I also was able to detach from obsessive negative thoughts using escitalopram! I got really lucky finding an antidepressant that worked for me on the first try. I’d tried everything other treatment form, and I still wanted to unalive until I got on medication. It also helped me focus at work, so I could take on higher paying jobs, which eased the financial difficulties that partly fueled my depression. I wanted to add that antidepressants may not work if you’re still using depressants, like alco…

Feeling sad thinking about how this applies to my ex. He’d always shove me off him because he was “too hot” to cuddle after sex. Then refuse to even hug me after showering because he was trying to dry off. No wonder I was constantly depressed during those 4 ½ years. I was touch-starved.

You would basically want to be with someone who supports your weight loss efforts. Yes. Some people in this thread have brought up that high value men are attracted to fat women. However, it’s my experience that fat fetishists do not support their partner’s weight loss. Even if they say “do what you have to do for your health”, the minute I mention going to the gym more often, they pull away. It doesn’t matter that I’m still willing to participate in the fantasy. If I’m losing weight, then I los…

I can’t find a professional in my country who doesn’t prescribe Body Positivity bull crap as the treatment. I was in a hospital-led binge eating recovery program from August 2019 to January 2020, and I gained weight faster on their diet plan. They ENCOURAGED weight gain during the program—and all of the participants were already morbidly obese. It was absolutely bonkers. I’m searching for a therapist right now and vetting them super hard to let them know I’m not open to HAES or body positivity.

Do you think a doctor would prescribe adderall even though I have a history of vomit-purging too? My GP refused to prescribe me Vyvanse or Wellbutrin because it can cause heart problems in people with purging behaviours, apparently. (Haven’t purged since November 30.)

Good question, I’m glad you brought that up. Yes. My main concern with obesity is end-of-life quality. My mom was totally burnt out caring for my father who gave himself cancer and Type II diabetes with his sedentary lifestyle. Even after he had bariatric surgery and lost the weight, he experienced every complication possible because he didn’t change his lifestyle. I don’t want to be a burden on my partner like that, and vice versa. If a partner is obese, they MUST be in the process of losing we…

My manifesto has two parts: The Practical: homemaking skills like cooking, cleaning, decorating, laundry. Frugal choices that benefit my household: gardening, couponing, composting, making things from scratch, etc. Wanting to take a supportive role in my man’s life. The desire to help my partner grow and realize his dreams. The desire to be involved in our community and make it better. Which segues into the second part: The Philosophy: I have chosen to see the world as it is. I’m not trying to f…

Yes, it’s absolutely my fault that I cheated. I tried to break up with my boyfriend last week because as you said, things will never be the same and he will always be doubting me. But when I tried to break up with him, he said he wouldn’t accept that and he was determined to forgive me and make it work. What does it mean and where do I go from here?

He lives with his parents because it’s affordable and comfortable, even though they make him unhappy. He has a full-time job and is very responsible with money. Everything is great except for the lack of sex. And my poor behaviour in the past. I'm grateful for the wonderful weekend I had with my BF. I'm grateful that all three parts of the experimental dinner I made without recipes turned out being delicious! I'm grateful we decided to work things out in November (I posted about it here). I think the best thing about this isn’t the grand romantic gesture of sensual shower time. It’s that you both understand each other’s needs and each other’s love languages. If my man did this it would feel contrived because it’s just not him. But if he left me fresh towels in the washroom and had gotten some nice-smelling hotel soaps from his business trip, my heart would swell with gratitude.

