You're on to something here. However, I believe that we all—not just women—argue with our emotions. We identify with certain beliefs and ideas. When people challenge those beliefs, they challenge our identities. If agree and amplify doesn't work for you, I suggest agree and reframe. Girl: "Baby, you never take me out anymore." Guy: "That's because I wanted to spend some more time alone with you." This is just one example. If you used sparingly, it always works.
