If you sign a contract you're bound by law. If someone lies to you and you sign the contract based on said lie then that's fraud and the contract is invalid. edit: I imagine though it's more complicated than that for child support, but someone has had to try suing for fraud at some point. Yes, one may cause a bloody nose while the other could cause long lasting damage to the arm. Torn muscles and ligaments are much more painful and damaging than a controlled fall.
