This is a low value man, imo. Get out, OP.

It’s been explained to me that it’s about submission and servicing your partner.

Many people have toxic, terrible parents and never follow in their footsteps. Both my parents are addicts and I’ve never touched a drug. My mother was a child molester and physically and emotionally abusive. I’ve become a loving mother and wife. You have to do what you think is best. But if we were all judged by the sins of our parents, there would be no chance to break the cycle.

Fellow nurse here! CVICU 🥰 What much of the public doesn’t understand about nursing, particularly bedside, is that it’s a very risky job. We are frequently assaulted by our patients with no repercussions for them. Yes, you can press charges, but nothing will come of it. Many women, especially more traditional women, are attracted to this career because of our nurturing nature. This career allows us a place to provide compassion and care for people. Don’t ever lose that. That being said, you have…

It’s not quackery! It’s absolutely what is happening chemically in our brains with any addiction. You hit the nail on the head.

First of all, thank you for sharing this with us. It’s a difficult subject to discuss. Second, I think you know what you need to do. Maybe you just need some people cheering you on or giving it to you straight. Porn hurts a lot of relationships. You’re at the point where you need to find the strength in yourself to quit or risk losing your relationship. It’s not just about the relationship, of course. You say yourself that you’re unsatisfied. I think with time and healing from your addiction, yo…

Joshua Weissman makes a lot of “scary” foods very approachable. I haven’t met a single recipe of his I didn’t love.

Pursuit of the man was a poor choice of words, thank you. I mean pursuit of a relationship with an older man. Interest in, search for, goal to find, etc.

I think that dating older men works out well for many women and it’s traditionally been beneficial. The issues are as follows (and you’ll have to decide whether they make or break your pursuit of an older man): - Generational/age differences can make it hard to relate on some fundamental levels. You may find that you have difficulty understanding each other’s needs and priorities in relationships, but this can be worked through. - Is he going to want to have children? The larger the age gap, or …

Exercise has been shown to be beneficial for libido, as well. This is extremely important in marriage, especially years down the road.

After 4 years, I’d expect you know each other’s morals and values. You likely know each other’s level of cleanliness at home. You know each other’s career and family goals. You know each other’s religious beliefs. There’s not much to ask, other than is this your person? If yes, marry. If no, end things soon rather than later.

Absolutely! He said instead of going out, he stopped dating. Which allowed him to focus on his career. It also gave him a larger sense of responsibility, which caused him to work harder. Starting a family completely changes your focus, particularly as a young man.

I am not a feminist. It sounds great to support “women’s rights,” but that’s not actually what they’re supporting.

I used to work for Francis Ford Coppola (directed The Godfather series and Apocalypse Now). He told me the best decision he ever made for his career was to get married. He said if he had waited, he may never have been successful. I always found that interesting.

In my opinion, a man who is insecure enough to be threatened by intelligence is losing value. That’s not very alpha. My husband and I are in very different fields. I’m in medicine and he’s in carpentry. He considers me smarter than him in some areas and I think he’s smarter in some areas. My love builds the most beautiful homes. He can build a cozy house for family, a sterile dentist’s office, or a detailed and artistic mansion, each completed to perfection and tailored to the homeowner’s vision…

I plan my meals for the week, check the recipes and make a list with exactly what I need (2 white onions, 3lbs chicken breast, etc.). I organize it by aisle in the grocery store because I’m nuts lol But simply grouping by “dairy, produce, meat, frozen foods, etc.” will help your search. It helps me save a lot of money and I also don’t buy many unnecessary items. We waste less food this way, as well. Since you don’t cook much, I would recommend grabbing a pantry stable or two every time you shop …

That’s when it all changed for me too. I became a Christian at 24, and it changed the trajectory of my life forever. My husband and I submit to each other, which I believe is the key to happiness. It’s not about me submitting to him only. We mutually respect each other, we both put the other first. And we’re incredibly happy! We’ve had a total of 2 arguments in 4 years together. If you’re always putting the other person first and they’re putting you first, there’s nothing to argue about.

My biggest and most helpful job in our house is cooking. I cook a large variety of foods and I’m constantly trying new, creative things. Some days I’ll make spaghetti, others I’ll make chicken roulades on a cauliflower purée. I also always make his lunch (most often from leftovers). If I make his lunch from leftovers, I take measures to make it as close to the original quality as possible. For example, if I made burgers, I would toast, butter, and wrap the buns separately in tin foil so they don…

Dressing like a tomboy doesn’t mean you aren’t or can’t be feminine. Femininity is just as much about your behavior as it is your look.