He did not take it well. The last I saw of him, we were both crying and I was running away from him on the street and he couldn't follow me because he wasn't wearing shoes. Hi drunk_fish1, no we don't live together. I live with roommates. He lives with his family and I visit 2-3 times a week, usually staying for the weekend. We used to split visits 50/50 at my place and his place, however after about a year the visits skewed 90/10 of me visiting him. An update: thank you everyone for listening and responding. I haven’t talked to my BF yet. Two things made me stop and reflect on the situation. I’m not sure what to call this creation, but I rubbed a pork shoulder with salt and Italian seasoning and put it in the slow cooker with 1 cup celery and 1 cup onion. After 10 hours together it turned into freaking amazing low-carb herby pulled pork. I also made vegetable fritters from leeks, spaghetti squash, broccoli, parsley, and gluten-free breadcrumbs. After nibbling and meal prepping all afternoon, I consequently have no appetite for dinner.

Just noting that all of your weight loss talk is "woulds" and "coulds". You're not losing weight because you're not doing. You're "trying". How about actually doing? As long as you're in the research phase, you'll never lose weight. Do it. Or prepare yourself for the inevitable break-up.

Yes, for a 180 lb person. I'd like to weigh less. (Clocked in at 176 this morning. Baby steps.)

I'd love a lonely nerd... The BBW dating scene doesn't interest me at all. I don't want a partner who's going to coddle me, or worse, enable me to gain more weight. I want to lose weight and be active, and want a partner who supports that.

Great post! It's a relief to know that even though it's important to be polite and friendly, that it's impossible to be friends with a guy, especially one who rejects me. I thought my inability to pursue a friendship after being rejected was because I was too immature to do so.

I feel as thought different users are giving me contradicting advice. In another comment, someone told me as long as I am taking steps towards my health, I am doing right. Another person said I am deserving of love... another person says I don't deserve anything and I have to work for it. I'm confused.

Sorry, I thought settling was looked down upon in TRP/RPW, and I didn't understand how her fat friend dating another fat person isn't the both of them settling for each other. Therefore I didn't understand why u/M_riane was using this couple as an example. Are they not codependent? If they were truly RedPill compliant, they would both lose weight in order to be a healthy, happy couple. Otherwise, they're both just a waste of space. This is from what I understand of TRP so far.

Wanted to clarify that I don't catfish. My online photos are full-body and recent. Before meeting with anyone in person, I send them a picture of myself and 'remind' them that I'm fat, and give them permission to cancel on the date if they think this might be an issue. In the past some guys have been disturbed by my obsession with my weight, but if I didn't make a big deal about it, then they would accuse me of catfishing. It's one or the other.

I actually know how to knit and crochet! I haven't in a while, even though it makes me happy, because I had to throw all of my yarn away after a bed bug scare (at least I don't have those). Money is also a huge issue. I don't go out with my friends or join clubs because I can't afford to. It'd be awesome to take some dance courses or art classes, but again, no money. If I took all the money I spent on convenience food, then there'd be a lot more flexibility in my budget, but it'll still require …

How do I address the hostility and bitterness in me?

My resistance to "just being friends" is what I'll be tackling next in therapy. Aside from memories of being rejected in high school and being ridiculed for having crushes/feelings as a fat person, "Just friends" is a term that's loaded with real, negative implications. When someone says they want to be "just friends", that person thinks you're disgusting and a waste of space and a horrible person for making them feel put upon with your crush on them. Moreover, the person has no actual intent of…

Hi Neon-Socks, in terms of basic hygiene I'm fine. I have excellent posture because I sing! I shower regularly, wear deodorant, brush my teeth, and smell good (or don't have a smell). My hair sucks. It's cut short, clean and brushed but there are no styling looks that work for me. I look ridiculous in anything too trendy. Same with clothes, although I do a good job of hiding rolls and appearing neat and tidy, if incredibly dowdy. For the time being I don't bother with makeup because I'm too fat …

My best friend is overweight too He's not the guy you would look at on the subway I am confused about how this is not 'settling'. For the record, the guy who friendzoned me was skinny and not unattractive but nowhere near 'magazine perfect'. But I thought he was cute anyway. I tend to go for 4-6s because that's what I'm attracted to. Anyone objectively hotter than that is out of my league--my body can't even find them attractive anymore. Is this self-conditioning, or could it mean that my evolut…
