Losing friends and support for supporting men's rights... despite being a man.Got'cha. So, the effects of the hormones your body produced as a male just weren't correct to your mentality. I think I can make sense of that. I'm kind of seeing it like I see Blaire White. When I listen to her, I very much so still hear a males thought processes, yet she's very much so, comfortably, a woman. It's hard to think about the hormonal factor when they're usually, mostly in order for me. The thought process is the biggest difference I see in men and women, but I forget the biology is… | /r/MensRights | 19/12/16 12:16 AM
Losing friends and support for supporting men's rights... despite being a man.Interesting. Genuinely curious, how did you know were trans if you didn't have dysphoria? This might come off a bit mean, but without the dysphoria it sounds as if you just woke up one day and decided, "I feel like changing my sex." I just don't understand. I see some perks to being a woman, but... I feel kind of attached to my dick and balls. I couldn't imagine doing away with them unless I didn't. So, to reword the question, how was it you came to the conclusion of being trans if you were comf… | /r/MensRights | 18/12/16 11:40 PM
Losing friends and support for supporting men's rights... despite being a man. Why? I get how it seems bad from a normal functioning brains perspective, but for someone with a dysfunctional brain, they don't know anything else. That's just their brain. Why would someone view their own brain, dtysfunctioning or not, as a bad thing? It's not like one can trade it in. | /r/MensRights | 18/12/16 10:58 PM
Losing friends and support for supporting men's rights... despite being a man.I appreciate your perspective. It seems, from that perspective, I've got too much stock invested into the ideas of femininity and masculinity. From my angle, I do identify with my masculinity very much. I'm not even a very masculine guy (don't like sports. Not very competitive. I'm straight, but I don't feel the need to closely observe every hot chick that crosses my periphery like many of my friends do. Etc) I grew up the only boy in my household with three sisters, and just always understood t… | /r/MensRights | 18/12/16 10:55 PM
Losing friends and support for supporting men's rights... despite being a man. That's my larger point in a nutshell. Some people do use it like an insult, but it shouldn't be understood that way. | /r/MensRights | 18/12/16 07:50 PM
Losing friends and support for supporting men's rights... despite being a man. That wasn't directed at you, and I do apologize if it came off that way. I said that as a general statement directed at, as the person below stated, a straw man. I know you're not a victim who believes in patriarchy. You're here, after all 😀. I apologize if the statement came off like it was directed at you. | /r/MensRights | 18/12/16 07:49 PM
Losing friends and support for supporting men's rights... despite being a man.Starting off, I agree translation is the best solution, but I think "only" is a bit strong. What if a trans person -wants- to try anti-psychotics or conversion therapy? It seems to me easier than going full post op, and the natural state is to take the path of least resistance. I sympathize with you, as I understand being trans ain't easy, but I sympathize with those who don't accept it as well because simply accepting it isn't easy either. You're in a vast minority, sadly. Sympathy is harder to… | /r/MensRights | 18/12/16 09:47 AM
Losing friends and support for supporting men's rights... despite being a man. What's the difference? Is it possible to be trans without dysphoria? My understanding is that the two are practically synonymous. I don't understand how one could go through the relatively extreme process without dysphoria. It seems obvious to me that being born with a dick and balls I'm a man. It seems obvious to me that had I been born with a vagina and ovaries I'd be a woman. It seems obvious to me that if either of those roles had been revered my brain wasn't functioning as it should, so it … | /r/MensRights | 18/12/16 09:25 AM
Losing friends and support for supporting men's rights... despite being a man.Thank you. Even that, though, is technically true. Trans people have dysfunctional brains, and that's obvious. The point is that's not necessarily 'wrong'. I'm nitpicking at this point, but I'd say when you see someone doing that, just go with it. It is dysfunctional, but let's help those people either have their brains get right with their bodies or vice versa. For example, I've seen the natgeo cover of an 8 year old 'trans girl' (boy that wants to be a girl) pop up as a point of outrage on som… | /r/MensRights | 18/12/16 08:46 AM
Losing friends and support for supporting men's rights... despite being a man.I'm want to interject on the particular point of calling transgenderism a "mental illness". Not to be an ass, but what is the problem with referring to it as a mental illness? It seems obvious that gender dimorphism isn't supposed to be a function of the brain, and that one is supposed to identify with the sex they were born into, yet some people don't. I wouldn't call it a physical disability, since it's in the brain, and I don't know a good alternative to mental illness beyond "mental disabili… | /r/MensRights | 18/12/16 05:41 AM
