I been arguing against the death penalty since I was a student. And you are of course right racial bias in the US justice and law enforcement system is both chronic and (to an outsider) screamingly obvious. Ending the death penalty is important because no civilised society kills its own citizens. It isn't cheaper than life in prison. Every execution in California cost $308 million.
