In the real world, I’ve noticed couples are pretty equally matched in terms of education and income. People date within their peer groups. As an example my guy friend is a high earning engineer and usually dates other high earning professional women such as lawyers. They ‘speak his language’ and connect with him better on an intellectual level.

Make female friends.

I also think maybe an air of resentment toward women can add a ‘wall’ between these men genuinely connecting with women. They can project negative views that they got from this sphere onto women which further distances them and prevents relationships.

Also would add. Firm boundaries. ‘I will not accept any rude comments about my body. They make me feel insecure and don’t feel productive. If you say this again, I am leaving the conversation’. I’m really sorry you’re going through that and it seems like negging. Such a manipulative mindfuck when it’s paired with affection. If he can’t respect your boundaries, you may have a tough decision to make. Sending you love

Hopefully not sounding too flippant here but. Have you had the conversation of ‘I feel unsafe when you get defensive’ or ‘I noticed your mindset has changed since x’ or just straight up ‘I am concerned for your mental health recently and I love you’? As kindly and softly as possible. So you can walk away, if it needs to happen, with a clear conscience knowing you did everything in your sphere of control to help him and your relationship.

This is beautiful and something that took me years to learn after dating a narcissistic RP guy. You are lucky to have learned everything so young

I as a woman in her 20s dated a wealthy older man in his 40s. He rejected me because of our age gap. We had nothing in common, it was like we spoke different languages. I realized TRP paints everyone with the same brushstroke and you can’t just apply universal truths to people (e.g. older men desire much younger women). RP oversimplifies things that are incredibly nuanced things like human attraction.

I think that’s a sign you have excellent self esteem. Kudos, you dodged a bullet

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
