Except for not seeing the kids enough, every single part of my life is better. And even with the kids, the alternative would have been for the kids to see me continue to live in a very dysfunctional relationship, so I believe in the long term that would have been worse for them too.

Then I'm going to say normal. It'll easily take a couple of years for those feelings to subside. Not a heck of a lot you can do to accelerate the process I think - just time.
