Probably. Heart disease affects a significantly greater proportion of the male population than the female population. I can't speak for the South, where racism has hardly lessened at all in the last 50 years; but for most other places in the US, racism towards blacks is either dying out or gone. instead, we have a sort of counter-racism, which doesn't necessarily discriminate against white people, but it gives black people a lot of slack for what they do or what happens to them, because of their race.

I don't know why, but I've always thought if cops ever started questioning me, and I felt that they were going to search me or my phone, the first moment I got I would eat my SIM card. it's a ridiculous idea, and I really hope I don't get put into that situation, because I really don't want to swallow a SIM card. but for whatever reason it's what comes to mind when I play out these scenarios in my head.

AZ here, I don't think so. there really isn't an "if you don't sign this" part of the contract - it's just assumed you do. I don't even know what would happen if I didn't. they tell us if we don't sign it we can't go to school. but they can't really enforce that (I think) because it's state law that anyone who's under 16 or(and?) not yet passed 10th grade has to be in school.

I think I'll try this, thanks for the idea. also, I'm reading the rules again, and it's not as bad as I remember. search of a student's person or vehicle requires "reasonable suspicion that the student possesses" something illegal, dangerous, or threatening, etc. and the due process rights for suspension require at the least an informal hearing. makes me feel a little better about having my rights stripped from me.

yeah, this pisses me off the most. at the beginning of every year, we have to sign a contract saying we've read the rules, and understand and accept any punishment for breaking them, etc. I'm probably one of the very few who's read them (which has been useful before), and I wouldn't agree to them if I had a choice. but when it comes time to turn in the contract, here's what happens: Me: "What if I don't sign this, because I don't agree with it?" the 'good guy thing to do' was turning himself in. regardless of the crime, if someone is caught in a situation where they unknowingly commit a taboo crime, it takes a lot of guts for them to turn themselves in. a lot of guts, and a lot of integrity. it's even better that it helped the daughter.

hey guys: you might be pissed about the standard displayed here, but nothing wrong really happened. if anything, the only person worried about the situation was the kid, who knew the smart thing to do in a potentially threatening situation. his mom wasn't there, what she knew is only what he told her, so she may have perfect reason to panic, or have every reason to be reasonable about it - which she was. so I don't see the point here at all.

reasonable enough. but it still seems this post is about what's wrong with your ex-wife, and you only tied it in to the 'what's wrong with the system' theme at the end. and it would seem you'd have a better argument saying that the laws making it so easy to get arrest warrants are the issue, not the supposed double standard (that probably does exist, but is evidence-deficient).
