/relationships aren't permission to stop working on yourself-- that's a recipe for disaster. Right, and you've hit on another one of the key points that he was making. That people shouldn't go into a relationship expecting the other person to fix the things that are wrong with them. That you bring yourself, flaws and all, into a marriage, so it…

/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/18 04:51 AM

Right, that definitely makes sense. No one would marry a person if they thought they were getting a bad deal right off the bat. That said, do you think there's value in holding some "benefits" back until marriage? And if so, what would those things be?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/18 04:45 AM
1

Can I ask if you're a man or woman? I don't think this is a bad trend, personally; I probably would not have chosen to get married if it weren't important to my partner, and although the way I think about our relationship probably did shift a little after the wedding, we were plenty committed beforehand too. I think it definitely can have good outcomes. You could argue that cohabiting with someone before marriage gives you a chance to acclimate to that person and really see if you're compatible …

I 100% agree that people treat marriage like "super-dating" (and subsequently, treat divorce like breaking up). But I wonder if that doesn't have something to do with the waters being muddied. Relationships nowadays seem to increase in commitment gradually, and I think I pin it on cohabitation becoming normalized. It's an easy slide from casual dating, to exclusivity, to living together, to engagement, to marriage. That isn't to say that it's not intentional, but I think there is much less delin…

He's not a bad pick for a LTR. He's just too good of a pick for a LTR. This doesn't make sense, and it seems to be rooted in hurt feelings and solipsism. If I want to drive a nail into a board, I need a hammer. A screwdriver is a bad tool for the job. It can be the most high tech, efficient, aesthetically pleasing screwdriver on earth; but it is not a hammer. If a man doesn't want to marry, then he is a bad candidate for a LTR, no matter what other attractive qualities he may have.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/18 12:37 AM
1

Oh, that's simple. One such moral is telling the truth. Don't. You should lie to get laid. Nah. Morals aren't sexually attractive, but they have value in and of themselves. I disagree that sexual strategy is amoral when applied to real life.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/18 04:46 PM

It would be suspicious since most people do by that point. Is he picky? Was he on an oil rig his entire adult life? Social outcast? Right, that was my point. I don't think he's necessarily a bad person, but if a woman has options, she'd do better to pick a man with a better track record.

I don't think those answers about 35+ men are always accurate. Things like commitment issues, gay, perpetual bachelor, whatever else, might not get it all. What if the guy just hasn't found the right woman, or just doesn't want commitment/marriage, or he's been burned, or whatever? That is certainly possible. But your last two examples, "just doesn't want commitment/marriage, or he's been burned" also make him a bad candidate for a LTR in my opinion. I don't like pretending to be a mind-reader, …

trp would not be around if the majority of women were what you consider morally upright. Yes, you're probably right. In an ideal world, everyone would marry young and only ever have sex with their spouse, who they stay with for life. Unfortunately, that's not the world that we live in. I suppose that's what you mean, that men shouldn't be using their knowledge to get what they want from women? I'm fine with this up to a point. Where it begins to contradict Judeo-Christian morality is where I will start to call it immoral. Advice that tells men to never marry and to spin plates (that is, have sex outside of marriage) is immoral. Advice telling men to have a backbone and not kowtow to women, is not immoral.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/18 01:21 AM

I think marriage is a lifelong commitment regardless. I've yet to attend a wedding where "til death do us part" isn't included as part of the vows, because as far as I know, most people agree that the goal of marriage is a lifelong relationship. But no, I would not hold other people to different standards and judge their marriage differently based on non-traditional wording. Divorce is failure, period.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/18 09:28 PM
1

A marriage is only successful if someone dies, yes. We can judge relationships by different metrics, because a relationship and a marriage are not the same thing. You never vowed to love and honor the people you dated, for better or worse, until death, so you're entitled to have whatever standards of success you want.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/18 09:17 PM

Of course there's room for discipline in Christian marriages, and I don't think a husband needs to pussyfoot around his wife at all times; sometimes a husband should rebuke and correct his wife in love. That said, I need to nitpick: "My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires." TRP has addressed the moral disagreement - it may be immoral, at the very least unethical, but right out of the gate they self described as amoral. Certain red pillers give me the sense that they don't know what "sexual strategy is amoral" means. It means that the description of sexual strategy-- the reality of it, is amoral because it's merely a statement of facts. There are no "thou shall"s or "thou shalt not"s attached to it. As another red commenter correctly said, "Red pill is knowledge, an…

Many of us have issues with the red pill that have nothing to do with disgust. There's this weird idea that everyone who disagrees with TRP does so out of an emotional reaction, rather than just believing that it's incorrect or immoral. This is a logically disconnected answer. Of course female nature also «needs» to be tamed in a similar sense, and civilizations have done it for thousands of years. Female sexuality is commodified through civilizations-- it's controlled because it's seen as a resource. Therefore it's in men's best interest to control that resource. Nothing about female nature is something that needs to be "tamed" as male nature is. To suggest otherwise is treading pretty close to blank slate, "male and female na…

No, civilization benefits women, children, and betas the most. By taming male nature, women have less to fear and have more autonomy. Without civilization, a woman needs a man to protect her from other men-- and in return she'd have to give him sex or other resources; with civilization, a woman has the government and police to protect her and she owes them nothing in return (besides taxes).

Now, if 95% of men are toxic, then we can certainly say that men in general are toxic, that is, masculinity in general is toxic! "Toxic" is a loaded buzzword, so let's get away from that. Masculinity, when not restrained by culture, customs, and laws, is indeed often violent. Civilization tames people's baser impulses, and those who refuse to be tamed are excluded from civilization, either as outcasts or prisoners.

Does he know you have beliefs like that now? Yeah, I've talked about it with him especially because I've struggled with what the Bible says about homosexuality, considering my own feelings on it. It's a long story and not an easy thing for me to come to terms with. He knows all about the debates I've had with my pastor trying to figure it out. Basically, he's a very nonjudgmental person who thinks everyone is entitled to their own view, no matter how wrong it seems (man, how did I end up with su…

Like I said, a bit alarmed. I might worry about how our relationship would change as a result of his new beliefs. Obviously I'd just have to deal with it, though. Would be hypocritical of me not to be supportive of him in that situation.

Ah, okay. Yes, you're right that he would probably not like the idea of gay people needing to be celibate. I don't talk about that stuff IRL, though-- pretty much for that reason. It would make a lot of people angry with me.

don't think he cares that much. I'm not sure if you're imagining me preaching at him, but we rarely talk religion. Most of the changes that I've made as a result of Christianity have been good for him since they're things like believing that wives should submit to their husbands-- something I certainly never believed in as an atheist. But the Bible says David was a man after Gods own heart. Yes, but David still did some bad things. Among other things, he got Uriah killed in order to steal his wife Bathsheba. Clearly him being a man after God's own heart doesn't mean that everything he did was godly or holy. One of the reasons for marriage-- to paint a picture of the relationship between Christ (husband) and his Church (wife), breaks down in the case of polygamy. There is only one Church, not many. The Bible says that a husban…

I would say that a couple who are making each other miserable probably aren't following God's plan for relationships either. But I think the answer is for both people to do a better job of living the way husbands and wives are told to live-- selflessly and peacefully with each other. Divorce isn't the only answer, and I don't think it's the best answer.

