two people this reminds me of — i had one friend who was super into casual sex — volumes of it — she would keep tallies and talk about hooking up with men constantly. but there was absolutely no eroticism or charge when she talked about them. i have another friend who is deeply into the erotic and expression of it, but the sex she has is extremely infrequent, and not casual. women typically need intimacy to attain eroticism, and intimacy is the enemy of casual

but why are you assuming they would want it and reject it purely out of an instinct to control? i know so many women who build desire out of commitment rather than the other way around. i know some men like this too.

i’m not into casual sex 🤷‍♀️ not at all religious, i just don’t work that way. my husband and i knew one another for over a year before i acted on my feelings. i’m completely, openly obsessed with him.

can i ask what you mean when you say you need 2 hands to count the amount of times you could have cheated? as in, two of her friends made passes at you? that’s so sad :(

i didn’t suggest AI checkers. i am well aware they can’t catch it properly. when it’s clear the format has been copy/pasted (e.g. this post here) it should merit review. compare author voice to past comment/post history, it’s clear the same person didn’t write the two. i’ve also been accused of copy-pasting AI, but i don’t think that means attempts to circumvent it are fruitless

yes, you’re right. i mean that it is rare in relation to the admiration and objectification that beautiful women receive, which can be (and often is) harmful too. the insults and humiliation tactics happen at a high frequency, and rare was not the right word to use. you’re not acknowledging the inherent flaw in presenting your “phenomenon”. negging accounts for part of it, but all these things (trolls in comment sections, negging, men venting about dating frustrations and generalizing, harmful &…

i see where you’re coming from, and can empathize, but you’re also creating a strawman and calling it a “phenomenon”. this happens frequently in this sub — i think the bulk of discussions revolve around arguing about hypotheticals — and it doesn’t really reveal anything other than the bias of the observer. and i don’t say bias as a bad thing! it’s just a thing that exists that everyone has. the “phenomenon” you describe is basically negging lol, and many men do admit to doing this and detail the…

if you don’t find the particular AI voice extremely telling, it’s quite obvious in a format sense when things are lifted directly from chat gpt, with the subheadings, emojis, bullet points, etc. users should be able to report AI posts and flag them for moderator review. ETA: this article from the NYT is a great read if you’re curious. it’s a web archive so no paywall. additionally, we don’t have a foolproof way of identifying it, as it’s of course stolen from human writers, but we also don’t hav…

can you start banning people who flood the page with obvious AI slop? it’s mounds of text with zero substance and totally unnecessary

this comment feels creepy

idk why people say this about people like pete davidson or adam driver!! they’re both tall and super charismatic, and both have avid fan bases who profess their hotness, but known as ugly-hot or whatever the fuck??
/r/PurplePillDebate06/03/26 12:56 AM

like, irl or in online spaces? my working theory is most of the women online who love to talk about how men suck, aren’t attractive, etc are the most desperate irl. solely anecdotal based on several past experiences.

i’m not made of straw. not sure if you think you’re replying to any of the things i am actually saying, or if you’re arguing with an imaginary person. i don’t believe courting was forced on women by men, and i didn’t say anything even remotely close to that. you claimed modern women invented the concept of courtship, and that isn’t true. the scholar i mentioned, joseph campbell, isn’t a feminist. he analyzes comparative mythologies from the ancient to the modern lens, and the way he describes th…

exactly, or participate in certain activities or spheres without immediately having their masculinity questioned.

the modern concept of courtship was invented by medieval troubadours, not modern women lol

perceptions cease to be about their actions and would instead be based on … what? their physical attractiveness? because that’s what women continue to be valued on. actions are the only astute way to judge any person, man or woman, no?

it’s exactly for this reason i barely ever kept dating apps installed on my phone — a couple weeks at most? i was overwhelmed by being the focus of so much overt attention and found it impossible to actually develop attraction. like, it’s a TERRIBLE way to meet people and a worse way to date!

strawwoman? you’re doing the thing where you lump a bunch of general traits you associate with Progressive Woman into one personality, and then get upset about contradictions in circumstances that you have just invented. this is a stereotype you are constructing

I think what this commenter is trying to say, however obtusely? is that one’s dating history and sexual preferences don’t always align perfectly

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
