Yeah. Getting away from dating apps is super important. The process is much slower, but you tend to come across people who are much more 'real'. Way less mental health damage in the process, too.

look for 18-23 age bracket I personally disagree on this. I personally find someone close to your own age is important in terms of maturity level and general shared experiences. If I'm 33 I don't wanna be trying to date an 18 year old, the maturity just wouldn't be there and it would be a hugely unbalanced relationship. Also I wouldn't want a girl who thinks she's so much better than her peers and thinks that she deserves an older man. edit: also financial stability. The girl I'm engaged to pays…

Upvotes and downvotes are insane. Don't take them too seriously. But at least you know there are others that agree with you, that's the main reason why I commented.

My best success in meeting girls was when I wasn't trying to meet girls. Just enjoying rock climbing or language learning. Also the girls I met in this way tended to be way more balanced. They had their own lives and weren't dependant on me for entertainment or validation.

You can see in the article they didn't get married because she refused to sign a marriage contract. So she likely wouldn't sign other contracts.

From a biological point of view, the body wants risk/damage to the balls to be a huge pain. Because losing your balls is biologically almost on par with death, I think women don't realise quite how painful it can be.

I'd rather she get off lightly and 5 other women exonerate men to get the guilt of their chests. It's a shit situation for the men, but it's better to take steps to fix the men's lives in this situation than to just blindly take revenge with a massive sentence on a woman coming forward willingly.
/r/MensRights15/05/17 12:03 PM

But now he isn't having the rest of his life ruined by having "RAPIST" on his record. Yeah, it sucks, but throwing the book at her will only make other people unwilling to come clean about false accusations. The judge probably just wants less people unjustly imprisoned.
/r/MensRights15/05/17 12:02 PM
1

This is super tricky, but throwing the book at her would just be a disincentive for other women to come forward and exonerate men in these situations. Yeah, it's shit that he lost those years, and it's shit that he only gets 90k. But I'd rather other women see this and feel incentivised to come forward and exonerate men they've falsely committed. We need to encourage people to exonerate victims of false accusations, not make ourselves feel good by taking revenge.

May I ask you, have you lived in Japan? Because this is something I live and experience. I see the way women are treated. I'm not saying there isn't stuff that is completely crap for men too. I'm saying Japan has a very long way to go in terms of gender equality and women's right are still behind the west (it is improving though). And they are turning people away on the colour of their skin. All I did was change the skin colour from non-Japanese, to black, as a different way of looking at the si…

Shocking I know, expecting women to do anything at all. Japanese men have plenty of responsibilities too. I am meaning they are specifically seen as servants still, despite having the same level of responsibilities within the school as the male teachers they are expected to serve tea to. It's not. Do they hate westerners? Do they stand around denouncing them and calling for them to be deported from the country? Listen, if you're happy to have all-female spaces and all-males spaces, then you migh…

The author refers to not letting non-Japanese into bars as not racist. He couldn't be more wrong. It is absolutely racist. Also, Japan has some serious issues surrounding gender equality still. Dare I say it, Japan kinda needs first wave feminism (without all the patriarchy garbage). Over here women are expected to bring out tea for the men (even when they're both the same level of teacher, this is a woman's responsibility). Girls are also seriously underachieving in my experience teaching in Ja…

There was a thread about this the other day on /r/MensRants. Basically, I think they did it due to problems with downvote brigades in the past. I've come across a fair few subs that have experimented with removing the downvote button, just due to people not following reddiquette and downvoting what they don't agree with, while still letting good comments rise through upvotes. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, however if you don't like it, you can just un-tick the box that says "Use subreddit sty…

Sadly there's a lot of misinformation coming out about both meat and meat substitutes from both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, so often it is really hard to know the facts.

As an ethical vegetarian, I don't need people associating vegetarianism and veganism with this... People already think we're crazy enough as it is. Gender has nothing to do with it, we just don't like cruelty to animals.

