It is because it can be used as an argument for every law. Its redundant then. Point is there are more complex fruits and plants than early stage fetus so its silly that the moment of inception before it even splits into 2 cells is a life. There's no logical argument for that. The only argument would probably be on religious grounds which is fair enough. I understand the religious lobby is still quite big in usa especially southern states.

I dont mind hearing your opinion at all. I just don't think you can call a fertilised egg a person. Most civilised nations law accept this too. Slavery point you make is irrelevant, as its completely different subject matter. Some countries do take it too far, for example where I'm from you can have an abortion at 24 weeks which is far too late. France have it about right I'd say.

Not really though. Every sperm carries the genetic material to be able to establish life if fertilised. Thats the point i was making. Science has already established a sensible cut off point for abortion. So you think 2 cells in a fertilised egg have all the rights of a citizen but a sperm doesn't? At that level its just really silly and people being hysterical (and probably religious) . Use a bit off common sense and nuance

Yes thats exactly what I'm saying. Which is also what happens to be written in law in most developed nations. Up to a certain point you cannot really call it a person, ie a fertilised egg isn't magically a person.

Up to a certain point I'm for abortion. I mean the early stages of pregnancy its nothing more than a fertilised egg doubling in cell size. Its only the potential for life. If your gonna legislate against the potential for life then they'll have to ban masturbation too.