I think bad sex has a whole hell of a lot to do with it, honestly. I have a very, very hard time seeing a woman consistently turning down sex that's getting her off and making her feel good. Someone on PPD the other day described their ideal marital sex life as "getting my dick sucked everyday." While there's nothing wrong with that per se, it struck me as a very selfish attitude toward sex, and I wonder if that dude is licking his wife's pussy everyday. If sex is primarily an activity done to s…

No, slippery slope is another logical fallacy. Reductio ad absurdum is a sound method of argument (not a fallacy), which means "reduction to absurdity." It's a way to show that the argument a person is making (like OP's stance on sexual assault) inevitably leads to an absurd and impractical conclusion. u/zarmock says "Unless a man confesses to Crime A (Rape), there's no reason to think that he's guilty." And here u/RockinSocksII brings up the possibility of evidence, and uses a different crime t…

I don't think drunkenness equals a lack of consent unless the person is incapacitated. Unconscious drunk = cannot consent. So drunk that she can't speak, or can't move her body to push you off even if she wanted to = cannot consent. I don't know about you, but I've literally never seen a person get this drunk. I watched the relevant portion of the video, and all it did was convince me that many trans individuals are autogynophilic and projecting their autogynophilia onto women. Here's a quick infographic I found via Google. The average length of time from first date to engagement is 3-4 years, and the average length of time from engagement to marriage is 1.5 years. Since the average age of marriage for women in the US is 27, that puts women as beginning to date their future husbands at 21-23. This describes what I see around me, among my peers who have gotten married. Hell, it even describes my own relationship: I started dating my husband when I was 21 and didn't marr…

Girl alights from the carousel at, oh, around 27, and has decided It Is Time To Get Serious About Finding A Husband. 27 is the average age that women get married in the US, but that does not mean it's when they decide to jump off the CC. most men very much want to be desired by women too, and get turned on by it. Well that would be the ideal, right? Of course everyone would prefer that if it were an option. But generally speaking, men as a whole are less put off by "paying for it," compared to women. It could be higher male sex drive, but I think there is less revulsion at play. I think men are more able to enjoy the purely physical aspects of seeing a hooker, mental stuff aside. I just don't think that women are as able to do t…

/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/18 12:13 AM

Absolutely. The sex with a prostitute wouldn't be "great." It would be incredibly embarrassing to 99% of women. She would be incapable of enjoying it, because most of sex is internal (as in, having to do with her mental state and feelings) for women.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/18 12:10 AM
1

This fundamentally misunderstands the nature of female sexual desire. Women are aroused by attractive men desiring them. The idea of someone having sex with me because I PAID them is horrifying to me. I have no interest in having sex with someone who doesn't want to have sex with me, no matter how attractive or technically good at sex they are. It would be utterly unenjoyable.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/18 11:29 PM
3

It's both. I don't know if you were raised in the same kinds of churches that I was, but we were taught to put everyone's needs before our own; we come last-- and that goes for men and women. And of course, you put your spouse first of all, right after God. Edit: We were even taught an acronym for it: Jesus first Others next You last And that's how you have JOY in your life, by being unselfish and making that your priority.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/18 10:49 PM
3

Well we can both agree that a great sex life is possible in a traditional marriage. We might disagree on the exact contents of that sex life, but I can appreciate your position on it.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/18 09:11 PM

Yeah, I can agree with that. It lines up with what I see IRL. Men who say that they don't believe in marriage usually change their minds once they meet the right woman (my husband was one of those).
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/18 09:10 PM
3

Also, how is a pair of handcuffs or a blindfold more objectionable than a DP vibrator? I've got no ideological issues with handcuffs or a blindfold. I have an issue when sex starts to veer into degradation or pain play-- because I don't think there's really a way to spin that as being loving to the other. Incidentally, this is the same kind of issue I have with the doublethink of liberal feminism. Not all choices are valid ones, and not all desires are moral ones that should be indulged. And ALL…

Eh I termed it wrong. People weren't watching us, we just wanted the thrill of possibly being caught. Outdoors sex rather than public - incidentally something that the pagan druids were mightily in favour of as it's supposed to increase virility. Christians are still required to obey the laws of the land unless they contradict the Bible-- so public sex is still out. The purpose of porn is literally to provoke lust, so no, I do not believe that you can watch porn and not feel lust for the actress…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/18 08:45 PM
2

Seriously? Fine. Normal sex stuff: All sex positions Manual sex (fingering/handjobs) Oral sex Sex toys Lingerie
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/18 08:43 PM

So, obviously public sex and using porn as a sex aid is wrong because it involves other people in your sex life. Porn causes you to lust after people who are not your spouse. What I've heard, is that "God blesses what arouses us when it violates neither love of God or love of each other." Which rules out BDSM, because I believe that treating another person in an unloving way, even as play, is wrong and against God's design for sex.

Sure. For much the same reason older married men are heavily discouraging young men from marrying and becoming fathers. The pendulum has fully swung the other way and marriage is much more advantageous for women than for men. Sorry, I don't understand your point. Would you mind clarifying? If marriage is more advantageous for women, then why are older women discouraging young wives from being SAHMs? That seems to be counterintuitive.

Men make themselves sexually dependent on wives when they marry. Yet women don't want to make themselves financially reliant on men. I think a lot of them would be willing to do so if given the option, actually. It's one of those things that doesn't sound good to them in the abstract, but I think if they had a man who they loved and trusted, who proposed it-- most women would be up for doing this. YES. I don’t give a shit if he feels like he is missing out. (Pun intended). If he is willing to divorce or harbor years of resentment over anal sex then he is truly a shitty husband. And personally, I think it's ridiculous that men expect anal sex in marriage. I don't think wives should make a habit of denying their husbands sexually WITHIN REASON. A husband demanding anal sex is not something that I deem reasonable.

It's a little annoying to have partners who swear it doesn't hurt and they know what they're doing, "I promise you'll like it if you give it another try" and then, surprise, it hurts like a bitch! The woman was created for the benefit of man Women were created to glorify and serve God, just like any other of his creatures. That said, it is a wife's role to be a helper to her husband. Nothing you're saying is something that I disagree with. Yes, husbands are meant to be leaders. But they need to lead with selflessness and prayer, putting God first and their families next. None of this means he isn't the leader. He's a leader with a great responsibility to shepherd his wife and family.

