Nope, I understood what you were saying, I just think you're wrong, respectfully of course. I just want what is best for this movement and this sub, as I'm sure you do as well. I think OP raised some good points about the rhetoric around here, and I'm trying to back that up. If you disagree then that's fair, but it's better for all of us to have talked about than to have ignored it.

In that case then don't detract from what discussion is already there and don't make us look bad to visitors. You don't need to comment on every post if you have nothing to say that will contribute.

I think you missed the point. Consider your rhetoric and how you and this sub are perceived by all of the highly upvoted sarcastic and assumptuous replies. It does make us look like hatemongers and cry babies. If you want to change the way MRM is perceived, than that change has to start here by policing our own rhetoric.

When every comment in a thread is "Blah Blah Patriarchy, Misogyny! /s" we don't look like intelligent, rational people, we look like immature fucks. These sarcastic don't contribute anything to the discussion. If anything they derail discussion and make us look like women haters to anyone visiting our sub. If we want Mens' Rights to be taken seriously, this is kind of rhetoric we shouldn't allow, because as OP said, it makes us no better than the feminists.

Did you even read the post? If so, the point clearly went right over your head. OP was referring the the rhetoric and the overall attitude this sub is presenting. We want to look like rational, level headed people, but the most up voted comments are usually irrational, emotional, sarcastic, and a lot of times hateful. We don't want people coming to this sub to think that is the kind of speech that represents us and our beliefs.

Had you ever seen Jimmy Kimmel's show? It was a running joke that he ended every show with an apology to Matt Damon for having to bump him. As a result Kimmel and Damon had kind of a fake celebrity rivalry and Matt Damon's presence on the show was always especially noteworthy.

I knew of her outside of her relationship with Kimmel. She has a lot od merit on her own as a comedian. You can't declare your opinion of it like it's fact

To offer another prospective on that 3rd question: I think feminist organizations have done many great things and won many battles for equality. However, I think that many of their goals today aim more to just solely benefit women and not benefit equality. That's to say, I believe they are pushing for policies that may endanger me or my future son, because we live in a society where we can be easily taken advantage of and where we are guilty until proven innocent. All that being said, I don't ha…

That is awesome. I've always wanted to get into baby sitting, but I never really got that chance since I'm big intimidating guy. In reality I have a little brother 14 years younger than me that I helped raise, so I know a lot more about it than people think (including changing stinky diapers). It's sucks that society is reluctant to give guys like us a chance, but please stick with it! Your good work and dedication to your job is slowly changing the mindset that men cannot be good caregivers.

So you think if a person (man or woman) is feeling sexually harassed at work, he/she should just get over it and continue to work in a hostile environment?

I guess I didn't think of it like that. But you've taken a much more reasonable view on the issue than a lot of other people who commented on this post. It seemed that a lot of people were demonizing a 13 year old who didn't really understand the full extent of her actions. I guess that "witchhunt" is really what I take issue with.

Valid point, but since it's not OP's child, he doesn't really have much stance to but into the situation. I would be pissed if someone in my community went on the internet seeking advice on to how to get my child (male OR female) in trouble for an incident that does not at all involve him. If OP really wanted to protect his child, there are far better options than taking to the internet so a bunch of adults can badmouth a 13 year old.

I didn't say we shouldn't. The school should definitely enforce punishments fairly across gender lines. If people think I'm saying the opposite, then I must not have made myself clear. I'm saying that fixing one instance of the problem doesn't fix the problem.

Bitchhunt* Just kidding.... The point was that he has no right to intrude on this situation since it doesn't involve him or his child. If he really wants to help, there are more constructive options than insisting a 13 girl is punished.

I thought the same thing. Sure, I think it was wrong for her to not be punished like any male student would have, but that does not give OP the right to start a witchhunt against a 13 year old girl when it wasn't even his kid. It's not really fair for OP to insist that the school suspends this girl (as well as get the police involved), because the incident has nothing to do with him or his child. If the argument is that "If this behavior continues to go unpunished, it could happen to my child," …
