I don't think confidence is always being in control, if you're truly confident then you're OK with not being in control all the time. There's this false correlation and connection between control and confidence that is damaging. Who gives a shit if you're in control over something petty that you even don't care about? You're smart and talented, you don't necessarily have to be confident from those things, but the only way you will be taken seriously is if you legitimately contribute.
