Meh, this kind of thing happens fairly often on reddit when random mods have random vendettas. I was banned from r/malestudies without ever having been there because tomek77 didn't agree with the things i said on MR. The other day I was banned from r/test for test by Alvine23, but i have absolutely no idea what r/test for test is, or who Alvine23 is. Plus, from a quick glance over your comments, you seem to get nothing but negative karma from 2X which suggests you're trolling. Also, you can't cl…

I wasn't being disparaging. If y'all are so defensive, it ain't my fault. Saying "sexism against men is bad" and discussing it is fine, but the article in question wasn't being sexist against men. Just saying it's not really a good sign to point out sexism where it doesn't exist.
/r/MensRights31/10/10 06:09 AM

So are you saying that women who self-identify as feminists aren't actually feminists? That you have a better idea of who feminists are, that only misandrists are real feminists? Can you say observation bias? Most feminists aren't man-haters: if they hated men so much, why would they want to have romantic relationships with them? There wouldn't be much of a study possible if most feminists were man-haters.
/r/MensRights30/10/10 04:52 PM

Sure, there's anti-male sexism in this world, but that doesn't mean you should talk about it when it's not relevant to the article

That's because what usually happens is the male gets his manhood or sexuality questioned instead. That's the other side of that coin. True, and you should should call people on it. If you don't tell people it's unacceptable, then we're going to live forever in a homophobic society with a very narrow definition of manhood

In this case it might be an okay label, but in most cases, it's inappropriate. If you're on feminist home turf, it would be nice to use a synonym for "crazy" that isn't so loaded. The "privilege" mentioned is more or less that the male in question has the luxury of not having his mental state proclaimed unfit on a regular basis because he is doing or saying something disagreeable. You wanted to know what's the fuss about "crazy" and that's it. It's partly a real problematic term, but also just a…

while men are violent, ugly, stupid, etc. Slowww down there, boy. Where did the article say that? It didn't even mention men. Stop projecting your cynicism
/r/MensRights30/10/10 02:05 PM

I think it's more to do with the social problem that when a woman says or does something that people think is wrong, they call them crazy (i.e. not mentally well or rational) instead of just wrong. Like if a guy does something wrong, he's an asshole. If a girl does something wrong, she's a crazy bitch. Women are sick of being totally dismissed (on alleged grounds of mental state) instead of just insulted It's a feminist semantic pet peeve.

It's not like grown women and men don't get social pressure exerted on them to conform to arbitrary gender roles. The issues in the picture were about younger people, but that doesn't mean adults are excluded from similar, but obviously not identical, issues

For every boy whose mom stops him from playing a sport because she dislikes masculinity (i have never even heard of this before), there are probably at least 100 boys who are pushed into playing competitive sports by their parents that the kid is not really into. This is why you talk about having children before getting married, and make sure you are on the same page. If someone (male or female) changes their mind about whether or not they want to have kids a few years in, you either have to compromise, or break up. Not so hard to figure out. Hard to do ? Yes. No one ever said that testosterone or maculinity is a disease. It's not a bad thing, but you of all people should know that certain expectations of men can be damaging, and many people enforce such expectations in a damaging way. I'm not saying that men and women aren't different, or necessarily that they shouldn't be different, but I'm saying that you have to be mindful of the expectations that limit your self-expression and experiences, and then try to change the expectations you think are unf…

While it's true that "not all women are like that", It's also true that even things that normal women do can exert unfair social pressure on guys. Perfectly nice women doing socially acceptable things can cause gender problems for men. But you have to realize that it isn't women's fault in general, or the individual woman's fault, but the fault of society and the structure of gender that is in place right now. Complaining about the women won't help for anything but consciousness raising. Once yo…