Even if you aren't religious, most people in the US were raised culturally Christian and grew up with that God-myth of a loving, forgiving Savior. I think it leaves deep imprints on people's psyches. Leaving this the only option. And it may be rather humanizing to…

I don't dismiss RP. I don't call myself a red piller anymore because I have too many ideological differences (mostly surrounding sex and marriage), but I don't think they're entirely wrong. They have some valid points. I'm not denying that Marriage 2.0 is risky for men, or that feminism has made a lot of women into poor candidates for wives. I get that. I just think there is some intellectual dishonesty there when RPers speak wistfully about Marriage 1.0, because I do not think most of them woul…

And here's the fracture. If youre for Marriage 1.0, how are women wanting this definition of marriage going to attract a worthy guy in this modern "sex positive" society? By finding like-minded men with similar values. Amazingly (and I am not being facetious, I see it as something of a minor miracle), there are still men out there who don't expect porn-sex from their women. I'm not advocating for sexless marriages, not by any means. I believe marital sex should be frequent and enthusiastic. Howe…

no, we are just trying to optimize our lives for the environment we live in. our ancestors lived in a world where marriage 1.0 was a legitimate goal, but now we live in the modern, sexually liberated world where only an idiot would get married. we embrace the decline because it's the best possible strategy. So let's go back to the hypothetical I proposed in my post. If I offered you a nice tradcon girl tomorrow, and I told you that you could marry her and have Marriage 1.0, and that no-fault div…

Absolutely not. Marrying an 18 yo virgin that will be a proper housewife that welcomes you home with a proper home cooked meal after a long days work and invites you into the bedroom at the end of the night? Yeah, I have no problem supporting her. Cool, I can accept this. Obviously what I wrote in my OP doesn't describe you, and I respect that. This is the opposite of TRP. Most on TRP will claim men and women are biologically different. They do, but I still see them expecting men and women to be…

and i'm wondering if you can see the reason behind the bullshit of some users on MRP. Of course. I'm not saying that their wives are perfect angels. It sounds like many of them are married to truly difficult women who fight them at every turn. Obviously that's not ideal, and I have sympathy for men in bad marriages. Still, I don't see them advocating marriage. They seem to believe that marriage as a whole is a lost cause. Oh, yeah, they brought that? Okay. That wasn't done for thousands of years…

I think they DO want "traditional wives". They don't, though, because most of them are very much against supporting a SAHM. Men seem to want the good of modernity without the responsibilities or downsides. They want a loyal wife who takes care of the house and children, but who they don't have to support financially. Men appear to want wives who are find with doing threesomes and having degrading fetish sex, which is in no way traditional. Feminism brought an indifference to men and required rev…

Right, you're talking about already-married men. Do you agree that the majority of red pilled men would not want marriage under any circumstances?

According to a weirdo evangelical An ad hom is not a valid argument. Do you yourself disagree with what I wrote? Would you like a traditional marriage?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/18 07:42 AM
1

But many on TRP are not. Positive masculinity and the "family Alpha" subcultures are promoting marriage quite readily I know of TheFamilyAlpha and enjoy his writing, but he's an outlier. Even the men on MRP regularly tell men not to marry if they're not already married. I don't think red pillers are a notable majority by any means, but they definitely discourage marriage as a whole.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/18 07:05 AM

Nope, took a look through OP's post history, turns out he's a man. Ultimately, polyamory and other non-binary sexual relationships will be identified as a major component in the dissolution of modern state society. I agree, but the red pill rejection of marriage isn't helping either.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/18 06:50 AM
2

Is this so egregious though? This all boils down to TRP not liking marriage right? Personally I think divorce and avoidance of marriage is a societal ill. It is contributing to the demolition of the stable family unit. So yes, I think it is a bad thing. Loyalty huh. For each TRP dude who says that I could probably find a misandrist who says the same thing about men. Of course you could. Nevertheless, I don't think it's an attitude that makes for a good spouse. "Women do it too," does nothing to …

Nope, not at all. I don't think #MeToo has any real effect on people outside of the manosphere and Tumblr. It's an internet phenomenon and most normal people have taken no heed of it. In fact, I doubt most of the people I interact with regularly would even know what it was if I mentioned it to them. I expect that the status quo will hold wrt dating. In any case, the men who are most bold and doing most of the "asking women out" are unlikely to be scared by feminist whining.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/01/18 05:45 AM

I just call "dating" interacting with someone in a romantic capacity. Contrast this with "being friends." Dating doesn't need to imply exclusivity, but it does imply that you are romantically involved with this person.

Like I replied to someone else in a comment, usually blue pillers are responding negatively to the ideological components of TRP, including but not limited to: Women are children/ the oldest teenager in the house Women are incapable of loyalty Men are the true romantics, and women are incapable of loving men She's not yours, it's just your turn Marriage is to be avoided at all costs It's an acceptable goal to "spin plates" I would not be interested in someone who held these beliefs.

Working out, dressing well, and having boundaries are not all that red pill is, though. If that was all that it was, you would see significantly less pushback from blue pillers. I suggest you look up the definitions of both "honorable" and "ethical" in a dictionary.

2

It wasn't a cheap shot. I am genuinely curious for the sake of furthering the dialogue, but of course you're free to keep the answer private if you'd prefer. I'm not sure if this is the reason you don't see the nuance between the two words.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/01/18 01:30 AM

We're talking about professions, and marriage is not a profession. Honor: "Deserving of respect or high regard." I said nothing about ethics. In fact, you seem determined to put words in my mouth. Nowhere did I say that prostitution is unethical. I said it's not HONORABLE, in that it isn't a profession that people typically respect or hold in high regard. My asking about marriage was a rhetorical question. The person I was replying to was shifting the goal posts, as no one was discussing marriage before he brought it up. Prostitution is not an "honorable" job by any normal usage of the word. This isn't a value judgment on prostitution.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/01/18 09:46 AM

I'm not saying "hookers are bad." Someone said "prostitution is an honorable profession," and I am disagreeing with that. Where does marriage come in?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/01/18 07:36 AM

Why not? Because it's seen as trashy and not socially acceptable. You can't tell your grandma that you're a hooker. Most men wouldn't want to marry a hooker.

I'll bite. I'm one of the women that said I feel uneasy walking alone at night when there's no one else around. A certain amount of walking alone at night is necessary to be a functioning adult. When I was younger, for instance, I lived in a bad part of Oakland. People shooting up the block was not uncommon. I also got off work around midnight some nights. The bus stop was a good 15 minutes' walk from my house, and it passed by some spooky people. Man that walk was always terrifying. I couldn't …

When I'm alone in a minimally populated area, yes. Even if it's a nice area. For example, I live in a nice neighborhood, but a quiet one. I rarely see my neighbors. I feel uneasy walking up to the gate to my house in the dark (as in, aware that someone could come up behind me and grab me/mug me), and always feel better when it locks behind me.

Are age differences relevant here? If your husband had a meeting with a 60 year old women are you really worried he is going to cheat? Or its somehow inappropriate? That's a good point. It's generally accepted in my church that a person meeting up with a much-older (as in 70s-80s) person is fine. I have less of a problem with work-related meetings than socializing. Obviously you'd have to tolerate a certain amount of opposite-sex contact in modernity, in order to have a job. I'm more concerned with hanging out for non-business related reasons.

I believe it will create less trust because, it will create situations where, outside of conservative communities, one person in the relationship won't follow it and the other will, despite the one who is following it thinking the other is doing the same. It could lead to unsuspected cheating, or feelings of suspicion. Maybe I can speak to this. I'm religious and my husband isn't. I can see how a person might not want to follow the Billy Graham rule to a T due to professional concerns. But leaving aside the office, do you think it's beneficial to adhere to it in a purely social capacity? As in, do you think it's wise for a husband to avoid hanging out with other women one-on-one recreationally? (And the same applying to a wife, obviously; I don't know what gender you are.)

