In recent years, boys in school have also been subjected to all manner of restrictive polices based on gender -- including bans on shorts even though their female classmates are permitted to wear skirts, restrictions on hair length that don't apply to girls, bans on facial hair (imagine a policy insisting that girls must shave off something that grows naturally) In my school we were not allowed to grow our hair long.
