Some doctors are problem solvers. They identify a problem. They treat that problem. They have no empathy, no bedside manner, and no ability to act understanding and patient about a patient's pain or quality of life concerns if there is no serious underlying medical condition. Some of those people are actually good doctors that are amazing at treating their patient's bodies and providing quality care, they just don't help with pain, mental or physical. (My completely amazing male dentist that has…

As a woman, I will admit that my parents help me financially (mainly because I'm a student). But I'll also mention that I've read that woman are more likely to have roommates.

But that charge was also dropped, and endangering someone's life in that manner is criminal.

They left a 14-year-old who was drunk to the point where she allegedly could not walk and needed to be carried (according to her friend, but it sounds like at least one other person verified that she was carried) out in the snow on a cold night. Regardless of whether she was raped, they clearly endangered the life of a young teen when she was already unable to defend herself and upset (one article states that multiple parties verified that she was crying) and possibly scared or in pain.

According to some other articles I read, the actual reason the rapist only got 30 days was because the girl's suicide left her unable to testify and there wasn't sufficient evidence for more serious prosecution.

It's because the article is focused on a particular recent case that happened to involve a female teen and a male adult, and also because of the writer's own experiences. The writer is not speaking entirely generally.

This video contains a brief discussion of a game that she describes as "one of my favorite games" [paraphrased].

i believe gay men outnumber gay women by a significant percent. I found this really interesting, and I was looking around and trying to find a source, but I've been having trouble verifying. According to this article from 2002, "A 1993 Janus Report estimated that nine percent of men and five percent of women had more than "occasional" homosexual relationships." but it also explains that "The Family Research Report says "around 2-3% of men, and 2% of women, are homosexual or bisexual."" The repor…

In this case, it's been 30 years, and I think that we should take her at her word. However, if a 15-year-old came to me with this story, I would probably not assume that it wasn't rape just because she said it wasn't. Someone could feel like he/she wasn't raped because of denial, pressure from sexual partners, friend or family, or even a lack of understanding of what rape is. I'm more or less speaking from personal experience, and still trying to understand how I feel about what happened to me a…

I think some people are a bit uncomfortable with anyone discussing this girl in a sexual light, because of her age. Yes, it's a slam on Clooney, but it's still suggesting that this 9-year-old girl may be sexually desirable to someone (because it places an upper limit but not a lower limit). Obviously no one really think that anyone in that room saw her in a sexual way, but it can still make people uncomfortable.

I very much agree that sexually active couples need more options. A large part of this is that options for men are ridiculously limited. A much smaller part (but one that I still care about) is that options for women are not exactly optimal.

The issue (from a women's perspective) is that birth control has a lot of (sometimes serious) side effects. I have friends who cannot use it. (Also, mine is $250 a year, which is a lot for a student who works 5 hours a week.)

No one dates people they find unattractive. That wouldn't make any sense. (Of course, different people find different things attractive.)

Men are underrepresented in the caring professsions (e.g. nursing, education, social work, psychological etc.) on college campuses to an equal or greater degree than women are in STEM's. To some extent, this is true (although I'm not sure how much of it is true because of discrimination and how much is caused by personal choice and the lack of desirability of some of these professions). However, people are concerned about the gender gap in STEM majors because those are the high-paying majors and …

I'd guess that more girls are taken into these places. Mostly because I'd assume that the boys that are considered "troubled" would be fairly likely to have ended up in jail or juvie by this point.

All the old generation University professors that started in the 1960íes are married to former graduate students. From what I know, this still happens on occasion, but typically after the student graduates. I don't have a problem with coworkers and even superiors/employees dating in a healthy environment, but sexual harassment (such as forced sexual favors) is entirely different.

The point behind showing that embarrassing tidbit, was to show the inconsistencies. Except for the driving drunk, nothing about this was embarrassing, and you shouldn't be embarrassed. You got your friend home safely, and respected her wishes and boundaries. Nothing bad happened. Maybe you didn't get sex, but that's not really anything to be embarrassed about. It'll happen at some point (maybe with her, maybe with someone else).

I'm not convinced. You didn't give consent when you were sleeping, you gave consent earlier (when you were awake and still had the ability to consent). I'm really not sure.

I ended up driving her home. I was drunk too! Too drunk to drive in fact. The real crime here is that you endangered lives by driving when you were intoxicated, too intoxicated to drive (according to you). Last week, one of my friends was drunk and I ended up having to drive her back home, an hour away, and then taking the train back the next day (not getting back until 4PM). I would have done anything to keep her from driving intoxicated and putting herself and others in danger. What were you t…

As a woman, I would just like to remind you that as many as one quarter of women may be menstruating at any point in time. This adds additional issues.

Well, it's great the someone is speaking up for men's rights and trying to solve the problem of extremely biased child support in the US. However, this solution will probably end up having a lot of unintended side effects that might be fairly harmful if put into practice. It's important to consider the actual effect such a solution would have.

I, too, am looking forward for this to be available. I would still stay on the pill, though. I just want to be extra-safe.