As for a relationship, I don't think its necessary to stay away from women to make my gf more comfortable. Are you fine with her having male friends or texting/calling them? Basically, if you don't want to follow the BG rule in a relationship, are you fine with her doing the same?

i think it makes sense to avoid being alone one-on-one with the opposite sex (or the sex that you're attracted to), but personally this doesn't seem like it would be 'improper' in quite the same way Yes, I can agree with you there. This particular practice is something that I haven't heard of except in Mike Pence's case. Then again, it would depend on the social function. And it is not one size fits all. If a woman has had a male friend for a long time, it is unreasonable for her to be expected to stop texting them and hanging out with him one on one. I don't think most men would be comfortable with this. A great many RP-minded people think that it's impossible for men and women to be platonic friends. For example, most men would usually gladly have sex with their female friends if the woman offered. There is often an undercurrent of sexual desire from at least o…

You can't use mike pence as an example because he and Trump are politically nuclear entities, anything they do will be criticized and condemned. Politics don't have much to do with it. My personal opinion is if you are in a relationship, imagine the person you love standing next to you and ask yourself if your actions would hurt that person. If yes, don't do it. I like this rule of thumb, too. A friend of mine follows this one, and it always seemed smart to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/01/18 04:50 AM

I think maybe you've misunderstand the reasoning behind the Billy Graham rule. It's not meant to keep you away from a person you're dating. Rather, it's meant to keep you away from other men once you have a SO. So, of course you would be allowed to call, text, and meet up with your boyfriend/husband... you just wouldn't be allowed to do those things with other men who you're not related to.

Sounds like they tried (and did what most people do), but it didn't work out. I think finding a compatible LTR is at least some part luck.

I mean yes, I think if you're still single at 35-40 you've largely missed the boat. That said, most of my peers met their husbands in their early- to mid-20s and married around 27-29. I don't tend to see people putting off dating altogether. I think people who are single in their 30s probably had failed LTRs that left them on the market so late.

Well. Considering I'm bisexual with a slight preference for women... no, I don't find lesbian sex repulsive. I think most straight women find it repulsive, in the sense that they have 0 interest in participating in it. Most straight girls are "barsexual" at best-- they'll make out with another girl at a party (to put on a show for men), but they won't have sex with another woman. Litmust test: Is she into eating pussy? If the answer is no, then she's straight as an arrow.

Granted, I'm bisexual so I don't really count towards this assessment. But back when I still watched porn, dude: men in porn are ugly. They're mostly selected for having big dicks I guess, cause their faces are busted. Really ruins the mood when you're looking at these gross dudes fucking.

You don't think women in your position are going to have to settle quite significantly? Not really. Women have a pretty serious upper-hand in the SMP, especially if they're above average in terms of looks. Plus, I think women with my view on this are going to tend to be traditional and religious, which means they're going to meet and select for like-minded traditional, religious men.

Yup. I remember at the beginning of our relationship, I thought my husband and I had "nothing in common." We have very different taste in books, music, and art. He actively hates the music I listen to. But over time I realized that we're actually very similar in a bunch of ways that matter more, like values and attitude toward family and relationships.

Of course there's a difference. Obviously no one is going to bang their coworker in the middle of the office on a Tuesday. But all things considered, I would prefer neither of those things. A workplace friendship can begin to foster emotional closeness and physical attraction that might lead to a Saturday night hangout. It's a slippery slope. Obviously the trend now is for both members of a couple to insist on having friends of the opposite sex. That's fine for them. People who find that importa…

I think that relationships are more stable when both members of the relationship have no private contact with people of the opposite sex. I'm sure plenty of secure people get cheated on every day. How many times do you see posts on r/relationships about someone uneasy with their gf's male "friend," only to find out that she was cheating the whole time?

Well, I started dating my husband when I was 21, so my standards didn't have time to change. I picked him because he was the most attractive man I've ever met, and he was incredibly nice to me. I still value those things! I'll say that we have really "grown up" together, though. When I met him he was kind of a hoodlum, and I was kind of a hippie wild child. We've both become more domestic as we've gotten older together, and I really dig it!

Probably not, but here's the thing: it's always going to be anecdotes vs. anecdotes. The blues will disagree that most men deal with X or that most women are like Y, and they'll still argue. But no one is forced to engage with low-effort arguments, or posters who argue in bad faith. There are a handful of users that I don't debate with because experience has proved that it's unproductive.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/01/18 10:02 PM

No, because that's not what that means. Men and women both serve God and we're of equal worth in his sight. It's a matter of role, not worth. Wives submit to their husbands, not to "men," because it's the roles that God has deemed good for humanity. Christ himself submitted to God the Father, and that did not make him lesser; he remained God.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/01/18 01:19 AM

God created Adam and Eve, and his design for humanity was that Adam would be the leader of his wife. There is nothing more natural than Biblical patriarchy. Alternate relationship models are deviations and the result of original sin.

No one, that I'm aware of, on PPD, TBP or otherwise, disputes that men and women each have, a nature. Which is what AWALT is. This is exactly what most blues believe. Blank slate theory. They believe that the gender differences between the sexes are social constructs, not a result of innate nature. This is the first big difference between red and blue pill.

As other people have pointed out, people bring up "not everyone is like that" in response to generalizations. Example: RP men tend to make arguments such as "Marriage is always bad for men." I'll tell you that I've never done that, and you will tell me A) that I am lying, or B) that I'm an outlier who doesn't count. I think I'm probably in some kind of majority.

I am realizing why TRP thinks women are incapable of love. It's because they are expecting women to express and receive love in exactly the same way that men do.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/01/18 11:47 PM

"Not associating sex with love" doesn't mean deadbedrooming your spouse. It means that women mostly experience "love" through affirming words, shared experiences, and nonsexual affection. Sex is a HUGE part of healthy romantic relationships, and I can acknowledge that it's what makes men feel loved. It is not what makes women feel loved, however. I fail to see how this is a problem. Married couples still ought to have plenty of sex.

I can't quite believe this has been made as part of an honest comment.... Oh no, I mean that. To be fair, I used an extreme example, and I'm aware that MOST men are not out fucking goats. Still, men will fuck ugly women and fat women, women they barely know and never want to see again. Knowing that, it's hard to fathom how a man having sex with you would in any way mean that he loves you. It's no wonder men consider sex to be a major part of love. Well hold up there. I agree that sex is a major,…

I think it's hard to understand male nature and still associate sex with love. Men will literally fuck farm animals if that's the only thing around. I know he doesn't love that goat and want to wife it up. I definitely associate loving actions and words with love. Sex is part of a loving relationship, but sex doesn't show love in today's day and age. People are too free with it for that.

Art school is as slutty as it is because the gender ratios are WAY more female than male (we can also add in permissive environment and heavy emphasis on "cool"/boho values). So if you took ONE man from an engineering school and put him into an art school, yes it's possible that he'd have more sex in a predominantly-female environment. If you put ALL the men and women from an engineering school in an art school, you would even out the ratios and end up with a "normal college experience." Althoug…

I think it depends on age. I would actually say that marrying a loser gets you more status. Past mid-30s and definitely after 40, women just feel bad for single women. Single can look cute and fun and free in your 20s, but it eventually just gets kind of sad. Everyone has that one spinster aunt in her 50s who never married, and no one envies her at the family reunions.