Yeah, I have long hair, I keep it tied back in a pony-tail, but I feel I have to put in extra work to look professional in other ways (eg: co-workers don't wear ties, but I do).
/r/MensRights13/03/13 09:59 AM

I feel like that falls into it too. Women are ok for having short or long hair. But, if you're a man and grow your hair out, people are gonna be giving you all kinds of grief for it.

As a teacher I am seeing kids suffering for lack of male role models in their lives. Hell, they are even suffering for lack of adult males in their lives, some of them are terrified of adult males because of this (namely in elementary school).

You happened to chose two fat people, how about this or this.
/r/MensRights19/03/12 02:11 AM

Exactly, I think the women in the article OP linked are focussing on the social perception of it. So it moves away from being considered "disgusting" and shameful and becomes simply a preference like you mentioned. My take on it is hair is just a part of womanhood and it feels pointless to try and deny something so harmless. It actually took my girlfriend longer than me to become ok with the concept of not shaving her armpits because it is actually other females who really enforce gender images …
/r/MensRights19/03/12 12:41 AM
4

They also sweat heaps. I don't understand how it is unhygienic. As long as you wash it is fine. Both my girlfriend and I don't shave nor trim and we haven't noticed anything in terms of excess smell or any other kind of "unhygienicness". It is also inconvenient as hell for females to shave their underarms.
/r/MensRights19/03/12 12:32 AM
14

So why don't guys shave their underarms then if it's unhygienic? It is only considered unattractive because we get told it's unattractive, because it's the norm, with washing it is perfectly hygienic too. It is similar to how females say being uncircumcised is unhygienic and unattractive, with washing it is perfectly hygienic and it is only considered unattractive because of what they're used to, because they're told that being uncut is unattractive and unhygienic. I know circumcision is a much …

This does actually suck when females can wear nice breezy looking skirts in a professional setting.

In all seriousness, why is it disgusting? It's just hair.
/r/MensRights18/03/12 10:59 PM

Each gender is still pretty held down by gender expectations in terms of appearance. The obsession with hair removal is kinda weird too. Hair is one of the things that makes a 10 year old different to an adult, but yet both genders are pretty obsessed with keeping it away. There are gender-appearance issues that us guys are stuck with too, for example I can't be taken seriously in a professional setting with long hair, but a female can be with short hair. I can't wear some kinda skirt/3 quarter …

I feel like the moderation policy here is what was great. /r/feminism was known for being very heavy on the censoring anything they didn't agree with. Also, as AnnArchist mentioned, not much can be done without an IP ban feature.

At least it points out that it is easier to get employment as a female (I mean, unless you wanna do dangerous, physical work).

Probably because of some of the incredibly misandrist stuff that has popped up on there before.

Notice the karma on that account, it's a troll.
/r/MensRights24/12/11 03:24 AM

Forcing gender conforming of males definitely still happens. The worst thing is, guys just take it lying down, most guys don't wanna grow their hair long because either their work won't allow it, or they worry what girls will say.

Yeah, often the person who attempts to get 4chan to be their personal army has it turn against them.
/r/MensRights28/10/11 07:10 AM

Yeah, but the article has been completely changed, it is pretty extreme, so I can completely understand why people would be unhappy about it.
/r/MensRights14/10/11 09:04 AM
14

I guess the issue is, it is often someone's first port of call when investigating something new that they're hearing about for the first time, so this revision will change people's initial experience of what MR is.
/r/MensRights14/10/11 08:21 AM

This makes me think about how feminists were complaining about there not being enough female content creators in wikipedia, the reason there aren't is because they haven't chosen to, when it comes to something that is unpaid like that or being part of open source projects, there isn't anything but oneself stopping someone.
/r/MensRights12/10/11 04:40 AM

If women want to balance out the numbers in dangerous jobs like firefighting, I think that is completely fair. The example they used is bodyweight based only and not particularly representative of an actual door. If they used a regular door, her training would come in as she would know how to break one down. This makes me think of people saying men can't be teachers because they aren't paternal enough.

