That sounds like a grand idea. To add to this and make a minor distinction, we should teach everyone what consent is and is not. Teach that just because a woman doesn't fight back doesn't mean she consents and having an erection doesn't mean he consents. Most people do not want to think of themselves as a rapist, but consent isn't always as simple and clear cut as to rape or not to rape.

She just as equally implied that testosterone makes all men violent which is a notably false fact. No, she stated that men have the tendency to be more violent than women. That in no way implies that all men are violent. And I would take issue with anyone who says that all men are violent. Testosterone, in both men and women, can make a person more aggressive. Men naturally have higher levels of testosterone, thus higher propensity for aggression. Aggression has a higher likelihood of leading to…

Yes, that would be sexist. Because unlike the person to whom you responded, you imply that all women are emotionally unstable because of their estrogen. And the use of the word unstable is very much at odds with "tendency of men to be more violent." It might be more accurate to state that women have a tendency to be more emotionally variable. But estrogen doesn't work against us in that regard seeing as it helps form serotonin and protects from irritability and anxiety, thus keeping one's mood …

Comment in this thread: "Being a feminist you are contributing to the collapse of our society. You truly disgust everyone here" Synonyms for hatred: intense dislike, disgust

I stated this elsewhere, but: This phenomenon is what I like to call "outrage culture," where a certain percentage of the population seems to enjoy being outraged at this group or that, some event, what have you. So they rage. And it feeds this type of person's sense of moral superiority. But it doesn't really serve any real purpose other than that. No minds are really changed. In fact potential allies might be alienated. This applies to anything: MRAs, Feminists, Race Relations, Political Affil…

If this sign is implying that it's for a mom which recently gave birth to a child, then no, this sign is dumb. Women who have recently given birth can be fairly physically wrecked (vaginal tearing, episiotomies, c-sections, etc.). At times, even more than when they were pregnant. So this makes sense in that sort of context, especially if it is the sort of location where a new mom might regularly need items, like a pharmacy (which is what I assume the pictured building is), hospital, or the like.

It's a personal view. I think it's mostly just to allow someone to express a topic that they've been contemplating. It's something to either sympathize with or begin a conversation a la comments. Note the byline title: Assistant Comment Editor. This type of article may not appeal to you but obviously it appeals to others.

How are they feminists? For all you know this reaction could be based on race, humor, etc. There's no evidence to suggest that the people who liked the video or are lauding her as a hero (if that is indeed what they are doing; I could see someone saying "Hero" in a sarcastic sense as well) are motivated by gender/sex. As far as the Lorena Bobbit case, I just don't know. That was 20 years ago. I would think and hope that feminists don't cheer for violence against men in and of itself. I think the…

Perhaps my powers of cognition are questionable because I have been trying to understand how and where you see this praise from feminists. I truly don't know about/understand tumblr, but all I saw on the three that I could find were a bunch of people liking it and ONE person commenting "Hero". So unless you imply that anyone who doesn't get angry about this antagonistic woman assaulting this arrogant man must be a feminist then I don't understand. Please clarify.

No. I identify as a feminist and think she was way out of line. Dude was a little bit of an arrogant ass, but she escalated a minor bit of rudeness to be shrugged off into an unprovoked assault. I feel like there is a whole culture where this is the "proper" response, where members of this culture, men and women, feel they have to push back at anyone who "disrespects" them either with verbal or physical assaults. Perhaps it has to do with prison culture leaking into poverty culture. This is not …

"Why should men take the risk?" The upside is you live your life how you choose and not allow potential risk to your person to determine who you are. You can absolutely choose to turn away from those who you feel need comfort or aid, male or female, if you choose to or you can choose to be compassionate despite the risks. But when everyone chooses to turn from the risk of compassion then no one should expect it in return. And I just don't know about your claim that "Society, in general, neither …

Don't feel bad. For all we know she could have been a nice lady or a jerk. You can't help the past, just remember for the future. :D

As a morbidly obese woman sometimes it can be just as awkward when someone offers to help you up. I know that they don't know what they are doing, and sometimes people have strange reactions if you refuse their help (so perhaps the fat woman was also trapped by the kind act [say if small Asian woman were insistent]). Awkwardness and embarrassment as well as injury could come into play. And, who knows, small Asian woman may be a boss, just not that much of a boss. The idea that some jerk could be…

Just a clarification, are you denouncing the video or the response of your friend? Both? As for "the video claimed that this was the epitome of sexism" could you point out the specifics of this claim. From what I see, this video claims that these stories are proof that sexism exists. Truly, they focus on women's experiences, though I don't feel like that's inherently problematic. To see a male centered video would be interesting and informative as well. I'm sorry that your friend was dismissive.…

I imagine that it's more the fact that it's coupled with unwanted leg stroking that makes this sexual harassment.
