Fair enough

I’m not sure if being on work study qualifies me as a “direct employee.” Regardless, I don’t plan on ever flirting with anyone while in the workplace, so I’m not worried about Title IX. This post was about connecting with girls that flirted with me during the session after the session.

Obviously lol. But flirting back at them doesn’t even jeopardize my income. The problem is that exchanging contact info is prohibited so as to avoid tutoring outside the session.

You know I’m a student too right?

Yeah my view on all of this is pretty much the same as yours. But I would only risk losing my job if we trade contact info during the session.

My main issue is doing it discretely. Any tips on that?

I’m gonna be 20 this year and 90% of the students that come in are at least 18.

I know. That’s not something I ever believed in lmao you don’t have to tell me.

It was solely so students could reach out to me if they had more questions.

They’re drop-ins in addition to appointments scheduled by some in advance. But you think adding a drop-in after the semester is fine? Even if the appointment was like, two weeks ago?

Nah, I don’t think any students would report tutors for adding them on ig. If they did, it would lead to a slap on the wrist at most. Exchanging contact info with students is only prohibited because our manager doesn’t want us tutoring them after the session. But the professors who eavesdrop don’t understand the different social cues.

I used to (for academic reasons, nothing more) but my manager literally banned us from doing that. Like I said, there are professors at the center who report us for that.

Yeah this sounds like the best course of action. Makes sense that it’s coming from a fellow tutor! Thanks!

Okay, I’m glad my instincts were right. The whole reason I asked this was because a couple of people told me it’s fine.

Because that’s obvious flirting and it feels quite awkward doing that within direct earshot of my coworkers. Some of my coworkers are professors and they already ratted on us for giving our emails to tutees for academic reasons. If you’re going to downvote, you should explain why. If I ask a tutee for her number and a professor hears me, I could lose my job.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
