I'm quite convinced at this point, it doesn't. Violence against men is funny because "hahaha strong oaf hurt by precious flower". Violence against women is misogyny; jokes are taken out of context and analyzed until a broad generalization about men's attitudes is made. Hurting someone because your life doesn't transpire as you'd hoped is never funny.

I can certainly see how that adds gender to the discussion in some fashion, but I'd go so far as to say it's so ignorant that it offends all sexes; it demeans the male it's directed at by disparaging female genitals , and by extension would also offend some trans people. I fail to see that entirely. This could easily have been a girl, nothing suggests his gender was at all a factor. Furthermore, considering that - in my own experience and that of those close to me - boys are threatened with retaliation from the perp for being a "wuss" if they seek help from teachers, this article doesn't even mention such a stereotypically "man up" situation taking place at all. It's completely bereft of gender issues.

Aren't condoms regularly available at planned parenthood centers and the like these days? I'm in agreement that contraception should be a choice for all regardless of gender, and the same goes for that which is subsidized, but I'm very ill-informed about the state of male contraception subsidization in the US.

I have an issue with implying at all that the basal instinct of human kind is to abuse and assault. Any kid with a healthy set of parents should have role models good enough that they don't need to be explicitly told anything besides "no means no". The rest is just manners and common courtesy. I think the issue is that the post is required to "assume" the egalitarian aspect of feminism rather than support it.
