Context is subjective in the analyzation of this scenario, yes. That’s exactly what I’m referring to. We’re all comparing, and throwing, apples and oranges at each other. Y’all have missed my pretty parts with all the fruit whizzing by, so I don’t have any mysterious bruising to explain to Mrs Tchakowski next door, and for that I am grateful.

What seems to be going on in this thread since none of us were actually there, is we are just projecting our own expectations based on our previous experiences and wounds. Apparently, you have been hurt by girls who you think expect to be given things for just being girls. My experience comes from straight men being entitled assholes. The reality is, none of us know the small details of what actually happened, so we just have to take her tweet at face value.

I take it that you’ve never been to a bar or a club before. Maybe you are 15. I don’t know. But this is something that happens all the time in bars and clubs all over the world. Your question is like saying, “just because you stuck your hand out and said hello, why would you expect the other person to grab it and shake it?”

Different context completely. If you are out with your buddies, there is at least an agreed-upon context before anyone goes to the bar. So, there is this cultural phenomenon that happens in bars all over the world where complete strangers walk up to complete strangers and offer to buy them drinks. This happens between all genders. It would not be unreasonable for her to just assume that this very commonly played-out scenario is happening to her.
