If you are VERY handsome or have LOADS of money (or are very funny), then you don't necessarily need the other ones.

It sounds like in context he was referring to her attitude and opinions, not her appearance. Seems like an important difference which is being glossed over by most commentators.

IIRC he doesn't explicitly justify his actions, but it does help to understand why he thought them necessary.

That would be Ted Kaczynski's "Industrial Society and its Future". Not a difficult read, and very interesting.

You should read "The Life of Saint Teresa of Avila by Herself". Meditation can be Christian.

The power of now is actually a great intro. It doesn't overload you with jargon or technicalities, it just points out the simple truth.

I wouldn't be seen dead in any of that junk. I recognise that the style of dress OP describes is more popular/acceptable than my own, but that doesn't mean it's the only way. Some parts of the rest of the post were good though.

Agreed. If you can do 80+ pushups then IMO you should really be doing single hand pushups instead.

Take two apples. Take another two apples. Verify that you now have four apples...?

Can you link to any further information on this failed male birth control compount, I'm curious. As a male, I would be interested in being able to turn my sex drive off at will.

You could survive without eating for two or three days or longer It's far far longer than that. Severely obese people can safely fast for over a year, just talking water and multivitamins.

He's libertarian in the "don't tell me what to do" sense, but fairly far left in the "tax me and do useful shit with the money" sense.

Of course not! When a woman does it we call it self defence. If a man did it it would definitely be assault though. I'm being slightly sarcastic but my point is that it doesn't matter if you defend yourself with your fists or a pepper spray. Either way you are going to have a hard time convincing anyone you were in the right.

That's still assault... It's best to just get out of the situation to be honest. Literally run away if need be.

You're not 80/20ing right... By eating 80% paleo you're doing 80% effort! I guess 20% effort in this example would be to replace the unhealthiest 20% of your previous diet with healthy paleo food.

www.itailor.com Great for shirts. Not a shill, they're honestly great. Not tried any of their other products though.

Do what works man. I'd certainly take the extra 2-3 hours a day if I could, gains be damned. 'Get more sleep' is gread advice for many people but don't let it break your successful routine!

A boring suggestion: study. Don't study too much, but make sure you're studying enough. Source: I didn't study enough.

Good post. Have you tried a ketogenic diet? It has a very strong stabilising effect on blood sugar and is very beneficial for many neurological complaints. People also use it to lose weight though that part is far from mandatory: I am bulking on keto. See sidebar /r/keto

The age restriction is stupid, they should have removed the non 18-40 year-olds from the total candidate list, not the eligible candidate list. You don't look at kids and old people, then say "I'd date them if only they were 18-40". They just don't enter into consideration.

So say it to a hippie, with a smirk on your face. Pretty decent teasing opening line, a la "Could you be any more hippie?"

I like video games, but frankly eSports is an oxymoron. I see what they were getting at... but 'sport' isn't quite the right word.

Sorry I worded it poorly. I didn't mean to say that the market has changed, I have no idea; I meant that in a time before condoms things were very different.

No.. it's taboo because until very recently (condoms preventing STI spread) it meant a fistful of STIs which you would then bring home to share with your wife and whoever else. This plus the fact that it facilitates cheating in a marriage, and society until fairly recently was dominated by religious morals. 'Morals' take a long time to change because they feel like they should be absolute (as indeed some are, like 'do not murder'), so even considering an alternative feels wrong.

It's not something special about whiteness though, in this case it's the fact that a white guy seems exotic and exciting. Plus they taller than average, plus they're likely to be wealthy (if they can afford to live abroad, or their talents are unique enough that their employment needs them to move..)

I don't think being white helps that much on its own, if at all. I think it's just that tall rich guys tend to also be white.

That's not even what /u/moodymela meant. They meant that if you on your own can't just entertain yourself then you are lacking in creativity. Your point is separate but still good: a person who has internet access but "can't" entertain themselves is clearly not even trying. They want somebody else to just provide entertainment at no cost to them. This is laziness which can be overcome fairly easily, whereas the former lack of creativity is more of a long-term problem.

I think of your theories, the first two are the most true, plus an element of 'not understanding make up' as well. What I would say as regards 'You don't look well!' in response to following the au naturel advice is that going from 'normal' make up to none is a sudden, stark change. Though you make up may have been obvious before, it has nonetheless formed an impression in the minds of others as to what 'you' look like. When you overnight go from flushed cheeks and full lips to something less ex…
