This why in the past, we wouldn’t let unmarried women leave the house without a male chaperone. If any undesired suitors talked to them, the man could tell them off and most would get the hint. Feminism has told women they don’t need no man, but women are conflict shy and generally not very good at saying no, so most men just think they need to try harder. Well, don't take that as an absolute. Most discussions of philosophical concepts are oversimplified, in order to make the concepts more clear, but in reality, you cannot expect any human being to perfectly embody an abstract concept. In practice, most people are a mixture of both, but on average, men tend to embody the active principle (or at least have an easier time doing so) preferring to lead rather than to follow, and women embody the re-active, preferring to follow rather than to lead.

Well, sure, but from a philosophical point of view, the male principle is acting, while the female principle is reacting, so it makes sense for a men to do a lot more acting, and for women to do more reacting.
