Definitely heard the 2nd part in the voice of Sgt Hartman.

This. ☝🏼 Archive them somewhere (physical media or online) where looking at them takes an actual intentional choice. There are many reasons why one day you would possibly want or need to see them again. Deletion is a permanent solution.

Can you say more? are you saying on alternate years to file as HoH? (When you are claiming the child?)

The original window is there for a reason. If she wants to spend the time/money to be told the above in court by a judge, then she has that right. The question is whether you want the items as well, or if you are willing to give them to her as a sign of good faith.

Ohhh. I get you. This is more about the actual act of giving it back. The dog is clearly your possession. Yeah, I would not expect it (or any other possession that is yours) to be given back voluntarily until it is ordered so, and even then, that order might have to be enforced. It sucks that there are people who have no values or integrity. I'm sorry, man.

Are you going through mediation? Depends on the state, but it's clear that the dog was your property prior to marriage, and therefore yours. (This is usually true for both "stuff" and dependents, right?) Unless there is some sort of written statement formalizing the dog as a gift to her, I don't see how she has any claim to it or use for it as a bargaining chip. If everything was verbal between y'all, then I imagine a lawyer would simply say that she took your possession and you want it returned…

Echoing the others: don't leave the house yet... that is what any and every attorney would tell you. Consult with a good one, first, then make a plan. You said you already have a child in a 50/50 arrangement? I would call that a good thing, as opposed to you seeing them less. So I take it you all don't have any children together, just with previous partners? Then depending on where you live, it should be fairly cut and dried... the house is an asset that was acquired during the marriage and will…

This. If you know of the accounts beforehand, then by all means ask her for access since typically you have every right to a portion of those funds... and do it in writing so that later you can show an unwillingness to cooperate if she refuses.

Some good advice here. In the end, it all goes back to the decree, and yes. It should even out. But absolutely expect her to try to by default take advantage of any positive gain for her, and be incredulous that you would either ever question her or try to make things even on your end.

I concur this is not true. I live in TX and know many many cases of 50/50.

I don't have much to add as there is lot here already: Time. It takes time. You WILL get there. Please believe that. When I was going through it, I was stuck like you on what we had had. But more and more honest scrutiny of that revealed that perhaps I had not been honest with myself about what it really was. One day while lamenting the loss of what I had, something crept in: the thought of what could be... and how good that could be. The "old" part of me quickly shut that down: "it won't be goo…

Yeah man... I too detest this and all the other Hallmark Holidays, as someone above so aptly put it. I think it's the right thing to do to offer for the kids to be with her today, full stop. I love also the idea of giving the kids the choice of whether they want to go. My daughter is with her mom today, so we didn't have to go through all the scheduling stuff, thank god. I will text her HMD, and that's that.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