Hmm, I don't know. I (female) am far thriftier than most of the men i know. plus, if women spend more money in the family, it's likely because they are the ones who go and do the shopping: buying food, clothes, and household items for the family. These days, as responsibilities in the home are more equalized between both partners, you'll probably see that start equalize too. But just because they are spending more money does not mean that they are spending it on themselves
/r/MensRights25/08/10 03:51 AM

I was a little girl once. I paid attention because I liked school and thought it was interesting, not because I needed attention. Plus don't you think that some of the boys acting up could be ones that are just doing it for the attention?
/r/MensRights25/08/10 03:47 AM
1

I agree. while changing the education system a bit would be good for kinesthetic learners of both genders, I wonder if we could examine gendered socialization, and try to equalize girls being encouraged to be quiet and boys encouraged to go wild. Then we could have children that both know how to be quiet, and loud, and be relatively happy doing both.
/r/MensRights25/08/10 03:45 AM
1

You're right: smaller class sizes do make education better. I could not imagine teaching a class of 30 children! Ten is hard enough. I wouldn't be able to help very many of the 30, especially if they didn't get it in the first place. Plus if you're always helping the kids who don't get it, the smart kids are get bored with nothing to do.

There is gym class, but only once a week. I think they have a dance (like hip hop-ish lol)class once a week. They can play for like 5 minutes between every 40min class. They also have 40 min at lunchtime to play. Poor kids, they are only 5 and are going to school from 930am-3pm

Unfortunately, It's difficult to teach with kids who are at least not sitting nicely. Good teachers should always keep things interactive, but kids still get bored. I have flash cards and games and colouring activities and such to help teach them the alphabet and phonetics et cetera, but if they are running around and being loud, they're not learning anything despite the varied lesson tactics. What would be a good way to teach this stuff to kinesthetic learners? Songs with actions work pretty we…

But say they are acting out because they need more physical activity, or would respond better to a kinesthetic learning style? Like they aren't being punished BECAUSE they are boys, but they are being punished for doing things that (apparently) boys do... are they being punished for being boys? Is this just apologetics for bad behaviour, or is this a gender issue? Do boys actually learn differently or have different learning needs biologically, and/or because of the way they were treated when th…

You might want to take a look at the book Sex at Dawn. Its a researched history of sex. It purports that: Evolutionarily, women take longer to have orgasms and can have multiple orgasms, and men can only come once at a time, so that they can have sex with many men during a short period, to get the best sperm, to mask who the father is, and generally be social with the community. Women fucked many men, perhaps so the father wasn't known, because a child raised by many possible fathers in a commun…

it's not uncommon for a man to want a "sugar baby". The man gets sex and ego boost from a beautiful, much younger woman, and the woman gets presents or money or w/e for involving herself with someone she normally wouldn't. Symbiotic relationship. Not all people have the same opinion, even though they may share a gender or political affiliations. And you know what? That's good. Why is this youtube video attached? Not only is it off topic, but this man clearly doesn't understand the concept of social freedoms and oppressions, and their larger social and everyday-life ramifications. It's definitely an example of the "imbalanced" side of MR, and honestly, i think that videos like this really hurt the cause, creating a strong possibility of us sane men's rights supporters being grouped in with the crazies who make us look bad

Uhhhh social oppression and physical oppression are different things. You can't deny that women have historically been denied the same social rights as men. "It's okay if women were denied social freedoms, because men took care of them" Uh No. The reason why women had to be taken care of is because society made it impossible to take care of themselves because they had no social rights, like the right to own land, or have a proper career to support herself. This guy seems really intent about wome…

It's not about "not bruising the female ego", it's about not being careful not to have misogynist attitudes. If you're trying to get rid of misandry, tolerating/perpetuating misogyny in the MR is incredibly hypocritical. And yes, you can tell the vice versa to certain feminists too. Obviously there are certain women who cause problems, as well as problems that females as a whole cause for men as a whole. But there are also women who don't cause problems, and men who do. drunk consensual sex, and drunk rape are different things. It depends on the situation. For real, don't you tell your sex partner what you want, at least occasionally, or ask what they want? Then you both get what you want. it doesn't mean it's not spontaneous: you are spontaneously getting eachother to do what you spontaneously want. I have a fabulous sex life. do you? When you are dating someone, there is implied consent, so unless they say NO to something, then you can do whatever. You obviou…

