I'm not sure I'm a misogynist (yet). But I have stopped making an extra effort to open doors, be the last to exit the elevator, etc. I just assume I am the only person around, like most women do when I am near.

Morrissey's public image centers around him being isolated emotionally and physically from either gender. He is fiercely independent of thought, speaks his mind and WILL NOT compromise himself for anyone. An English judge once described him as "devious, truculent, and unreliable". In this song, like many others he has written/sung, Morrissey fires a lyrical warning shot over the wedding chapel to warn men what lay ahead and warn women what they may become. To me it is a song that tells BOTH sexe…

It's everything you would expect from him... in long-form!

By all accounts Morrisey is not a fan of male/female relations

This song could be intended for women or men, by the way. Perhaps not all women want a future of "lazing and grazing all day"?

I think the key here is that he sussed out the game a LONG time ago.

Had you read his recent biography you would know otherwise.

I just want to add that the beauty of Morrissey is that he writes on three levels. Literally, ironically and comically. Take your pick. One is very red pill in my view.

Show me ONE Blue Pill lyric not delivered with irony and I will eat my hat.

I bet I know more than you. And I thought TRP was pro happiness, not anti-woman.

TRP has helped me understand why I married the type of woman that I did. After 4 nutters, I was seeking and found a wife who was not "psycho" (my term). Well, I found one. But I have noticed that I default into beta mode and my relationship suffers (lack of intimacy, general malaise). When I get out of that mode things improve. In the past I thought I was just being an asshole to get my way, but TRP seems to explain that it's not assholery...its establishing boundaries and expectations.

Your last sentence sort of sums it up for me.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