In serious wondering, I wonder how feminists feel about the word 'rape' being used so much in games, if they understand it has split away from their concept of a man dominating a woman, to refer to domination within a game.
/r/MensRights13/08/11 02:58 AM
3

Well there's plenty of evidence of /r/feminisms going heavy on the banhammer, simply because they don't like politely worded arguments being put forth. So that is why people are quick to assume all feminists are like that (at least on reddit).
/r/MensRights21/07/11 01:06 AM

Yeah, I was actually expecting tsigolohcysp to say 'they are at stage 1'.
/r/MensRights21/07/11 01:01 AM

I don't think we should just go off hearsay. However I still am waiting for a statement by the /r/feminisms mods explaining their deletion of posts (ones that even they can't construe as trolling).

Hmmm.
/r/MensRights13/07/11 07:08 AM

If we censor opposing views, then we just become a big circlejerk of agreeing opinions, instead of having decent discussion (see /r/feminisms).
/r/MensRights13/07/11 05:58 AM
3

Oh, in my opinion it seems to be a very common attitude (by no means an attitude that every woman holds), propagated by typical woman's magazines. Difference in experience I guess.
/r/MensRights12/07/11 09:53 AM
4

How is pointing out a double standard misogynistic, is it because you believe it is uncommon? In my experience it is very common. I honestly would like an answer because I don't understand where you are coming from with that.
/r/MensRights12/07/11 09:29 AM
3

The current moderation style is really good in my opinion, quite hands off, bans only go out to spammers, 'trolls' simply get downvoted and ignored, but not silenced, even if we don't like something that is said, if it leads to discussion, it isn't banworthy.
/r/MensRights12/07/11 09:27 AM
2

We complain there aren't enough females in unpleasant jobs such as this, then we complain when they are in these jobs. I think this more so a problem resulting from the level of training and equipment that prison guards receive, a 'as cheap as possible' approach, not a gender problem, with the correct training and equipment any women could be as competent as a man, and vice versa.
/r/MensRights11/07/11 06:30 AM

/r/MensRights18/06/11 11:59 PM

We don't try to claim that women are lesbians for wearing pants, we're falling into a trap if we think the same way about a guy wanting to wear a dress.
/r/MensRights18/06/11 11:25 PM
3

I can see an advantage to it, making guys aware that sex with a women who is drunk, is grounds for rape (even if they're both drunk). So maybe it might help a guy avoid a situation where him and a drunk girl shack up, she regrets it in the morning and gets to charge him with rape.
/r/MensRights12/06/11 12:49 AM
2

Out of interest, have you messaged their mod's to see what they'll say? They'll probably just use the excuse of saying you were trolling, but it's worth a try. I guess if that turns up no positive results, try finding out what happens if you post in /r/feminisms or /r/feminism exposing their censorship? I guess that has the problem of maybe most people already know about their blatant censorship.
/r/MensRights09/06/11 12:50 AM

Oh wow, I'm more taken aback by what's in the sidebar in that subreddit. Only comments from women are welcome here, all others will be removed without warning. Equality at it's finest huh?

Wow... So many deleted comments in that thread, it's censorship-ville in there.
/r/MensRights28/05/11 02:21 AM
2

Have you messaged them asking about the deletions? Keep polite and see what they say, screencap it so we can see what they say, then maybe crosspost it to feminisms to try let their community at large know the censorship of polite rational discussion that is occurring (although it'll probably get deleted).
/r/MensRights28/05/11 01:10 AM

Quite a problem that those subreddits can be so foreboding that people are afraid to post a dissenting opinion (no criticism of you, it's a criticism of /r/feminism(s)). Although there's a chance they'd just delete the submission and call it trolling.
/r/MensRights30/04/11 05:39 AM

I'm quite disappointed that it isn't only you they have a problem with, they have a problem with the entire concept of a MRA and a feminist jointly moderating, I thought that could have worked very well.
/r/MensRights30/04/11 03:06 AM

I think we should all grow our hair long to fight the masculine stereotype. Just because I have long hair doesn't mean I want to be a female, doesn't mean I'm gay, it means I have long hair (and it's rad).

