3 months in and I believe time is what helps the most. There's no substitute for it is what I've found so far. Worst part about divorce imo is losing your best friend. It's like your grieving someone who's alive and dead at the same time.

I feel this. It's been about a month since she officially moved out and 3 months since the divorce started which happened a week after our 6 year anniversary. I kept the home as I owned it before we met and I can hear the ghosts of my former life sometimes when I'm all alone here. The worst part about divorce imo is losing your best friend. I was in the military in my early 20s and divorce has been worse than anything I ever dealt with in the army. Some days are better than others though. Hope y…

3 months since my divorce started and I still hear the ghosts of my former life in my home when I'm here alone. Some days are better than others. Thanks for sharing

I'm just a little over a month into the process and the first few days were absolute hell. I feel much better now than I did a month ago but still have a ways to go. It's a tough pill to swallow but she's gone now. It's not about getting her back, it's about getting YOU back. If you're like me you made compromise after compromise to try to make someone else happy and lost yourself in the process. It's time to heal now. My dm is open if you need someone to talk to who's also going through the pro…

When she said she wanted a divorce. Just felt wrong to wear it after that. Still have the indent it left and feels like everyone notices it like it's a sore thumb or something.

Thanks for sharing. I'm just a little over a month into the process and while It's definitely been better than the first few days I still have a ways to go. Dating again is the last thing on my mind honestly. It's like that part of me and interest in it died when the divorce happened.

I send her a happy mother's day text and have my daughter make her a card or take her to the store to pick one out

Don't fall for it. When women ask for a divorce it's something they've been thinking about for months or even years prior. Fight for 50/50 custody if that's what you truly want and get the hell out of there.

I'm just a week in since finding out I was getting a divorce and the first 3 days were absolute hell. Like every second was hell. I didn't even eat anything for those 3 days. I think it's perfectly okay to just be miserable and hurt at first. Going back to the gym and starting personal therapy has helped so far for me. I've learned that it's not about getting her or your old life back, it's about getting YOU back. If you're like me you lost yourself years ago just trying to make her happy with c…

Thanks for the post. I'm a week into the process and have had ups and downs. Started personal therapy and going to the gym again. Some days I feel motivated and other days I feel like a complete failure.

One thing I've learned in this process from my own experience and a reoccurring theme that I've seen online reading and listening to people's stories is that a man will sacrifice his happiness for his family and a woman will sacrifice her family for her happiness.

Couple's therapy sucks ass. It's usually too little too late by the time you go and it just feels like an argument with an audience. I'm only a week in since finding out I'm getting a divorce and I had my first session yesterday for personal therapy. It's a completely different dynamic. Not being interrupted every 5 seconds and actually able to get your point across without your feelings being disregarded is actually quite a nice change.

Ruining a family and then trying to bring it back together 6 months later is diabolical behavior.

We're still living together for the next couple months until the end of the school year but the house has never felt more empty.

Same here. Pretty much have no support system, no friends, family lives out of state. I put all of my eggs in that basket and now have nothing to show for it. Every second is hell. Will be starting therapy tomorrow.

Just a couple days in after getting the news and thanks for sharing this. It's been really rough so far. This sub has helped with my sanity or what's left of it. Haven't even eaten anything in almost 2 days. Starting personal therapy tomorrow. Just hard to believe it'll get better honestly.

I'll keep coming back to this thread too in the future to see how far I've come. Hopefully I'm a new man then.

Was just told the news last night and this hits home. I wanna believe it gets better but it just doesn't feel like it will. I'm starting therapy in a couple days. I feel paralyzed and today has felt like an eternity.

Just signed up for personal therapy which I've always been hesitant to do. I appreciate all of the responses during this challenging time.

Yeah I just feel paralyzed right now. Like it's a nightmare that I'm gonna wake up from and be normal again. Haven't eaten in over 24 hours. Have no motivation to do anything. This is the worst feeling I've ever felt before.

Was just told she wants a divorce last night so still very emotional about it. I would say yes I would. We came into each other's lives at the perfect time it seemed like. We both had a child outside of the relationship so we had that bond from the start. I really tried to make it work and wish I could've done more for the marriage.

Same for me. Just was told last night. Took it off immediately. Just feels wrong to wear it.

Appreciate the response. I'll do my best to keep it together tonight. This will be my second divorce and I'm only 33. Thought I would never have to feel this way again. Can't help but feel like a complete failure. Feels like a nightmare that I'm gonna wake up from and everything will be back to normal.

Feeling this as I was told she wants a divorce last night. Just me and 2 kids in the house while she went to work and it's torture. Several people and so many things in the house yet it feels absolutely empty.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
