From what i unferstand, if you train for strength you are doing lpw repetetions with possibility of lot of sets for example squats with 150kg 5x5. For hypertropgy aka muscle gain you are doing reps between 8-12 with lower weights coz its not possible to do it with something heavier. I also think people who train for hypertrophy are doing more exercises per training where if you follow for example starting strenght 5x5 you will only do 3 big lifts per training.
