Is there some sort of stigma that mentally ill people don't partner with attractive people, even if the mentally ill person is attractive themselves?

The only time my LVH looked up on how to clean something is after he let his car get a damn mold infection in it because he somehow cannot clean up his car. It's not the first car this happened to, either. I literally do not understand how someone could let that happen not once but twice.

You live and learn. I'm sorry you went through this. It sounds awful and similar to my ex and tbh a bit similar to my current.... The word "crumbs" really gets to me. Cuz it's seriously like that. Here's something to tide you over for the next several weeks/months I neglect you, then I'll toss you another bone after you have a complete breakdown. Like I said good on you for going no contact. It's not easy!

Yup. Or change the oil on their car, or tie a tie, or literally anything that directly benefits them and only them. The irony is that they don't see the benefit of living in a clean house or knowing how to do these things before they're inevitably alone

who would have thought, in the age of the world of information being at our fingertips, women are expected to be search engines too.

First things, good for you for getting out and going No Contact. It is so hard to do once they have their hooks in you. Second, be glad you didn't have kids with this person. It would make NC impossible and creates a new system (court) where they can abuse you emotionally and psychologically. And granted that the US court system is broken, especially family law, you never know what outcome you get. It takes time to build yourself back up after an experience like this. Some days will be better th…

"But my mom didn't teach me anything! Will you teach me how to clean?" Aka, will you be my mommy, housemaid, bangmaid, raise the kids, and also be the bread winner?

It's such an insult to be told I'm better at cleaning. Either it's clean or it isn't, like do you not know what something clean looks like? Can you not YouTube if you're "sO bAd" at it? No, the expectation is very much still there to just let the women take care of everything quietly, in addition to their very busy professional life. Men just complain about hOw HaRd things are for them when they take on merely an eighth of the mental and domestic load women do day in and day out.

He is 5, he has been through so much and witnessed so much violence. The court system is very complicated but I was his primary caregiver for two years, then I was on supervised visits for a year. In that time he was with his dad, he had a broken leg (caused by his father), was sick enough to be put on IV fluids for nausea and vomiting, and was repeatedly told he was not allowed to see me or his step father because we are "dangerous" people. Now we have 50/50 custody and it sucks. There is no di…

It's better than it was, I guess. He's still trying however he is shooting himself in the foot. It's just an enormous waste of my energy and time. Some days it feels like he will never stop.

Yup. My ex is determined to take my child away from me and force me to do all sorts of psychological treatments. You know, the same guy who would lock me out of the house in the middle of the night, pour his beverages on me because he didn't like my attitude, who also choked me while pregnant and threw a cup of his urine on my face? That guy. My attorney, also a woman, knows he is threatened by my successful life (pre med student and financially stable). The more successful I have become the mor…

Heaven forbid you mention anything negative about porn except for this sub and a few of the porn free subs. Don't you dare speak of how problematic it is for men to expect women to spend money to endure the pain of having the highly coveted hairless look. And if you suggest it's pedophilic, prepare to be mansplained and down voted into oblivion. I got so sick of being told I'm a SWERF for seeing how dark and screwed up the porn industry is. I had a big problem with my partners watching porn unti…

My mom forced me into a breast reduction basically because she thought my breasts were related to my sexuality. (she was/is very old fashioned aka victim blamey) I have nerve damage and ugly scars, they're uneven and just look unnatural. I want a fat transfer to feel better about my breasts because they look fucked and the trauma associated with that. Ultimately ... Yes I do agree with your post, the physical appearance demands from society aka men are ever changing and hinge on women being inse…

Polyamory usually works one of two ways: 1) a woman is "shared" like an item among multiple men 2) a man has his own harem of women. Both situations, women lose, are devalued and objectified. Many times a hierarchy is established and one person feels lesser than, or wants more. There's a deep propensity for manipulation and the destruction of pre-existing relationships. It's even worse when they try to bring children into the picture. Being in one single committed relationship takes work, time, …

As a former SWer, FDS has definitely been able to help me articulate the mixed bag of thoughts that I had on the subject. I couldn't deny the the toll it took on my mental health, but putting into the perspective of patriarchy and oppression really blew my mind. Social workers are much needed and I think you will do great, having both formal education and lived experience.
