Thank you for your input, I appreciate it. You've given me a lot to think on.

Thank you for the thoughtful response. I think you are spot on, and your advice about keeping RP ideas as a last resort fits me better. Your advice about having an end game as well is something I hadn't considered, but makes complete sense. The last thing I want is to spend the rest of my life feeling angry and displeased and like I am forever trying to "change" my SO's behaviour.

OP here. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I live in a different time zone, outside of the US. We are not married. We are both 23. We do not have kids. We have been together 2 years. OP here; the alternate account under which I posted was banned. Thank you for your thoughtful response, it is much appreciated. OP here - the account under which I originally posted was banned. I want to thank you for taking the time to respond. I'm actually relieved that the first reply I read wasn't someone lambasting me for bad behaviour. I think the trigger for this perspective shift was something that crept up on us. In the beginning of our relationship he was somewhat emotionally detached and in control of himself at all times. I was definitely the one chasing him and trying to please him. I can't say I really enjo…

OP here. I'm not a troll. The account I posted under is one of my alternate accounts. (Also if you re-read the post I made 6 months ago you'll notice the person in question & I didn't meet on the internet - we met because we work in the same building.) The funny thing is I have been very much against RP philosophy since I learned of it some months ago. In the past few days though, I feel like my worldview has been shaken. I am having trouble reconciling my feeling. I am not surprised at being ca…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
