I'm saying that on reddit there is a trend of pretending that private prisons are much more prevalent that they nearly are, and pretending like deprivatizing them would fix so many issues. I'm saying that is just a small part of the picture, and that more effective prison audits, fixing the courts that, and more effective reintegration programs, especially for nonviolent felons who have a very hard time after their incarceration, are what we should spend more time talking about. I'm saying thatI…

Private prisons in the United States incarcerated 115,428 people in 2019, representing 8% of the total state and federal prison population. I know private prison bad and everything, but most prisons are already government run, and deprivatizing prisons is not the fix to the justice system reddit seems to think it is. Mass incarceration over petty charges, improper care of prisoners, and lack of support for programs to reform and reintegrate those imprisoned are some changes that actually need to…

The low effort trolls are actually exactly the ones that become an issue though. A few devoted trolls are bad, but a huge mass of trolls all at once can really fuck someone up, even if they are low effort.

I started typing a response to your asinine comment, but realized it is just a waste of time. I should have heeded the words of Mark Twain: "Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience." You win this argument. Also, just to lay out what I am saying really clearly so you don't misinterpret it, you are an idiot.

The reason cars account for more is because there is an order of magnitude more driving than there is flying, dumbass. At any rate, there are plenty of people that have made changes that make a meaningful reduction to their emmissions that could talk about it. When you aspire to be better than you are, a lack of perfection makes you human, while a lack of meaningful effort makes you a hypocrite.

Air travel has a huge impact on your carbon footprint, much larger than consuming dairy products. Traveling a lot by air ≠ zero carbon footprint, or anything close to it. It's not that hard. Once again, just so there is no misunderstanding, I actually agree that people should be more conscious of what they consume and try to reduce their carbon footprint. I just think that this particular person is a hypocrite.

It literally is hypocrisy though. It does not invalidate what he says, but it does make him a hypocrite. By the standard presented here lots of public figures are hypocrites, but still not all. As far as private individuals go, even fewer would be considered hypocrites.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
