It depends on the book, pretty much the same as watching television or a movie. You won't see me contesting that reading Twilight is better for someone than watching a Christopher Nolan film or a documentary. If you're comparing reading Twilight to watching something like Two Broke Girls or reading a book on a topic vs a documentary, you're likely going to have more demanded of you from the book than you are from the television. Read books, lift weights, go out to do things with friends, or any other of a myriad of hobbies that involve doing something as opposed to passively consuming something.
