| 1 | What do you think are the most pressing issues facing men’s rights today? The issue with Christianity is that there are varying sects. There are 6 main denominations but over a hundred minor ones. Coptic, Ethiopian orthodox, Eritrean orthodox, all follow circumcision and so does others. Christianity isn't a cohesive one group religion as interpretations of the Bible vary among these groups. Mainstream groups such as catholic or protestant may have not re-embraced it, but other groups did. This is one of the reasons American Christianity and European Christianity diver… | /r/MensRights | 01/10/24 07:45 AM |
| 1 | What do you think are the most pressing issues facing men’s rights today?Judaism, islams, and Christians all originated from the same source. Judaism relies on the Hebrew Bible just like Christianity, but only certain parts with some additional texts. Christianity uses a large portion of Hebrew Bible but ends the order with a prophetic book. While it originated in Christianity, it is not commonly associated with it today. European culture, and by extent American culture as that's where it came from, is heavily rooted in Christianity. Today culture and religion have more separation but it used to be far more intwined. Though circumcision originated in the Bible, it shifted to a cultural practice when the church lost influence and the state was officially separated from it. | 1 | What do you think are the most pressing issues facing men’s rights today? We did a study on this in my college gender studies class. In euro descended cultures, circumcision has been originally sourced to the Bible. As the Bible states, it is to show a token of covenant between a man and the church. A way for parents to show they are raising their son in their faith. It wasn't done to women because women were not considered the head of a family or as significant. During times of prosecution, it was dangerous and a way for Christians and Jewish people to be identified.… | /r/MensRights | 29/09/24 08:26 AM |
