Or, The Doors.

Sorry, you're right. I fucked up. I reread your initial post and got lost in the sauce of the replies and your interactions with others but I see now that you're not complaining about your lot in life or lamenting a lack of confidence, just asking why it's important (or what it is?) Either way, if they aren't attracted and they don't approach then move on. Not sure how "approach women" is harmful advice? Feels like the replies could help others in the thread though, if for nothing else than know…

Your mindset is terrible and is 100% the thing affecting your dating. People are trying to help you in this sub, read the replies with openness and curiosity. That is the path towards growth.

Could you reread the above set of responses and exchange her for him, as if you were a woman responding? "Why should I have to approach him? All it does is boost his ego. He should come to me. " It sounds like you are projecting. All of your feelings towards women in this scenario are mirrored from your side. Approaching a woman isn't harassment. If you do it respectfully, and they decline, then that's all it needs to be. It sounds like - especially with your repeated mentions of a woman's ego -…

I did some dating over the past couple years and I did alright. I found that, for the most part, if you have manners and can listen and hold a conversation with a woman, you are probably 70% of the way there. It really isn't that complicated.

Agree; my take on the context of the bar: I only hear the term "the bar is in hell" as a comment after a woman has had a negative experience with a man. Like, the man wasn't genuine and respectful and left the woman with a poor experience. I know it's not an absolute term and think it's more used as hyperbole. One (several) example/s: the men that assume she wants to be choked as they're making out after a first date, without consent. If she's making out with you then presumably she's sexually a…

I understand your argument. I have made counterpoints above. I could do it again but we're going in a loop.

Good job - that was the more immediate error. If you read back further, and tell me if I've misunderstood, but you will see that I'm not interested in learning about supernormal stimuli, as per your (chatgpt's) suggestion, not because I'm not interested in learning but because I don't need to learn it. I'm also inferring that you think chatgpt knows you so well and is used to your idioms, as it knows that you talk about the lizard brain. If you go back to the start, I'm the one that mentioned th…

I have nothing more than my word - I haven't used chatgpt. Perhaps I should take it as a compliment you think I have. How old are you? I would guess you're still in your 20s? If my thinking doesn't seem grounded maybe that's because I'm trying to explain a viewpoint with nuance which has been learnt through experience. I'm also reacting to your talking points, which helps inform and adjust how I try to explain things. I haven't conflated tool use with laziness, I conflated you saying you're "too…

I haven't used chatgpt. Maybe that's why my discussion hasn't flowed perfectly because I'm doing it myself without any help. Very indicative of the conversation though, instead of putting in effort (today's man,) you rely on an external technology to supplement your efforts because you were "too lazy" to blah blah blah. At a certain point, we have to collectively decide to pivot away from technological assistance (ie dating apps.) I think it's slowly shifting, especially with the discussion arou…

Oh ok that makes more sense then. I guess I've been trying to explain my side of the discussion and why it feels like there's a disconnect but I see now it's because you've added a layer of abstraction. I'm not interested in finding out about supernormal stimuli because I've been agreeing with you - the earlier reference I made to our lizard brains relates to that as I already know what it is. Nice chatting with you even if it was somewhat disingenuous/harder than it had to be.

You're right, we aren't arguing the same thing. But I only said we are arguing a similar thing: that social media has destroyed organic relationships and the gamification of dating apps is smarter than our hormones/dopamine. Where we differ is probably in addressing the next step of the conversation. We can agree the system is broken and that it's not in men's favour. What's the next step? Rage against the system and wallow in the pity of what's presented? Or step away from the system? What's th…

Oh yeah that's my bad, I misquoted but I knew you meant stopped. The truth will always be somewhere in the middle right? You say I'm painting with a broad brush but I was trying to illustrate the potential for the other side of the story. A similar thing could be said about the notion that "a woman can access thousands of men... while men compete..." I know the numbers game is in favour of the women but that's not to say women don't compete as well. To be fair we are probably arguing a similar t…

I mostly would agree with your sentiment but I would argue the start of your second paragraph: "men saw that effort, sincerity and emotional depth started paying off." I wonder if that is actually the case, or more the fact that before internet dating, with the closeness, proximity and organic interaction you mention, men were more the benefactors of a system that facilitated dating and partnerships as a way to cover up a deficiency of 'effort, sincerity and emotional depth.' Then when things op…

You could point to any number of examples in the animal kingdom where it's natural for the male to chase the female. Ie fighting other males for the opportunity to mate with the female, dancing for the female, following the female around for extended periods of time in the hope they notice her, evolving different colours, brightness, shapes, sizes etc. Are you suggesting these are not natural traits? Are we not, after all, still part of the animal kingdom at our most base biology? Eta: you use "…

I've noticed that this is pretty much just a red pill sub where men think they won't get challenged, or try to change other people's views. Like they need a safe space to soapbox from with generalised viewpoints like this to try and feel heard outside of their echo chambers.

