Your comment here is worrying me, the more I think about it...how easily you saw men as the equivalent to black Americans, and women to the cops....as if women were the ones out here violently oppressing men...as if you are blind to the day-to-day violence we've just become accustomed to at the hands of men. Every woman I know carries genuine horror stories about their encounters with men...physical, emotional, sexual abuse, beginning in childhood. And somehow, you don't see that as the equivale…

So, you seem pretty confused, but that's okay because we can use your metaphor to help make sense of the situation. It is actually pretty useful. So, in your example, we have a group of people who have historically been violently oppressed by another, more powerful group. I agree, I would never lecture black Americans on how THEY needed to set aside their personal and collective trauma, and work on not being so distrusting of law enforcement, because "omg there are some good cops, guys!!". Ins…

So what is the solution? Women have very real reasons to tread cautiously and be suspicious in this life....we have seen enough to know we have to be on alert. I don't think women should be asked to throw their life experience out the window and approach every unknown man with total openness. Maybe if good men are tired of being seen as predators, they need to focus on shifting the toxicity within their gender community so that women can let their guards down.

The notion that men are born into the world inherently defective and need to be "fixed" is really devastating to me. The idea that parents have already given up on their child's ability to care for their own body, when they're just infants, is really sad. And of course, making a permanent choice for your child rooted in your own sexual aesthetic preferences is just plain batty. But I appreciate your perspective because I think that's the one most men I've met hold. Just, "who cares?" I can't pre…

How is it simultaneously your choice and something done to you?

Yeah, exactly. I know so many new mothers who fell on the anti-snip side, while their partners want a son with a penis that looks like theirs.

The women in my life are very vocal about being anti-circumcision. I have went on many a rant against infant genital mutilation in rooms crowded with men and been met by bored disinterest by men and vehement agreement by women. My little sister is out here leading talks and rallies on her college campus. Guess who shows up? Women! Until your average man identifies that he is a victim and gets ANGRY, yeah, y'all aren't going to see the whole system change. It is very confusing to me!!

Yall have to generate the body posi movement yourselves...it isn't just going to be handed to you...just like women had to. I never, ever hear men in my life talking about it. Rarely see men talking about it online. Band together, make some ruckus, see some change! Yall deserve it

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
