I was just offered a full scholarship at my local university and I'm only in my Freshman year of high school. In the area I dream of working in (technology) Treasure it, work hard, and grasp at opportunities that come your way. Enjoy the fruits of your labor when the time is ripe

After class, go up to your professor and tell him that you want an A. Then ask him what will it take for you to get an A. It's magic. How does that work when your 90% of your grade is solely determined by how well you do on quizzes and exams?

Lol, for real. I remember the first wedding I ever went to as a kid (even performed for the couple on stage). They're divorced now

the east Asian "exoticism". Does it work for males? In North America, this 'exoticism' is usually reserved for females

I would be more specific and say they lean more towards the Filippino kind of look. I was wondering more about the lighter skinned Asians (Chinese, Koreans, Japanese) etc

I remember following Chris pretty closely when he got famous on American Idol. When he talked about Juliana I honestly thought he would keep true to his word. Huh. How things change. Very interesting

I saw first hand how being tall really makes the game so much easier. Friend who is between 6'1 to 6'2 and I walked into a club and went to order drinks. He was one of (if not the most) tallest there. Literally not even 5 min when we stepped in and a woman tried to hit on him.

Not only that. I feel a lot of the vibe given off by 'alphas' is that they always put down other men. It's like they walk into any room and immediately judge in their head which guy is the 'loser beta' and then proceed to mentally shoot him down. There is no need for such animosity because frankly it speaks more about yourself as someone insecure in his own skin than the other person.

General consensus is tha finance and economics are usually 2 exceptions to that. In fact it's even more useful than certain Science subjects like Physics or Chemistry

The thing is though, I'm not a social retard and can definitely keep a conversation going if need be. But I genuinely don't make small talk like that because my mind rationalises to me that it's useless. Sure, we may have a great conversation, but 9.9 times out of 10 it will go nowhere and we will have to part ways. So what's the point of making small talk? (Unless for instance I genuinely want to know where to get that black bag). Why should I waste my time and breath making random chit chat to…

One of my Japanese friends who was dating this Swedish 8 was called countless racial slurs at a restaurant for being out with his girlfriend. Wow, is it really that bad? Racially abused out in the open at a restaurant? I mean, I understand if it's a drunken guy from a club, but to do that openly, while sober? That's barbaric

the great thing about working at Google is that you'll not only get a great starting salary and benefits, but you'll also have peers that are at the top of their game. As someone looking to break into the tech industry, I would kick someone whom I'd only known for a year or two to the curb for a job at Google. It's not just the pay and benefits, it's the entire 'brand', image and authority that you attach yourself to. You can literally open your mouth and everyone will believe what you say.

I am not making a point for religion. Anyone can be good or bad, and there are a variety of motivations / beliefs behind that. I am just pointing out something contrary to what the poster above me asserted.

Find the most loving human father in the world, and badly hurt his children in front of him. You will be dealing with a very angry ape, and potentially one with the ability to manipulate a hammer, a firearm, or a legal system to destroy you. Not really

Great post, but it's hard for me to visualise. Can you give me some examples of when a guy can be more confident? Examples of situations where acting one way is seen as weak but another as confident?

Fair enough. Could you share how you managed to get your first client? I'm looking to get into freelancing as well and I've reached out to a few people I know that runs online businesses but they don't need a new website redesign. Either that or they get tons of advertisements from all over the place and cold emailing them wouldn't stand me out.

I wake up at 6am every day even though school starts at 9. Hit the gym, do some sprints, then eat breakfast and prepare lunch. People start waking up when I'm leaving and ready to take on the day.

That's not my point. My point is that OP won the situation because his friend was on his side. Imagine this scenario: Girl:" Can I have a cigarette?" OP:" Not unless you show me your tits" Friend:" Woah! Hey there man, there's no way to treat a woman!" Hands over a cig to her, while giving OP a quizzical look Girl:" Wow, thanks!" stalks off squinting at OP and rejoins the other 4 guys OP still has his cigarettes, maintains frames, may be the AF in the group, but at the end of the day, the girl f…

The thing is though, you have to be very thankful that your friend is like you. Imagine if he was like one of those white knights and gave the gal a cig while looking at you oddly. You would be the one sticking out sorely and she would have went on her merry way.

I am finishing very soon. You definitely need top grades + outstanding extra curriculars for a chance at PSC/President Scholarship. Again it is too late but either way I definitely dont make the cut

Scholarship? If you mean from Singaporean firms, then no, because its too late to apply now and most importantly I hate being bonded to a corporation for 6 years. You need to actually get accepted to the elite ones before they give our financial aid... which I am not able to. I have offers from Aus and UK, but it really isnt my ideal destination (its either US or Canada), so i guess Ill stay local and then look for opportunities overseas for exchange / internship or after I graduate

What advice for someone that is the opposite? Im a Singaporean male and intend to major in CS and would like to study in the US. Cost is a huge factor though, so I might make that a destination in terms of career.
