http://www.essex.ac.uk/psychology/department/people/Roberson_files/ProgressInColour.pdf Basically what that paper (and others that have studied the Himba people) states is that the Himba people are much better at distinguishing certain shades of colors. In this color wheel http://boingboing.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/ring1.jpg the Himba people easily pointed out the different shade of green whereas it took others a long time to do it, if they could.

Nah, it's all good. Seriously. Do the FR please. Whatever you do, don't be silent as your mutual friend brings up topics and talks. Seize this opportunity to take command of the conversation. You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain by doing this, but if you're silent the whole time you will have lost everything. I used to be like that before so I can relate pretty well.

Bring up a generic topic that you know things about and you suspect she does as well. As she relates a story about said topic, ask her questions that lead to her talking more. Interject at inspired moments where you have something to say. Girls love talking - give her a reason to do so. As you open up to her, you'll find it easier and easier to talk more.
