We best shut up everyone who disagrees to avoid fascism I don't know if you are being disingenuous, but no one who opposes Cancel Culture is trying to shut up anyone — we are just asking you to stop trying to get everyone you disagree with fired. So JK Rowlings tweets an abstruse opinion about transsexuality. You think she is mistaken. Right: Making a contrary tweet pointing out her errors. Wrong: Picketing her publisher and trying to get her upcoming books canceled. So Steven Pinker has written…

You're only morally neutral, internally, if you continue to ignore the implications of inequality Wait, so are you saying, you do think (for example) that opposition to affirmative action is racist? These are not supposed to be trick questions. I’m trying to find out what you think. If you would like answers to your questions please return to this conversation with some evidence that you have begun to consider other races. I don’t know what you mean “consider other races”? Did you forget a word?…

You've outright admitted you disagree with racial equality and pretend that your disagreement is with progressivism I have not admitted I disagree with racial equality; I do not disagree with racial equality. You are not worth my time. And yet you continue to spend your so-valuable time. I asked plenty of questions myself that you never responded to. If I left a question unanswered, it was accidental and I apologize. If you will repeat your question, I will endeavor to answer it. No, you'll talk…

Oh, that’s too bad, you were doing so well. You had gotten to a situation where you could actually clarify your beliefs and all of a sudden, you run out of “patience”. I’d like your takes on the following statements: opposing welfare is racist crickets opposing affirmative action is racist crickets opposing reparation is racist crickets opposing minimum wage is racist crickets supporting standardized testing is racist crickets supporting charter schools is racist crickets You write paragraphs an…

Disagreeing with an aspect of progressivism is racist Not generally, only when you're disagreeing with an aspect that is directly in the interests of racial equality. OK, but do you think there is any aspect of progressivism that is not directly in the interests of racial equality? But that’s not really the point. Let’s say that you believe half of progressivism counts and directly in the interests of racial equality and half do not. The effect of your belief is to criminalize half of political …

What I have taken from that article is "that it is racist (old definition) to think that hard work is a virtue of white-culture". Then what do you take from their apology? I genuinely believe your perspective is ignorant and pathetic. You may have a negative opinion of my perspective, but that is irrelevant to your understanding of it. Surely you can just write of ignorant and pathetic as being redefined as solely disagreement Only the fact of disagreement is interesting. Your beliefs about what…

So first you say the definition has changed, but now you say there are multiple definitions. That is quite inconsistent. Well, you seem to adhere to what many people consider the archaic definition. You've already claimed that it's apparently racist to believe in hard work when it is clear that the racism within that scenario lies within the claiming of hard work as a virtue of white culture and not just a part of all cultures. You and I can agree that it is racist (old definition) to think that…

whatever it was. Okay, so we've established that you're not sure what you're talking about We've established that I am not sure what you are talking about It is, as far as I can see, irrefutable that there are two usages of the word racism floating around. One is the dictionary definition: a belief in the inferior or superiority of particular races. The other is almost impossible to put into words, but it is a general sense of opposition to the progressive project. As I say, I believe this duali…

Believing that hard work is specifically white culture and not just something that all humans do is racist. I gotta say, the Museum retracted that statement, whatever it was. Do you think that the Museum was retracting the statement "It is racist to think that only white people work hard"? What were they apologizing for? Are you really that dense? That is the fourth or fifth time you have said something nasty about me. Perhaps it wasn't clear before but I have absolutely no interest in your opin…

Believing that only white people can work had or think rationally is racist. No, believing in hard work and rational thinking is racist. You should put colorblind in quotes, obviously it doesn't mean literally being unable to see color. How does that affect anything? The claim is that figurative colorblindness is racist. That is, unless you agree that the racists are unalterably separate, you're a racist — and should lose your job. you shared an article about people trying to claim that hard wor…

Are you equating following a religion or being gay to being racist? I am. Being racist is intrinsically spreading hatred towards other people. Really? According to the National Museum of African American History and Culture, believing in hard work and rational thought is racist. According to Oprah, being colorblind is racist. According the ADL and about a thousand other groups, believing all lives matter is racist. you should be able to openly hate people for their race. So wait, do you actually…

Only reason she got that much was because she gave the kid HIV. That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works. It’s extraordinarily difficult to pass HIV female-to-male. It doesn't have to be accidental, but it does have to be something where death clearly wasn't the intended result. So if you punch someone with your fist, and he dies, that's manslaughter: you couldn't reasonably have foreseen his death. You deliberately hit someone with your car, that's attempted murder, or at least ADW (assault with a deadly weapon). Given that the driver chased that guy, twice, hard to argue he wasn't trying to kill him.

The left's penchant for elevating victimization to a virtue mostly guarantees they will never be a serious force in this country -- no one is afraid of anyone who constantly proclaims her own fear and weakness -- but it does prove convenient in situations like this. The answer, and you might not like it, is that the whole processus is heavilly rigged against males. That wasn't a real question. I am trying to point out that inequality of outcomes is not proof of discrimination. How many Asian women -- far and away the largest demographic group world-wide -- play for the NFL? If you think the process is rigged, and I don't necessarily disagree, you should protest it whether or not the rigging results in unequal results.

You are talking about the ends, not the means. Suppose I said, "I would like all my employees to have meaningful personal relationship. It enhances their lives and makes them better, happier workers. Therefore -- however 'unfair' it might feel -- I am giving preferences and discounts to hot chicks." No problem with the ends, but I think a lot of people would question the means.

Hey, if they were giving 50% off for hot women, that would be completely different... Seriously, the point of the discount is to attract the kind of people that the offerers want. Why is "hot women" a less offensive category than "women"? In either case, you are ignoring the person's humanity to fulfill some need of your own.

Uh, I don't see any accusation that she covered up evidence (except in your title). Boyfriend, on the other hand, washed the car on purpose, specifically to obstruct justice.

I doubt even Richards would disagree now that she badly mishandled the situation. What I'm curious about is, what would have happened had she complained properly to PyCon, and they refused to take action. PyCon, since it isn't an employer, is almost immune. If she sued them, they could get it dismissed in summary and it would only cost them a few thousand dollars in lawyers fees. Ditto if she sued her own employer. I'm curious what would happen if she sued the alleged harassers' employer. I thin…

Which shows they didn't realize that 1) they were talking amonst themselves, not to her, at her, or involving her. and 2) what they said while sexual in nature, was comments on sex parts that they own. You obviously don't grasp the nature of American "harassment" laws. If she could prove that the jokes created a "hostile environment", she could prevail in a lawsuit.

You cannot say you are offended by a dongle joke and then post a picture from Cards against humanity that says "And academy award for dying goes to the jews Did she really post that? If so, I no longer hate her. It's fucking hilarious -- and I say that as a Jew. Mmmm, I still hate her a little.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
