My biggest realization is about texting. I was pretty decent at opening, but was having really shitty luck following up. To the point where I was analyzing texts that I sent over and over, worrying about wording/what I should say etc. I realized that it really didn't matter what I said. If the girl was interested in escalating the relationship, she'll probably laugh at whatever stupid shit I say anyways and just be happy that I texted. And if she wasn't, well no amount of Shakespearean suaveness…

Are you religious? The only other person I've heard who only cites "using it as a tool" as the only reason people drink was making an argument from a religious point of view. Yes, if the only reason you drink is to gain the courage to approach women, then it could be hurting your ability to do the same thing in a sober environment. Thanks man! It was really the follow up conversation that did it for me. She wasn't just being responsive to questions, she was leading the conversation at times and giving up a lot more information than required for just being friendly. Good luck to you in the future!