I’m assuming you’re not going to take everyone’s advice to leave… so I’ll give you this advice alternatively. You need to have a real conversation with him where you set boundaries and tell him how much it hurt you. Then you need to follow through with your boundaries, and if he crosses them again you cannot stay. If he does it again, he has proven he is not a person that will respect you or remain faithful. This is not a person you should commit to a life with. **Said advice is no guarantee tha…

One could argue that arranged marriages don’t really occur outside of singular cultures, religions, or communities. That tends to be the purpose of an arranged marriage. I have only known one person who entered an arranged marriage, but it seemed to work well for the modern era. They still have a courtship period and they fell in love before they were married. There wasn’t physical intimacy, but definitely emotional intimacy beforehand.

One large benefit I see is that generally the families are more likely to like your spouse, since they had a hand in selecting them. That would relieve a lot of the “your family hates me” fights that I have seen among couples.

I mean this nonjudgmentally, but do you act like you enjoy it? It’s not uncommon for women to pretend to enjoy sex when they really don’t. We like to please our partners. The thing is… they like to please us, too. It’s generally, the biggest turn on for a man when his wife experiences pleasure. So, have you told him what you like? You know his needs, but does he know yours? If you have acted enthused by his activities when you really don’t, you’re in a tricky place. Explaining to him now that yo…

I’m my experience, having dated on both sides of the political spectrum… I think it comes down to a difference in morals and values at the end of the day. It’s very hard to be married to someone with different political beliefs. Are there people who do it? Sure. But ask yourself, “is this someone I can raise my kids with?” Because what happens when a big issue comes up with your child and you have fundamentally different ways of handling it according to your values? Now, I have a ton of liberal …

It’s hard! Our culture has taught us that men are pigs, but we know that’s not true. Most men want to be loved and cared for, like we do. You did the right thing by taking a step back and asking for advice. It gives you time to marinate and think about the best actions, and I think that was wise.

How long has he been divorced? You said very recently, but didn’t elaborate. Keep in mind…. He was married for 22 years. He doesn’t know how to date anymore. It’s a practice and rules and etiquette have shifted since he got married before. Additionally, (and consider why he got divorced if you know and it applies to this statement), he’s older so he’s likely learned how to communicate and show interest at this point. If it wasn’t working, he’d probably tell you. Don’t assume just because he’s in…

Yes, that’s a valid point. Culturally, there are many reasons to avoid pork. Especially related to the OT. But I truly have never heard of them eating their own poop. It was just interesting lol

Well, there’s a huge trend of free-range chickens. So I find it odd that he can’t find a “suitable” option. May just be preference. Additionally, I raised pigs for many years and I’ve never seen one eat its own feces. They’re actually very clean animals, when properly cared for. But this is unrelated to OPs issue lol The issue appears to be a lack of boundaries.

While a healthy diet may be in all of our best interest, the approach is important. By throwing her food away, that she worked hard for and paid for, he’s showing her that he doesn’t respect her time, property, or feelings. The bigger issue is the controlling behavior and lack of respect. The diet is a moot point.

I feel very strongly that the cornerstone of a good relationship is both parties submit to each other. The man may lead the house, but he submits to his wife in other ways. By throwing out your food in your own house (which you did not live together in) and throwing away bread that you brought to his house, he is disrespecting you, your wants, and your time/money. He is not showing flexibility. I absolutely submit to my husband, but we also have clear boundaries. If he had done something like th…

I agree with this. I believe what attracted my husband to me was that I didn’t fit the “modern” female mold. All the other women were promiscuous and going out on the weekends. I was into cooking for him, didn’t have any “guy friends,” and I was a very good communicator and listener. We waited for nearly 6 months, after we had fallen in love. Additionally, this behavior led me to a good man who shared my values. This is important. Because while marriage is the goal, sustaining a marriage takes w…

That’s a good point. Many modern men and women are afraid of responsibility. This is a cycle I hope to break with my own children.

See, that particular instance seems to be financially driven. Having lived in poverty for a lot of my childhood and early adulthood, I do understand that fear. He probably doesn’t realize the benefit of having that unconditional love paired with someone keeping the home.

Yes! This is very true. It’s miserable women who tend to look down on those for their life choices.

I live in California, and there is a lot of radical feminism here. I’ve heard women state, “I hope my daughter doesn’t want to be just a mom,” as if that isn’t the most important job. Ironically, the majority of men would love to have a stay at home wife. Probably partially in response to the radical feminism (aka man-hating).

Flirting isn’t making the first move. It’s indicating attraction. Not the same as asking a man out. Many men have a hard time recognizing subtle signals.

As someone who spent a very long time chasing marriage over love, I can firmly say, “don’t settle.” It is worth it to wait for your person. You can have a nice guy, someone who adores you, and a passionate, thrilling love. You don’t need to choose one over the other. Passion without love lacks commitment. Commitment without passion is unfulfilling, as well. It appears you need more time to recover and gather your thoughts. 2 years is a long relationship; give yourself time to mourn.
