Just another perspective...My wife is wonderful in every way with the exception of her being almost completely non-empathetic. It's just how she is 'wired'. A reply like the OP's is fairly normal for her but she's a fantastic wife and mother in every other way, just don't look to her for emotional support if you are needy. Now before you judge that harshly I fought stage 4 cancer last year and it almost killed me. Had it not been for her disallowing me to wallow in self-pity and despair I surely…

I'm in my mid 40's and just finishing up treatment for stage 4 throat cancer caused by an HPV infection acquired in my teens (I've never smoked, no other excessive throat cancer risk factors). I'll tell you that the protocol to save your life is incredibly brutal and life-changing. In fact I go tomorrow to get my teeth removed (damaged by the massive dose of rads you get to kill the cancer in your neck) and this is the latest in a string of losses that just continue to mount up. It makes no fisc…

I battled stage 4b cancer last year and it was brutal. I'm a 40's male, probably as middle of the road as a demographic gets. One thing that struck me profoundly was in my chemo room, my radiation center, the cancer surgeon, and my imaging room were all packed with shelves of wigs, offers for free 'women's health services', female hats, shawls and throws with feminine prints, etc. Not one single office of the multiple I visit has a single article geared singly towards male patients. Pink ribbons…

This can't be real. Someone tell me this can't be real. Men don't even justify damage done in a fair fight with each other like they are doing. If this is our future, we are doomed.

I say that because it appears this is an ongoing issue with the kid. He's been told to stop hugging already and still continues. Forcing physical contact on someone else like this needs to dealt with harshly so clear boundaries are established that he understands. I don't think the kid has nefarious motives, it may just be he's lonely or in need of reassurance, but someone's personal space is one of the absolutes that you shouldn't have to fear not having full control of at all times.

I'm with the school on this one. Not everyone wants their private space invaded like that. The kid's going to learn a lesson on respecting people's personal area.

I've a feeling this post will stay with me for a very long time. It's certainly not a criticism but you might consider surrounding yourself with better people. Go to church, volunteer, be where good men tend to go and socialize into the groups. Being so isolated is something of a lifestyle choice (again, no judgmental meant). There are several such men in my church and it's an unspoken 'rule' that we all look out for them on holidays and their birthdays so that your story is avoided.

Actually there is a huge benefit. I have stage 4 tonsil cancer from oral sex when I was a teenager. Trust me, it's a brutal fight. I'm left with facial disfigurement, no saliva, little taste, reworked throat that cannot swallow correctly. Oh, and here's the short list of things you can NEVER do again: drink alcohol, give or receive oral sex, smoke weed, drink very hot beverages. I won't bore you with more. The vaccine can prevent the HPV from setting up shop in the young lad and then he never ha…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
