100% this. I actually have multiple women I follow who are supportive of men's issues. I've had many creators on my feed talking about how many men are treated unfairly at times.

I don't think they are purposefully misinterpreting it, I think they have a skewed view about things and a negative bias in their expectation of things that MRAs say. Everybody looks to match experience with expectations so if there is any way that things can be interpreted to fit their existing point of view, even if it's a stretch, then that's how they will interpret it. Fitting something to expectations is an easier mental task than processing new ideas and adjusting your perspective. As to t…

I think it's worth making sure this is communicated correctly to be heard. Talking about it in terms of the hypocrisy sounds like a deflection. It could easily be taken as meaning you will take their stance seriously once they drop the hypocrisy and care about little boys too. It can cause people to not listen. I think a more productive approach is to say "You're absolutely right, this is a subject that needs to be talked about and we need to make sure we teach about consent as part of preparing…

In case anyone is in doubt about not talking to the police without an attorney, here's the logical reasoning. You start out in a state of innocence, and the police are trying to gather information to show you aren't innocent. Any information you give to police isn't able to make you more innocent as you already are. Any information you give them can only cause you to be considered less innocent. If they already have information to cause them to believe you aren't innocent, you need an attorney t…

The two things being said here don't have to be mutually exclusive. It's possible to say he has spent his life preaching toxic attitudes and encouraging some of the worst behavior in humanity and also say I can see why what he's going through would be tough for anyone. You can identify that the lack of sympathy he's receiving is a result of extolling and encouraging that attitude and surrounding himself with like minded people and point out that the lack of sympathy is a direct result of his pas…

There are still some legitimate areas where women don't have equality. Sure, it's not the case with a lot of the things the Feminist movement claims, but there are still a few. There is still a need for pushing for equality for women in those areas. The problem with feminism is they do that and they try to push men down too. It's a difficult problem, how do you push for equality in those remaining areas without legitimizing the bad parts of modern feminism? It's wrong to say those problems don't…

You might want to read up about unconscious bias. The whole point of it is it affects your behavior in ways you aren't aware of unless you are actively attempting to be aware of it. Someone doesn't go through the thought process of "I'll give her a higher grade, where can I give her extra points". It's more along the lines of when a problem has multiple steps and has say 10 points awarded but the final answer was wrong, trying to give partial credit they might give a girl a stronger benefit of t…

I don't think anybody (here at least) is going to disagree that girls are being given higher grades than boys for the same work. There's sufficient studies showing this is the case. It's wrong, plain and simple. I disagree about it being their problem who they choose to listen to. If we want to be heard and listened to, we need to make sure there's no wiff of hatred in how we talk about things. If you want someone to listen to what you have to say, metaphorically standing next to an end of the w…

There's a lot of aggression in your tone. I hope you can find a calmer place some time soon. This subreddit is generally good. I'd guesstimate about 95% constructive comments/content which is way better than you see in feminist subreddits. The problem is when you have as much content as this subreddit has, that 5% in absolute terms gives more than enough ammo for people to point to and say MRM's are misogynist. And if that 5% is all people see, then they believe those saying it. Saying most teac…

Thank you for this. I wish I had 1000 upvotes for you. As a full time single father I have had many conversations with my daughter over the years about what equality really means and in general she gets it. But recently she's started to develop a bit of an anti-MRM opinion while still holding the egalitarian viewpoints. It's the anti-women sexist comments that you are talking about having no place here that she's come across from time to time and it confirms the anti-MRM stuff she's come across.…

I'm getting $50 per month for my 16yo daughter. She was paying me more as her income was reasonable due to alimony. When the alimony ended, her mom was in college at the time and I really didn't want to be going back and forth in court to squeeze her for money and as I earn plenty any child support payment from her would be less than $300 per month I just accepted the minimum of $50 per month. She's supposed to pay a percentage of our daughtera recreational activities and medical bills and a bun…

He did more than grab her butt. Her IG account links to a legal website article detailing the case. From the article: “In May 2015, while the show was filming in Chicago, Rainey and Taylor went on an off-camera date in apparent violation of the competition rules. Taylor took Rainey to a suburban sports bar, and at one point during the evening, they were on an elevated stage in full view of club patrons. With a stage light shining on them, Taylor lifted Rainey’s skirt and grabbed her bare buttock…

I've been in that position where my ex wife was being abusive to me in public and a woman stepped in and told my ex to leave me alone.

When I was with my ex wife there was an incident where I was trying to get away from her, I forget why, but the point is I was trying to get her to leave me alone. I was on the footpath outside a car dealership and she was following me. I turned to her and told her to leave me alone, that her continuing to follow me when I needed some space from her was part of the problem and she needed to stop. There was a homeless woman who had been standing on the corner with an "anything helps" type of sign…

My recent divorce cost me about $110K if you include the cash and stock the judge awarded my ex. $10K can be a serious low ball if kids are involved.

I wasn't in any trouble and the cop wasn't trying to pin anything on me so I don't believe he was intentionally trying to tell me something incorrect.

