Ran restaurants on the FOH side and can absolutely confirm. I have encountered some badass Latina women in the kitchen but they are exactly what you described, prep or salad. Honestly I’ve never seen a female last longer than a couple weeks working a real sauté/broiler/fryer station.

I’ll never go to a mall for myself but for those that feel the need to shop for gifts for family(I do), I solved that riddle years ago. Everybody gets a bottle of liquor/wine/craft beer that I purchase on the drive out Christmas Eve. A handful of bags, and I’m out the door for $250 or so for 10 people and who doesn’t like free booze?

This is an awesome post! Refreshing to see. Friday(tonight)- work on a surfboard I’m building, get baked, play video games Saturday- surf, drink cold boys with the boys at the beach, replace some specialty bulbs at the casa and install new toilet flush mechanism. Think of things you like and go that route. A friend of mine liked motorcycles, went to a technical school with the sole goal of being a race team mechanic and now 7 years later is working with a superbike team traveling around the country without any baggage and living a pretty rad life. You already have it figured out, just chose something that interests you to some degree and go all in.

This. I thought I was winning by being mid 30’s with no kids, no alimony, and no debt. I still do. Unfortunately I burned most of my 20’s in LTR’s with a girl in college and a fucking “actress”. Both are fun in small doses but don’t get trapped! I wish I’d had access to this sort of info when I was the OP age but if he’s 19, the biggest challenge has yet to come.