Think of it as a way to piss them off even more, what is more annoying than someone you are trying to rile up, just turning their back on you and walking off. (Although there is always the case of when they punch you in the back of the head, not sure what to do in that situation)
/r/MensRights10/03/11 04:02 AM

My view on it is that this should happen, especially for men, but not just for men, I think this is very important to children. If later in their life, they get a disease, knowing their actual father and being able to take his medical history into account is very important, also, they deserve to know. It seems to be the case that not getting these tests hurts males and children, while getting them makes females a bit offended.
/r/MensRights02/03/11 09:16 PM

I've always disliked this personally, having been to both an all boys school and a co-ed school I can say that in my experience, the boys from the single sex school were less adjusted when they came out the other end. To over simplify, it doesn't make sense to try and raise children in a majorily single sex environment, then expect them to interact well once they go into a co-ed environment.

Grow your hair long as a statement, argue to hell with them. Females are allowed long or short hair, so should males. Just keep it tidy, Wash and condition it frequently, brush it every day, get the split ends trimmed, then they can't argue that it looks untidy. After awhile they should give up. It doesn't seem like much, but it's a double standard that really bothers me as a long haired guy. It is an outright sexist, antiquated custom which has no meaning. If you give in, it's just another doub…

Read the comments from shperk and bouda, they give a bit of perspective on the situation. Edit: Here's a permalink to the comments I'm referring to.

Wow, she's just being outright condescending in her sweeping generalisations. ...young men are “made to feel like sexual predators” by college campuses that address students in seminars on date rape. (Oh, no, poor men! You don’t get to blame “biology” for rape anymore? Poor baby!)

"One of these days Alice, one of these days..." We still live in the 50's right? Sexism is ok right?

Well, 1 litre of petrol costs $1.97, an 800gram block of cheese costs between $8-$10, a litre of milk is $2.50, a loaf of bread can be anywhere from $1 to $5. $431 to register a passenger car for 12 months. Rent varies alot, his rent is mentioned as being $220, which is towards the lower end to rent a property. Just giving you these values, because even though Fatalistic told you the exchange rate, it doesn't perfectly equate into purchasing power, as a lot of our prices are quite jacked up.

That article breaks down that man's weekly costs and how he's stuggling; I added up his costs (subtracted the $100 which he goes into debt with each week), he's earning about $16.25 NZD an hour, well over the minimum wage ($12.75 NZD), I'd hate to see how badly a person on minimum wage fares (the child support would be less, but not by much).

Things might or might not change if we know about things such as this. They'll definitely not change if we don't know however.

Yeah, I didn't understand that, why did he have to pay costs?

Here's some followup that I found in one of the other threads for this video

Are you a cop? You sure sound like one. Just as a trivial note to that question, the person you're replying to has the name bad_keisatsu, keisatsu means cop in japanese.

I guess the issue is, is that the school was negligent in allowing a person who had done this type of thing before, to connect with the minors at the school.

Ugh, I hate that climate of pedophobia has affected me too as a male. I was at a cafe having a coffee with my father (he's 58), and a kid walking by tripped up and scraped his knee. My father went over to help, cleaned his knee with a napkin and some water, just what any caring person would do. However the whole time I was squirming a bit, worried that he'd come off as a pedo even though he had only intentions of wanting to help. Then I imagined the same situation of a 58 year old woman doing th…

Mysoginy is just going to result in people dismissing men's rights. Edit: Thinking about it, I was wrong to call this mysoginy, your proposed violence isn't because she is female, but because she is being aggressive and violent herself. Sorry.

Forgive me for asking, but, how is feminism connected to this? I personally thought it was machoism that resulted male suicides moreso; males don't feel they can talk to their friends about serious things lest they be perceived and bullied for being 'soft'. I'm not doubting that there is alot of anti-male rhetoric out there, but I can't seem to find any info about it that isn't over-the-top put on your tinfoil hat conspiracy material.

Funnily enough, Labour is actually closer to the latin, which is why the change was made, the lingering 'u' in the UK english spelling is French derived, so you could actually say that Labor is more 'pure'.

Yeah, problem with carrying knives is it means more people start carrying knives, which means your chance to get shanked goes up yourself.