I think you might be confusing there’s no reason to be scared of a trans person with people not being scared. People are afraid of things they don't understand. I've seen discussions on Facebook where some women were saying that their grandchildren weren't going to be safe by allowing a trans person to use the women's restroom. One woman didn't appreciate my pointing out that statistically female relatives abduct children more then anyone so her grandchildren were actually at a greater risk from…

On the surface this sounds like great progress but I'm really suspicious as it's Alabama. I suspect this is in preparation for adding a rape exemption to the anti-abortion law after it's been challenged in the Supreme court. I suspect the plan is to over turn roe v wade and make it permissible to make abortion illegal, but from their enlightened thrones to declare we must have compassion and allow abortions in the case of rape and incest etc. Alabama will get a slap on the wrist and the naughty …

I had two disastrous marriages to two different abusive women and had a child with each. I won primary custody in both cases and my lawyer wasn't any more expensive than others. If anything she was a little cheaper as she had a junior lawyer do most of the paperwork side which is very time consuming. The key was my lawyer spent many years as a criminal defense attorney before switching to family law. She told me most family law lawyers are only any good at throwing accusations in court so then i…

You still pay FICA taxes on that money though. Those taxes come out before deductions.

I'm a full time single dad of a 4 yo daughter. When she needs the bathroom in a public space, what do you expect me to do? I always carry her positioned so she's facing away from urinals and talk to her to keep her engaged and not curiously looking around. But seriously, it's just a penis. If my 4 yo kid accidentally sees a glimpse of your penis, if I'm doing my job right it isn't going to be upsetting or scarring to her and won't be significant enough to even warrant a comment.

I'm currently in the middle of a divorce where my ex attempted that. She has two kids from prior relationships whose fathers have very little involvement in their lives so she can do what she likes with them. I live in Washington state and she moved her two other kids to Florida 2 weeks before the initial court date for them to start school there and filed a motion to relocate our (then) 2 y.o. child to Florida. Her motion had multiple mistakes making it invalid so my lawyer had the motion stric…

When my ex-wife physically attacked me and I finally had the good sense to call the police on that occasion, the police arrested her. In Washington state, there's a law which says if there's a physical injury (she drew blood on my arms and legs when she dug chunks of flesh out of them with her nails) that they are required to arrest the offender. From all the horror stories I've heard, I am so glad I live in a state with some gender neutral sensible laws.

I still see a benefit. It furthers the narrative that a father is as much a parent of a child as the mother is. It's a small subtle change in the perception of a mans role towards a child, as an equal care giver.

Did you read the article? This only applies to federal buildings. Now you know that this doesn't apply to private businesses, do you have any other reasons why this might be voted against?

I would love to know the justification of the 34 republicans who voted against this bill.

Not in my state (WA). In fact, if both parties agreed, the state doesn't need to get involved touching the money, and only get involved if there's a dispute about whether it's getting paid or not.

You might find this site interesting. He has cataloged a list of some really bad lawyers and judges in Washington along with citations of why. The site owner uses some inflammatory language in places which sometimes undermines his point, but he does have real substance to his claims. My ex-wife's lawyer is listed on the section about worst lawyers, lawyers who hate men. Which I can tell you from first hand experience is true. He charges for his full information about how to win custody without a…

Wow! I live in WA, had similar things happen but not as bad and had similar attacks against me in court and my lawyer tore her case apart in court. I was accused of some stuff that churns my stomach to this day to even think about. I had a parenting evaluator recommend my daughter live with her mom. My lawyer showed the parenting evaluator to be biased and that she misrepresented the facts in her report from her own records. I won full custody of my daughter. From all the research I did at the t…

When a similar thing happened to me, I made a simple facebook post stating I was going offline from social media for a couple of weeks so people knew I wouldn't be on there. Then I complete logged out of social media sites for the two weeks. It wasn't worth the risk of being accused of contacting her indirectly.

This sounds very similar to what happened to me, although I wasn't forced out the house. She left with our daughter to stay with her friend to "cool down" as apparently not accepting 100% of the blame for our problems wasn't acceptable and she needed to escalate. That was her pattern, escalate until I twisted logic and reason sufficiently to find a way to accept that it was all my fault and I would make a commitment to change to get her back. Apparently she sensed that I wasn't going to accept b…

I can't recommend enough your fourth point about not to skimp on an attorney. I got really really lucky and managed to stumble upon one of the best attorneys there are in my state (WA) and was actually able to be awarded custody of our daughter. This was with a parenting evaluation giving strong recommendations to award custody to her mom. I cannot express how grateful I am to my attorney, she was caring and fair and knew exactly what things were important to get the right outcome.

This was in Seattle in the US. And this wasn't just issues around the divorce and how she treated just me, it was a pattern of behavior of my ex doing specific things to prevent me from seeing my daughter. She would also do things to me such as not letting me take spare furniture from the house when I set myself up in an apartment. This would mean when my daughter was with me, she wouldn't have a table to eat at. She would rather have a craft table than allow us a table to eat at. There were a b…

If you do go to court, by brutally honest about everything. Don't try to down play or exaggerate any experiences, but be 100% truthful. When I was in court against my ex-wife, she would make outlandish statements about me and deny any wrong doing. I admitted the things that I had done (very little and mild, but nobody is perfect) and firmly denied the things I hadn't done. My ex-wife's insistence of being 100% the innocent party and not admitting to anything, including the stuff I had some evide…

I'm just at the tail end of my divorce. Physically and emotionally abusive ex wife who is quite the liar, as are her friends who testified on her behalf. According to my lawyer, the way to get doctor'ed emails thrown out is to produce your own copy of the emails showing something different. Thankfully I won, and will very soon have full custody of my daughter. I would say I won because of 3 things: * An amazing lawyer * Taking the moral high road through the whole ordeal, even when my ex was doi…