Security/permanence. Marriage won't guarantee that your SO won't leave you, but it is much harder and more painful to divorce than it is to break up. Marriage disincentivises your SO from leaving. This is important since women's most important commodities in the SMP are their youth and beauty. Most women want a "guarantee" before spending a significant amount of these on a man. Legitimacy. So he should be banned for life from every having any position in the church? Probably. He should absolutely be forgiven, but forgiveness doesn't mean that consequences of actions magically disappear. I don't think that someone who's misused his pastoral position and had sexual relations with a congregant is fit to lead. There are many seminary graduates looking for jobs in ministry. Yes, I agree. I think the OP is framing the post wrong, as this person likely would have been removed from his position of Church authority whether or not the act was consensual or assault.

Seeking premarital sex is inappropriate behavior for a pastor, and it is reason enough for him to be removed from his post at the time, even if it was consensual.

The case in Tennesseee involves a teaching pastor (not full pastor) at a Memphis, Tennessee church who committed some sexual misconduct 20 years ago. Many are calling for his resignation due to what he did 20 years ago. I absolutely agree that he should be removed from his position of authority within the church. The issue here isn't whether or not what he did was sexual assault. I would have the same response for you if you told me that he had consensual sex with the girl 20 years ago. The fact…

I've had plenty of sex, but I'm not an idiot. Contraceptives, barrier methods, and STD testing exist for a reason. "My body made me do it" is a poor excuse for anything, and I have 0 sympathy for people who made bad decisions because they lacked willpower or common sense. This is an honest question and in no way meant as a "gotcha": Do you also have sympathy for people who are overweight and obese? They're also following their body's natural drives without restraint.

Statistics have no bearing on the marriage of individuals. They describe trends, but they are useless for predicting the success or failure of specific marriages.

Actually, people in higher income brackets and people with more education are more likely to be married. Their rates of divorce are also significantly lower. And of never-married adults, a slight majority say that they want to be married someday and cite financial instability as a reason they are not yet married. Marriage is not low class, cohabitation and having bastard children is.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/01/18 11:36 PM

Since we're talking about marriage, you might want to change that analogy to top shelf liquor and cocaine. Meth is a little low class.

I never found that to be true. Settling for a man that she is attracted to "in a different way" is not considered a "cure" That's not the cure. The cure for alpha widowhood is finding a man who is just as good or better than the last one, who she is more attracted to. Considering the true abundance that women have, this is very likely.

Why are you sleeping with men who have terrible attitudes and don't want to get you off or who have poor attitudes? The gamble is huge if you don't get to know the guy before sleeping with him. Don't be surprised if he brings the ego and dgaf attitude into the bedroom. Because some men can act completely normal, caring, and considerate, until it comes to sex. Obviously you don't continue to sleep with people who are selfish in bed; if you do, at that point you're doing it to yourself.

Are most men egotistical about sex? From my (statistically insignificant) sample size, I'd say about 40% of men are.

Ego. The only truly horrible sex I've had was when men were unwilling to adapt to suggestions (flat-out ignoring what you want despite repeated requests), OR getting angry and offended about feedback. Inexperience can be remedied, but you can't fix a bad attitude.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/18 11:31 PM
1

I've never seen what you're describing. While people don't go into sexual encounters hoping for bad sex, I think most women acknowledge that it's a possible outcome. Consenting to sex is consenting to sex, whether it ends up being enjoyable or not. Most men are bad in bed. Having sex with someone for the first time is mostly hoping for the best, but half expecting the worst.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/18 11:26 PM

Despite what the internet says, most women don't cry "rape" when they have bad sex. I think it's safe to say that every sexually active woman alive has experienced bad sex. You either A) work with the person and practice to make it better over time, or B) stop having sex with them and find someone else. and a woman having bad sex isn't a man's fault. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. If it's a man who has an ego so big that he can't take suggestions/direction without getting offended, then I …

The only scenario in which I think it would be trickery, is if he lied about being interested in a LTR with her; in which case, he would be aware that it's casual sex but she would think it was something more. Incidentally, this is a good case for saving sex until marriage, to avoid being duped like this. Assuming he didn't make false promises to her, then I agree she wasn't tricked and made the decision on her own.

I'm attempting to explain a phenomenon that we all acknowledge happens (or else why would there be so many unhappy men on MRP and r/DeadBedrooms). In no way am I excusing the resulting behavior. Yes, in an ideal world no one would grow lazy or grow apart from their partners. Some of us don't, and have happy marriages. I'm trying to suss out the reason that sex dries up in the problem marriages, because I think the root cause is not intentional withholding like some people claim.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/18 08:47 AM
1

Are you trying to suggest that guys should just be ok with it because there might be less bad faith than they think? No, not at all. I think both people within a marriage should meet each other's sexual needs to the best of their ability, and I think it's perfectly reasonable for men to be upset if that isn't happening for them. I made this post because I'm interested in accurate theories, and the idea of premeditated trickery as a reason for dead bedrooms rang false.

The only perception i've had of her lately is that she is someone who is brightly, happily in love. That she's in love with her husband is doubly fantastic, in my opinion. Most people's needs and wants aren't that arcane. I take care of my husband by cooking him good food, giving him affection and lots of sex, respecting him, listening when he talks, supporting him in his goals, and encouraging him to do the things he wants to do. It's really not rocket science. If I'm doing something wrong or he needed something different, he would tell me. After being with someone for a long time, you know what kind of person they are and what they need and want in their lives.

That's a great analogy, and I suppose I'd have to think about it. From a purely practical standpoint, there's some appeal in harm reduction. Helping the meat eaters get their sex from ethical sources. I don't think I can help people figure out how to have premarital sex in good conscience, though. if a guy and his girlfriend want to move in together and eventually have a kid, it's completely normal and no one will look down on them or think it's weird. they don't need to be married to do that. What's wrong with keeping one foot out of the door just in case? Nothing, if you aren't sure you want to spend the rest of your life with someone. But you asked what the difference is between a committed LTR and marriage, and I think we've just found one.

At some stage in the near future your man won't want to see your ugly face and body and will hope for less natural light. Because you said this. Considering we were talking about sex with the lights off, and you talked about men not wanting to see their wives' bodies, I think it makes perfect sense to think that you were talking about sex in the darkness. Why would you use the word "gay" to describe anything that doesn't fit your fucked up cookie cutter view of the world? Because heterosexual me…

Been in one of those. What happened was I stuck it out for 2 years, in which I was mostly very sad, until I finally realized I was never going to get what I want and broke up with him. And then he stalked me for a couple years. Boy, that was fun!
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/18 07:25 AM

I didn't pull the gay card on you. You're strangely assuming that I called YOU gay as an insult. I'm saying that a man who'd rather look into pitch black darkness, rather than see a naked woman's body while they fuck-- that sounds like you are describing a gay man to me. I have 0 issue with the idea of married couples having sex after putting the kids to bed. I think it's really strange that you're suggesting that lights-on sex suddenly ends after children are born.

No, gays don't scare me. Try harder, I lived in San Francisco with naked dudes running around the Castro. I'm saying that the idea of a man not wanting to see a naked woman's body, sounds like a closeted homosexual.