I get it but what you're saying doesn't make sense. in a DUI she is more responsible because she made herself less responsible. A woman is not responsiblr for a rape if she is drunk, the rapist is. It's like if she was driving drunk, and though she was driving okay, another car hit her. Oral sex does not penetrate vaginally. you know what i meant, and what she meant. stop being a dick. You are going to get a successful false rape claim again you if you take up that technicality attitude. Get con…

The reason why the more drunk you are, the more you get dinged for drunk driving, is because the more alcohol you have, the less you know what the fuck is going on, which makes driving more dangerous. It also makes one more vulnerable to rape> I don't see what you're getting at. Like I said, there is alot of grey area between what is rape and what is not. So i suggest, while having drunken sex, all parties be very clear about asking and answering what is okay and what is not. If a person can't a…

Instead of having this conversation, why don't you raise some money, and make a poster about violent crime against men, if you care so much. 1) Sure, but it's not really reported (which is a problem with society, who would say that it was weakness, or didn't happen). But still, this poster isn't about assault, or murder, it's about rape It's true that any male has to run a gamut of social conflicts that could severely wound, scar, cripple or kill him. but, not in reference to rape. Everyone has the potential to be a rapist. However It seems that historically, the vast majority of rape has been rape of women by men. Studio-produced pornography objectively DOES commodify and exploit women (and influences society to commodify and exploit women, to an extent), but agreeing with that doesn't mean you are anti-porn, it could mean that you are for more equitable porn, like amateur porn, or porn that is consciously made to be less sexistly problematic. it's not an argument about whether or not we should have porn, but rather what kind of porn we should have.

When you get a job, you look out for number one. Mostly your job hasn't got your back, so get what you can when you can get it. I'm leaving the country in the middle of summer. When I go for job interviews do I tell them that? No. It wouldn't benefit me, so why would I do it? As long as one's job doesn't totally fuck over the institution when you (seemingly) randomly leave it, it's completely okay to not tell the whole truth. Also, although practical, screening women in interviews for those want…

Are you advocating that women should socially and economically subvert themselves for the good of a man's role in a family? How about you find a solution that makes sense and is actually equitable. Haven't men been "independent of women" for the good part of history? They have been economically and socially independent in society without having to be in a relationship with a women. Has that been harming women? It's only fair that women can do the same. I mean, if you're going to dish it out, you…

I was talking about going what you want in relation to your gender expression (of masculinity, in this case). i don't see how any of those are particularly masculine traits (not to say that they are not part of masculinity): All good, grounded people have those traits. What are we discussing again?

You forget that men also want women. The reason for a relationship is that men want women, women want men: BINGO. Value in the relationship for both participants. The truth is that although couplehood is very nice for either gender, one can be single and happy if they choose to be. But the majority of people choose to have, or at least actively seek partners. Once a couple wants eachother, they start needing eachother. It's part of a relationship. But does a single person fundamentally NEED a pa…

It's not to change them so they are more discriminatory to men. Say if women have equal opportunity in the work force, then 50% of the work force will be men and 50% women. If it used to be 75% men, it wasn't discrimination that it decreased to 50%, just normal social change.

the first and second waves weren't egalitarian. in fact they were pretty racist, classist, and misandrist (amoung other things) at times. The feminism they teach now-a-days in the schools is really egalitarian and self-critical though. At the same time though, not being egalitarian does not equal being against men. Gender and Sex are different things. Sex is biological. Gender is a social construction that gives expectations on how a male or female should act. It's useful to differentiate... Of course there are physical differences between males and females that affect their behaviour/gender expression. It would be silly to deny that.
