I mean yes I like to keep a debate and I enjoy talking about things that I also happen to like/know/enjoy and show her my point of view but sometimes it just happens that the other person sees you as "too into the date/hang out" and will start to avoid you in the future

No don't worry I caught the idea, it was a great portrayal of the situation. I think that it's really important to accept the part after the "laugh", be it mocking and realising that person isn't right for you and trying to distance yourself from them, or she agreeing with your decision and trying to reach a common ground. I am asking because you know, I don't want to be in any means "excessive" or really "into it" because I'm afraid that I'll scare her away and she will view me as a "too clingy…

What do you mean by a "challenging guy" or confident? Is it like approaching a girl and trying to start up a conversation in order to know her and try to get her number or...? And challenging as in being active to that conversation and showing your own points of view?