/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/18 06:58 AM

To me, the commitment is in the fact that it's a promise made to God and your spouse. I understand that this isn't a compelling reason to atheists, but the idea of breaking a vow to God is terrifying to me. A regular relationship just doesn't have that weight. God isn't invested in the success of my relationship with a boyfriend like he is with my marriage.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/18 06:52 AM
1

On the flip side, if two people already consider themselves married and feel firm in their commitment, then why not get married? ime, there is usually some amount of hedging their bets there. Some amount of uncertainty, of wanting to keep one foot out the door just in case.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/18 06:47 AM

Marriage is not a commitment though. Marriage is a commitment made before God and your community, for the religious among us.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/18 06:43 AM

I don't think you can accurately compare the success or failure of a marriage with a coin toss. That implies that the outcome of the marriage is random, when in reality the outcome depends on the actions of both spouses. Is the risk/reward worth it? For most men, the answer is no. Sex outside of marriage is immoral, and most people would not be happy living celibate lives. So that said, I think marriage is especially worth it to men (who tend to have higher sex drives). Would you say that a fami…

Obviously happiness is better. But if the choices are an unhappy marriage, or divorce, I think sticking out an unhappy marriage is a more moral option.

What’s the point of a legally binding contract though? That’s one of the main issues I see brought up. Well. I think sex outside of marriage is immoral, so that is probably the biggest reason I see for people to get married.

which is very interesting since in the present day it has absolutely nothing to do with the church in anything but a nominal basis I think that depends which circles you run in. I see marriage as a holy covenant between myself, God, and my husband. We had a religious ceremony, and I believe that God is invested in the success of my marriage (and all marriages). Religion is heavily involved in marriage, because divorce means breaking a solemn vow to God--not just to your spouse.

People tend to be shocked and appalled when I say that I don't think unhappiness is a reason to divorce. The number of peop…

Loyalty to stay in a marriage you don't want comes from a place of fear. I suppose it depends on your values. I think divorcing due to not wanting the marriage anymore is a shame. Unhappiness is bearable; it's sticking to your vows through the "for worse" of "for better or for worse."

It's easy to say marry a woman who wants to get married, but you aren't going up to the altar with someone who isn't choosing to be there. Every person assumes the person they are marrying wants to be married. That's not what I'm saying, though. Of course everyone who gets married (presumably) wants to get married. I think the person's views on divorce are much more telling. Do they think it's okay to get divorced if they're unhappy? To me, that's keeping divorce as an option in your back pocket…

I would argue that has to do with marital rape becoming illegal fairly recently in the scope of human history-- we have had less time to invent that many things. Men need to grow a pair and stop rushing in like "white knights" to the rescue. Once men learn to do that (since it doesn't serve their interests anyway), then we'll be well on our way to a more natural solution. That will probably never happen, because men really really like having sex with women. As long as men are thirsty (spoiler alert: it's in their nature), women will always have the upper hand in the SMP.

I don't even know where to start with this. If women are being raped by men in high power positions, it's not because that man is sexually desired. It's because he has enough money, power, and social clout to do what he wants (relatively) free of consequences. You know how very rich people can sometimes get away with other nonsexual crimes? Yes, it is certainly possible that men might find girls attractive before the age of majority, but I don't think that's at all relevant. Because I have yet to meet a woman who won't admit to masturbating if you get to know her well enough. Everyone does it. Some people just don't like admitting to it for various reasons.

She can't miss out on something "enjoyable" when she's never experienced it. Women still have sex drives and a drive to seek out sex while they are virgins, and most women will have begun masturbating by the time they're finished with puberty. Most women don't orgasm as well. Lol, bullshit.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/17 06:44 AM

Because women, like most humans, enjoy sex. So in order to forgo sex and remain a virgin into mid-20s, there needs to be some kind of compelling reason. Religion is a common reason, and as you pointed out, asexuality would be another reason.

Non ironically agree with most of this. I always thought every incarnation of RPW overly vetted men, in like bish u ain’t gonna wanna fuck your man if you weed out every possible “player tell” . Agree. I never agreed with that aspect of it. I stumbled across an old guide for vetting men on RPWi yesterday, and their list of red flags struck me as absurd. Among the list were things like smoking and "incompatible diets." .... Incompatible diets? For real? No one's perfect, man. If you weed out all …

Feminism is actually a sexual strategy for finding the Alphas and weeding out the betas. Calling feminism a "sexual strategy" is flat-out wrong. Whether or not you agree with it, feminism is an ideology that attempts to correct perceived inequality between the sexes. It can in no way be described as a sexual strategy. If you put two and two together, it seems like Red Pilled men and feminists should get along great And I do find VERY many parallels between radical feminism and red pill theory. T…

Let me be clear about one more thing. The context of your question seems to come from a place that assumes the point of marriage is love and/or happiness. This is a modern convention. Prior to the last couple centuries (pretty much when the feminist agenda started creeping up), people did not marry for love. Love was something that had to be expressed after the fact of the marriage, not the reason for the marriage itself. Yes! Absolutely agree with this. Lately I've been examining the idea that …

Our common arguments are weird. They usually boil down to: Person 1: "Let me sacrifice what I want to give you what you want!" We actually get legit irritated about this shit, and sometimes it ratchets up to high volumes (he's a yeller, and I picked up the bad habit of yelling back). But you guys will be the same type of people defending a woman if she ends up doing this. Crazy how bias things are. No, cheating is cheating no matter who does it. "Open marriages" are bullshit and make a mockery of marital vows.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/17 08:04 AM
6

Marriage was always intended to be between one man and one woman. David had multiple wives because he was being disobedient. There are many instances of sin in the Bible, even sin committed by Biblical heroes-- but these are not meant to be emulated. God doesn't immediately punish people for their sins (as you can see by walking outside your house and observing people for about five minutes). That said, we will all eventually be held accountable for our sins on Judgment Day, including sexual sin…
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/17 09:08 PM

You're still faithful. Lmao. You're just having sex while she's medically unable to. You're not leaving her. This is not what faithful means in this context. I appreciate that you think you know better than thousands of years of Bible scholars, but you are wrong.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/17 09:04 PM
4

What vow did you break? "and forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live" That's the vow that we both took, that he would be breaking by seeking sex outside of our marriage. You're just wrong about the definition of adultery. Adultery is any extramarital sex (aka, cheating on your spouse).
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/17 08:59 PM
1

Then you've proven you're selfish. No, I've proven that my marriage vows and the creed of my religion mean something to me. Marriage is for life, and it's a promise to be faithful, among other things. Tell me what's wrong then if a man fucks just to get a nut off? Adultery is immoral. Encouraging your spouse to commit adultery is also immoral.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/17 08:55 PM
1

I'm not the person you're replying to, but I doubt many women would accept what you're proposing. Being celibate if your spouse becomes physically unable to have sex, is literally one of the things you sign up for when you marry a person. No, I would not be okay with my husband having a "free pass" to fuck other women, even if he was otherwise still loving towards me. That isn't part of the deal.

/r/PurplePillDebate19/12/17 09:53 PM
1

I mean this in the most respectful way possible, but it sounds like you got these ideas from teen movies and romcoms. I'm in my 20s, and I can't imagine playing this game with any of my friends. Shoot, I can't imagine hot tubbing with my friends, how weird. I haven't played drinking games since freshman year of college. When we get together with friends, we'll just have a couple drinks or dinner and chat.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/12/17 09:14 PM

Right, that is understandable. So it makes sense to go for women who have values that leave no room for "back ups."