I feel like it's lazy to chalk it up to laziness, without taking into account the psychology behind why people watch tv excessively, or spend too much time on phones. There are also societal factors to watching TV - who's to say those people watching their stupid shows on TV aren't using it to go into the office the next day and discuss with their friends/colleagues? That's a social outcome from watching. With social media though, it seems too simple to attack someone's decision making when it i…

You're on the right track... it's already been pointed out to you what a flawed statement rise of autism is when it's already underdiagnosed. Perhaps a better term would be the rise in recognition of autism? I'm not sure; either way I think it's clear people disagree with the semantics. The last sentence though, absolutely points to the rise in social media as a problem with socialising. I know you've pointed out [anecdotal] evidence that social media can be used as a form of connection but that…

Feel like it's unfair to put 'all women are treated this way' on the one side and on the men's side ' the ugly/short ones are treated like shit.' Beautiful people are treated better by society (usually) just by human nature and the way societies work. Ugly women absolutely would be seen as losers, invisible, not worth hearing their opinion. Hell, even beautiful, intelligent and dutifully qualified women are dismissed and spoken over in meetings and other professional contexts. Broad generalisati…

It's a fair question, because people probably can't recognise positive masculinity in the midst of the rest of clash of traditional and contemporary masculinity. But the commenter you're replying to gave you 4 - vulnerability, emotion, therapy, helping others (if those were it? I can't remember.) Part of it is being open to seeing examples of positive masculinity. That will take some emotional intelligence to recognise but it's also just coming at things with openness and curiosity, and the abil…

Exactly - reading these comments is hilarious. OP: What's an alternative to the Manosphere if the Manosphere is so bad? Everyone: I dunno, just like hold parties with your friends and whatever. With women, without women. Manosphere: we're victims of the system.

"You expect a physical/tangible gift and he takes you on an activity date. You expect an activity date and he gives you a physical/tangible gift." = you expect him to read your mind and can't; you have set unreasonable expectations *unless it has been discussed beforehand. A lot of this is just communication.

Could you expand on your last point - this is a form of gaslighting for men? I think everyone would agree that the younger a man - or woman - is, the less likely they are to be mature enough to have a successful marriage. To your points: Who is placing all of the value in men being successful with women as a sign of his worth? Is that what women are doing or is it what you perceive women to be doing? I've only ever usually seen that women want a man who knows what he is doing in life, can take c…

If you mean selfish then just say selfish. Asshole and rude are the same thing. You don't get to decide. Part of presenting a good argument is saying what you mean and not allowing the other side to pick at your semantics. Definitions of asshole seem to be a mix of stupid, contemptible and unpleasant. I'd like to know what part of that means selfish more than rude. Also, what do you mean by selfish? Selfish with time? So, they're dedicated to their goal? Are they selfish with the money they have…

You're all over the map with this nomenclature. If you mean selfish men, just say it. Assholes are rude. If you mean people that are dedicated, just say it. You mentioned in another comment athletes? People can be dedicated to their craft and not be rude. People can be dedicated to themselves and also not be selfish. People can be successful and nice. It sounds like projection for you to want things to be a certain way to confirm your worldview when they aren't that way in reality or, at least, …

It's exploiting biology, sure but not necessarily a biological need. Guys don't need to subscribe to onlyfans, pay to chat to women and watch porn. That's just the end game of a patriarchal, capitalistic society. Women are just playing their part within this system - using their biology to their advantage. No one would blame NBA players for playing NBA (although on the whole they do get paid disproportionately more for what they do for society as opposed to say, teachers.) If men really wanted t…

I can agree that attractiveness is subjective but there's no need to bodyshame people for something they have no control over. You've effectively countered everything you said about subjectivity.
