I don't think we do. As men represent the huge majority of victims it tells us very little to group them as "male victims" – it's just not effective, nor representative of any specific type of violence, it serves no purpose. Murdered women usually fall under some specific type of crimes, so it makes sense to group those so we can understand better what is going on. When we talk about police violence, war on drugs, urban violence victims and other types of violence, we are mostly talking about ma…

- Good looking. The basic of it – healthy body, well groomed, not deformed. - Taller than me. I am tall, I always hated how unfeminine it made me feel so I wanted someone taller so I wouldn't be insecure due to that. - Broad characteristics similar to me. I grow up in a place I was viewed as exotic, and I hated it. I wanted someone who looked a bit like me so I wouldn't feel I was being fetishized for certain traits. I also wanted kids who look like me. - Less boring than a normie look, more bor…

I am sorry if I sounded super tone-deaf complaining of some sort of oppression for being pretty! I understand what you mean, and I agree. I don't care about it because it was something I took for granted all of my life – it gave me a lot of room to develop my self-worth based in other aspects of my personality because I had that already covered. On other hand, I know some girls tend to get addicted to this sort of validation and even if they were always pretty, they will keep struggling but I so…

Definitely not, the issue for me is that I always got more attention than I wished for... so being desired a lot of time made me more unhappy than happy. I am not even that hot, but I am somewhat exotic for my country and they value my looks. I am happy to be in a good relationship, I like to know that my boyfriend desires me and that he values me a lot, it is good but I spent years of my life without it and I was still content with myself and fulfilled, and I never got why people cared so much …

It's hard to pick. I think guys get way less sympathy for their failures/flaws, it's easier for a woman to pass some shitty traits as a "quirky" personality than it is for men, there is usually less pressure for us to succeed, we can express our feelings more openly, there is less accountability for woman.

As a woman who also grow up being considered awkward and weird, I couldn't agree more. I see an overlapping pattern between my bullies and the most vocal girl power women I know, my impression is they use the same tactics but now under disguise of a "noble" and socially acceptable reason, which make them even more untouchable. I know a few who will even assume they were bullies and frame it as "I had to be a bully in order to not be bullied" – well, nothing new in feminists putting their own pri…

My boyfriend is a non-talkative but passionate man, it wasn't easy to get used with the silence but I learned to not only to accept but to enjoy it. I don't think I could do the same with a lack of passion/emotional display.

I didn't dated or hookup in high school, and I only dated in my last years in college although it was my early twenties, I'm not sure if I qualify as a late boomer but I usually think I do. I think there is good and bad in that. I didn't had experience, but I also didn't had baggage or scars from past relationships. I also was quite an independent person myself and had a lot of self-knowledge, I lacked experience but I learned fast. I see a lot of people who dated a lot during high school and ge…

This is such a good point of something I've been thinking a lot lately. A lot of oppression woman claims nowadays are things that no one is forced to do. The pink tax, beauty standards, traditional gender professions... there is no enforcement for you to follow up. But as everything, you have to face consequences if you are making your own choices, and this seem to be an issue nobody wants to deal – so let's just blame "society".

whatever allow a good work/life balance and don't become someone's personality.

It's hard to explain, but it's like he felt like he shaped my sexual preferences and thinks this isn't fair because I should have other influences too. It's not something I agree, and I think we got over it already but it used to show up specially when we were to explore fetishes and such.

My boyfriend was my first in everything, while he had a quite active romantic/sexual life before me (I am a late bloomer, but he is also 8 years older than me). We are together for 5 years right now, we were supposed to get married this year but covid delayed our plans. This never was an issue for me, but sometimes he felt a bit guilty over this. We have different views on casual sex, but it's no big deal as it streams solely on personal preferences and not some dogmatic view.

I do, but I'm very light on weightlifting. I swim, cycle and I used to play volleyball. I am not very motivated by looks in this regard, but this is something I've done since my childhood and it make me feel great. I have the same impression from you, and I would go a little beyond it. It seems men are really being pushed to exercise, while woman are being stimulated to care about it less and less with those recent body positive movements. Although I am not sure if this attitude towards weightli…

I'm pretty but a little chubby (upper end of healthy bmi, lower end overweight, I was never obese) and it was only recently I noticed people being flirty with me (I'm 25) although I end up knowing a few guys were in love with me during school, I'm not the most social person to understand this kind of attention and it wasn't something I was/am super interested in (I have a long term relationship with my first boyfriend whom I met when I was 20). But I always had the feeling people are very good t…

also people forget stuff like excess skin when you lose weight. if someone with grossly obese body loose weight she may look hot in clothes, but won't naked unless she undergo several surgeries.

I don't like this concept. I think most of this is just poor communication, and this comic is rather simplistic. Everyone experience this sort of 'mental load', this can lead a lot of frustration while dealing with others because people don't really read minds nor have the same set of priorities... the whole thing of having a relationship is learning to adjust expectations and communicating, this type of discourse seems to naturalize this hardships as a gendered thing and don't really contribute…

I was born beautiful. Joking, but your routine sounds exhausting, kudos to you. I feel very weird when I read this sort of work in keeping ones appearance because this is all quite alien for me, and I was always considered pretty. Maybe that's why I never developed such habits? Like, I brush my teeth 3x a day, I shower everyday, I use shampoo... but that's it. I want to use sunscreen but I always forget. I shave sometimes. I also trim my nails. I cut my own hair (and I have no idea what I'm doin…