Obligatory, "she can feel however she wants because that's her business and not mine." My kneejerk reaction is that she might be happier if she chilled out. She sounds neurotic. I was thinking "sexist" meant like cultural-sexism, like women should know how to cook well or know how to put on make up or look really pretty if needed. Yeah, I totally see where you're coming from. And I think what you're describing is pretty unavoidable, no matter who you date. I'm not particularly bothered by benign, garden-variety sexism like "women are emotional."
/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/17 07:59 PM

I'm friends with the OP, and I asked him what he meant by "sexist." His example was, "thinks women shouldn't drive large vehicles and thinks a woman should not be president." That is not a person that I could date.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/17 07:46 PM

That's definitely less than ideal, but I don't mind giving direction every time. Don't get me wrong, neither a sexist or autistic man is ideal, but I could deal with a moderately autistic SO. I could not be pleasant to a blatantly sexist man, nor would I want to live with one.

"children do X, adult who kept doing X are children" OP never proved that crying is a trait that is child's trait, rather than a human trait. He is using the common trait "crying" to say that women are children, but a common trait is not enough evidence to say that Group A is Group B. It appears to be the difference between men and woman. Men don't expect society to compensate them when their life choices ends up making it difficult for them to make money, so they do what they can to earn. College graduates with work experience get jobs all the time I'm going to assume that you mean, without work experience. A college grad is much less of a gamble. They're fresh into the work force, presumably you could retain them for a while. As an employer, I would be much less likely to hire a 30-something year old woman with no work experience. The fact that she's middle aged, and has not worked in 10-15 years would set off major alarm bells.

Yes, two is more than one. I'm glad we could clear that up. That said, sometimes a couple already has enough money and they decide that they value other things more than an additional salary. Hypothetically nothing, but you understand that it would be weird to train for a career "just in case we divorce," right? What I really want is just for people to stop referring to the Spacey, Weinstein, etc. cases as "unwanted sexual advances". I get that, and I think better precision of language would help everybody. For most women of decent quality, especially the young ones. You're basically offering your looks (which, by your own words, are nothing extraordinary- "no belly, tall, has hair") and the pleasure of your company. Even assuming that you are quite attractive, and that you are excellent company, what you're offering isn't rare. It's very easy to find men who are offering the same, plus commitment, family, and provision.

Here's my thing. I don't understand how so many red pill men can complain about the death of Marriage 1.0, yet they don't take marriage seriously themselves. Eventually, they become such a critical part of your life and you can't afford (emotionally speaking) to lose them. The loss would be too devastating. This causes a problem though, because then you can no longer freely show your flaws and be honest with them about who you are. Every time you do this you are risking them changing their mind and leaving you. Sometimes it becomes so extreme that you start avoiding this important person intentionally because you fear the possibility of fucking it up…

You know there's that whole bit in marriage vows about, "For better and for worse, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health," right? Did I miss an asterisk in there? Is it supposed to be, "For better or worse* (in case you do something I don't like, then see ya, sucker!)?

Neat, and I smell some condescension. Talking about a woman's body parts isn't inherently objectifying. Wanting to fuck a woman isn't inherently objectifying. Seeing a woman solely as a sexual object, and not as a human with her own life, thoughts, feelings, and desires, is objectification. It's easy to objectify a woman in a porno, harder to objectify Sally from the office who keeps telling you about her cat. Sally might be smoking hot, and you might want to fuck her, but face to face interacti…

Do you see libfems accepting or being ok with men appreciating female physical beauty? Yes, actually. Appreciating female beauty is different from objectifying women or harassing them.

I actually never see libfems being anti-beauty. They're the ones who tend to call makeup a feminist choice, for instance. I do see them trying to redefine beauty to be more inclusive. Your typical feminist isn't anti-beauty, though.

Right, I'm not saying that they need to be married by now. The fact that they've been dating 4 years and can't even talk about marriage is what's setting off red flags for me. By 4 years in, a couple should be able to discuss their future goals for the relationship, regardless of age. Otherwise, OP is just making assumptions that this man will eventually marry her when that might not be in his plans.

Yes, physically very attractive. And by that I mean, high cheekbones and a strong jaw, aquiline nose, tall, and ideally very thin. He could be fit, but no more muscular than ottermode, and shouldn't be chubby at at. I strongly prefer tattoos and long hair, but those aren't strictly necessary.

I don't think there's anything wrong with waiting to marry. Personally, I've been dating my fiance since I was 21, and we're marrying this year, while I'm 27. I believe that men and women are equal. That doesn't mean that men and women are the same. Equal, in this instance, means "of equal value." There are glaring differences between the sexes both physical and behavioral, and trying to bury those differences or pretend that they don't exist is a fool's errand. I believe that women as a whole enjoy dating men who treat them as people of equal worth. I do not believe that women enjoy dating men who treat them like they are men.

You don't think women are attracted to men who make the first move? Are more assertive than women? Take initiative? I don't think this is sexist, because sexism implies negative bias. From the dictionary definition of sexism: "relating to or characterized by prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex." Women desiring masculine men (and assertiveness is a typical masculine trait) is in no way women desiring sexist men.

Sounds like confirmation bias to me. In this thread already, I've seen several women say that a man's attractiveness is very important to them (and I will be the first to admit that, personally). Even when women describe the men they're with, they usually overlook the shallow/sexist features that attracted you to him. I don't think that women are necessarily attracted to "sexist features". It seems likely that attractive men are more likely to be sexist/"assholes" and that women will put up with…

Generally speaking, the same woman will have looked better in her 20s than she does in her 30s. This doesn't mean that she turns into a bridge troll the moment she turns 30, but that as a general rule, female attractiveness is tied to youth. I happen to agree with you. Men are thirsty, and I don't foresee women having a hard time dating in their 30s. I think that part of TRP is revenge fantasy, which is fine-- but I don't see real life reflecting their ideas.

for relationships and marriage those people are off the table for anyone middle class and up. even if they have some money, class permeates through many aspects of life and when you marry someone you marry their family. trailer park girl might be stacked and sweet, but her mom and stepdad have mile long rap sheets and her brother fell off the wagon so you gotta watch that he doesn't steal from you. The most pressing reason I can think of is probably sharing similar values. Social class isn't just an issue of wealth, but of culture and values. UMC/working class pairing will probably run into some issues because of those differences. Community/family approval also ties into it, especially if there is a legacy or inheritance to consider. Also, sheer accessibility. People tend to date those around them, which is going to lead to more dating within their own social class.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/11/17 02:33 AM

How often does a UMC person date/marry someone who works at McDonald's, for example? Not often at all. People tend to date within their own social class.

just the overall way men and women cynically view each other as disposal and replaceable objects This, and you phrased it very well. Are you at all worried that this would put pressure on people to get married earlier? I don't see this as a bad thing. I think people should get married earlier, especially if we're going to tell them to wait until marriage to have sex. It isn't realistic to expect people to be chaste into their mid- to late-20s. I respect your point of view. There is a lot to be disappointed in about the Church today. That said, I don't think that's an argument against Christian morality being able to heal gender relations; that's just an indictment against certain individuals.

Christians cheat and swindle and justify their choices just as much as the non Jesus people, plus the mega churches are like cults with plenty of scandal. While I agree with you, a group of Christians behaving badly doesn't mean that Christianity itself is bad. Cheating, swindling, and building megachurches over helping the poor flies in the face of actual Christian morals. Even the churches would be cleaned up if they followed those morals more closely.

Because sex was intended to be for married couples, and any other use of it is a perversion of God's design. I think the mutual antagonism between men and women is the result of chasing sex as a commodity. If people waited until marriage to have sex, much of pillsphere's advice would become obsolete. "Loving others as yourself" would also go a long way in smoothing over gender relations via kindness.

I think porn and the normalization of commodified sex has damaged gender relations, not to mention the decline in marriage. This is going to sound like a joke, but I think people need Jesus. It's only that considering that RPW already knows some marriages don't last, that it already knows that some abuse can happen, that it feels comfortable with giving advice that would prevent a woman from being able to survive those events. marriage is supposed to be until death do us part. It is supposed to be a lifelong partnership. That does not mean that RPW guarantees that you won't get divorced. You're reading a lot into what I said, and you are assuming that I'm only talking about women-- I'm not. People mostly esteem others based on social standing, and career tends to be a factor. Career and education is one factor, not the only factor. You're replying to a comment I made to someone who denied that career is a factor at all. Who's more respectable, a doctor or an unemployed dude who lives with his parents?

I never said low status women can't find mates. I said people who are unemployed are less likely to be respected. As another poster said elsewhere in this thread, men can date women that they don't respect.

Bricklayers, electricians, carpenters, and so forth. Also farmers, sailors, miners, and so on. People who actually can do something. Office workers with soft hands doing nonsensical "jobs" while gossiping around the water cooler and navigating the intricacies of cubicle politics. Yeah, I see them denigrated a lot. I'm used to the opposite. That's what I'm saying, I see "people who work with their hands" being put down a lot as uneducated. It's assumed that they do that work because they're not s…

See, that's interesting to me. I hadn't considered that we might be coming from different POVs with this. I've never heard "rich boy" used as a serious slur, or heard that middle/upper class men are weak. The worst I've heard is the stereotype that "trust fund kids" are spoiled. On the other hand, being of a working class background is something I've seen many people be proud of. Meanwhile I'm very used to people around me looking down on menial jobs. My mom was beside herself when I was a chef,…

I don't give my respect to neither man nor women for what kind of employment that person has. If this is true, it's not the norm. Most people judge others on their class and social status, which includes career.

I can honestly say that I don't give a fuck. I am very open about my preference for highly attractive partners. Looks are my first and main criteria when picking a SO-- that said, I don't actually give a shit about height as long as he is taller than me. I'm very small. As long as a man isn't a literal midget, he is taller than me.

Marriage is about family and community. Your marriage is not about you. It's about building something bigger than yourself. Love it. Duty carries you through on the days when good feelings don't show up.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/10/17 07:43 AM

For real! This isn't particularly applicable to secular folks, but one of my favorite pieces of advice along those lines is, "Marriage is about holiness, not your happiness." -- Basically, it's a covenant before God and doesn't stop being so just because you're not feeling it anymore.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/10/17 07:42 AM

I really didn't expect to read something like this from a blue piller. But yeah, spot on. In the same vein, never marry someone hoping that they will change. Assume that the bad habits that drive you crazy now will be around for the rest of your lives. You could always be pleasantly surprised, but don't bet on it.

He's married to a fellow STEM girl, and they had their first baby a couple years ago. They're happy together as far as I can tell. I'm still a weird artist, and I'm getting married to another awesome, weird artist/musician in December. All things considered, I think we're both better off this way. Although, I ended up reconverting to Christianity myself, so that was another weird curveball.

I broke up with him. I was 15-16 when we were dating, and he was 19-20. He was a Republican Christian STEM-lord who wanted a housewife, and I was a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed little art kid who wanted to be different. He wanted to marry me and support my art career, and that freaked 16 year old Mads right out. It was so horrifyingly normie. (And before y'all assume that he was an unattractive STEM-lord, he was ripped and had a six pack. It just wasn't my scene. Eat your heart out, TRP.)

"It's easier to face the world when you have someone telling you they love you at the end of the day." I get what you're saying, but in a sense that's what you're "buying" with your commitment. Yes, it does become an expectation, because that's part of the role "boyfriend/girlfriend." You're buying someone to care for you when you're sick, to do your laundry, to go to family/social events with you, etc.. In exchange, you give them the same or a comparable level of similar acts. Just like sex becomes expected, because it's part of the relationship. That's what relationships are. The level of expec…

What about all the infinite permutations available in between? They're irrelevant if a person's goal is marriage, but no one is stopping you from pursuing them.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/10/17 06:28 AM

I know some female friends that tend to go for nerdier guys Probably still attractive nerdy guys, though. "Pursue women who already like you for who you are" is great advice if any women fit that bill. The more attractive you are to begin with, the more likely that is. If "who you are" is an autistic, overweight basement-dweller with bad skin, then you're going to have to change yourself to get any women.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/10/17 06:18 AM
4

I'm actually at a loss for how to respond to this. Usually people enjoy doing most of these things for one another when they're in love. And even if they don't enjoy those things per se, they still want to do them on some level-- caring for a sick SO isn't fun, but you do it because you love them. Posting "together pics" on facebook. Ok, this is stupid though.

What expectations in particular?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/10/17 03:20 AM
6

"What are we?"...uhh people? This is the sound of a woman (or sometimes man, tbf) looking for an exclusive commitment. People who "don't like labels" are usually trying to have a nonexclusive relationship with no obligation to the other party, without having to come out and say so because the other person wouldn't like it. And make all kinds of expectations and rules to follow. Because that's what monogamy is, and a great many people like monogamy. It's the cultural norm.

I agree with you that washing clothes doesn't take 2-3 hours, but 5 minutes is also intellectually dishonest. When I have a week's worth of laundry, it takes 10-15 minutes to sort everything into loads (and check all the pockets, because my fiance likes to leave things in there), 2 minutes to get it into the washer with soap, 10 minutes to hang delicate clothes, 1 minute to get everything else into the washer, and then 15 minutes to fold when it's done. I like your strawman. Instead of appreciation for that, you get a sausage metaphor to point out how they’d rather just give it to the dude that was born with it. In what world do women appreciate men for this? Men shouldn't care what women think about PUA/TRP. They're doing it for themselves, not to make women happy. And yes, welcome to reality, women prefer attractive men and don't care how hard a man worked if the results aren't good. If they're going to get triggered by some woman on reddit, …

I do go out and see friends, but I don't see that as a particularly interesting part of my week. It's fun, but not noteworthy. If all I did was spend my days being social, I would be disappointed with myself for accomplishing nothing. Art has replaced work for me, and so I try to have a good art/life balance.

some people are extroverted and need things like travel and adult conversations. Yes, but most people would be in an office working a 9-5 each weekday, not travelling the world. Replacing a dayjob with projects I actually care about doesn't mean that I'm any less able to go have "adult conversations" and travel. Hell, I have more time to see friends since I'm not stuck at work.
