It ain't a "spectrum". I'm guessing someone oversimplified to squeeze down to fitting on a single infographic, and with that, a whole lot of inaccuracies (and other sh*t) occurred. Not at all atypical when someone tries to take something data that's large, complex, and varied, and tries to turn it into some highly simplified presentation ... accuracy suffers, ... sometimes a whole helluva lot. Perhaps better title would be not "rape spectrum", but rather more like "grossly oversimplifed spectrum…

Oh, off the cuff, I might say something like, "Kind'a", or "I'm for equal rights." And, "of course", not everyone's definition of "feminist" is the same, so it's not exactly a simple yes/no question, without at least defining what the heck one is talking/asking about.

Not so much matter of better or worse, it's what grabs folks attention and interest, and the media generally feeds / panders to that ... cute little white girl gets abducted ... all over the news - for days or even more. Black boy abducted ... uhm, have we ever even seen that reported on the news? Well, hardly, if at all. How many go watch the movie or TV special about some abducted white girl? Yeah, lots. Similar story about a black boy? Uhm ... So, things often don't get the levels of attentio…

Doesn't much matter. Can't sign away rights of a minor child. That ain't how that works. Kid is generally entitled to child support. And the way to avoid that whole mess is to do it fully proper and legal, per the relevant (e.g. state) jurisdiction. Mess that up and ... one just "won" 18+ years of child support payments. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Don't be an ignorant fool. But hey, child support ... he's got parental rights ... can sue for custody and/or visitation ... maybe not rights …

licensed physician must be involved in an artificial insemination process Yep, pretty much that way across all the US. That's why you consult a family law attorney, or do it proper through a reputable licensed sperm bank. Don't be a fool and think one can just write up some documents or take somebody else's written documents, sign it and be good. Do it well proper and legal. If one doesn't, then one is legally parent- and with the obligations, responsibilities, and rights thereof. So ... he can …

Women claim to be strong and independent Don't overgeneralize. About as (un)true as men claim to be strong and independent. most want a man to lead, protect, be chivalrous, and they hold men to stereotypes they claim to hate Results vary. May quite depend where/how you're picking/selecting/attracting "these" women. There's quite the huge variety out there. Finding and attracting, etc. the one(s) you want, however ... that may be quite to highly challenging. And humans tend to be quite the mess/p…

Don't forget, Russian is the aggressor here, Ukraine is fighting and defending itself for it's very continued existence, so it's a sh*t situation. And yes, government there by the will of the people, is gonna restrict males - most notably of eligible fighting age - from leaving in general - some countries do or would likewise restrict women, and yeah, can certainly quite debate that inequality, but they really need do what they have to for the country and its people to survive. prenup is often a very good idea. But it needs be mutually beneficial - no reason for both parties to sign it if it's not. if I really loved her I wouldn't need legal protection Back at her - marriage is (mostly) a civil contract, with legal protection (and various rights, benefits, etc.). The GNU Bash Reference Manual is also in the Epstein files. Don't make too much merely of something/someone being in there. Context and details are relevant. Epstein rubbed shoulders (or a lot more) with lots of notable people, and he was also involved with philanthropy, etc., so not all contacts are with guilty parties. Heck, lot of victims in the Epstein files too - though mostly redacted - especially if underage victims.

"1%" - really quite depends how one measures, and even defines. So, e.g., there's quite a difference between throwing some false reports on social media, vs. making false police report(s) - the latter is a criminal offense in most if not all jurisdictions, whereas the former is not (though may be a civil matter). Most won't go so far as filing a false police report. There's also question/matter of, e.g. mistaken identities, etc. Sometime false reports are mistaken, rather than intentional - that…

Be careful what you wish for, you may get it. And, of course, don't marry a lazy thankless *sshole. But you already know that, right? ... right? Also, don't fall for the lost(/sunk) fallacy effect. E.g. if you make a crud choice, maybe don't continue with that choice for 25+ years. Remember, your life, your choices, choose wisely.

Yeah, document, collect evidence, and yeah, lawyer. If you're not legally father, you're kind'a screwed. That's why you should've straightened that out long ago. All kinds of sh*t can go sideways if you're not legally the father. Basically you're not legally the father, you're essentially "playing dad", but not legally the father. E.g. mom dies in car crash, kids get sucked away to some relative of hers in some foreign country ... 'cause legally you ain't the father. Kid gets in serious trouble …

It varies. E.g. one position I worked out, my boss was a woman, as was also my grandboss, grandboss, great-grandboss, and great-great-grandboss. Other places I've worked, it's been (damn near) all men, and all men all the way up the chain. And yeah, both same general field of work.

Yeah, well, really no shortage of blame to go around. Yes, or course, some men that are crud to women, but alas, likewise some women too. And not necessarily in same ways, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's any less damaging or harmful. And stuff like "beauty standards" for women, yeah, absolutely, no shortage of blame to be spread around.

Uhm, no, they didn't kill more than 3 people, most jurisdictions, male or female, they make bail, they're generally gonna be cut loose and out on bail 'till trial. But if they kill three or more people after making bail, and before trial, then they might get held in jail 'till trial.

Of course there's not consensus - even here. Ask 100 folks here, probably get at least 105 opinions. Abortion is a (moderately) complex topic. Ought be a lot simpler, but alas, everybody wants to have a say and opinion (at least for the most part), not to mention also religion and goop like that, and legal, and medical and safety, and practical ... so, yeah, it ends up being rather messy ... probably a whole lots messier than it need or ought be, but ... well ... here we are.

May vary by jurisdiction, but in general, legally, marriage is a civil contract. And, as such, it can be modified, most notably if both parties mutually agree. So, prenups, posnups - all highly doable. Can to a large/huge extent, change what one would otherwise get by default - most notably in the civil contract of marriage between the two. Domestic violence and child support are two different things, don't conflate the two. The child support is for the kid(s), not the ex, that's what, e.g. alimony is for. Don't want to pay child support? Fight for fully custody - but the costs of having fully custody will generally be substantially more than paying child support. So, be careful what you wish for, you may get it.

Can a man be raped? Depends upon definition of rape - and that will also vary in both common definition, and legal definition, so, different times, different places, common usage vs. legal, the definitions will vary, and often change/(d)evolve over time. But sexually assaulted? Absolutely, no question about that. But exactly what forms of sexual assault do/don't fit under definition of rape, will vary by context. “Guys can’t be raped” So, both true, and false. Quite depends on context.

Relative lack of support structures/connections - women will often have more of that (typically societal/social thing), and also political/social thing, e.g. look at comparative relative lack of support for men, e.g. that are homeless, are victims of abuse or sexual abuse, etc. Attitudes - in general men get less support, including general societal, etc. attitudes - typically more so expected to take care of themselves, so if/when they need help (e.g. mental, whatever), there's generally much le…

If you count every dodohead that speaks some words or tosses something on social media or the like, the %s will be way higher. There's also higher % with younger adults and kids ... notably because ... well, imma…

think feminist lies and violence are the result of mental illness or are they deliberately evil? Quite depends upon the person so doing - could well be either, or even some of both. And yeah, some will be mentally ill - even seriously so. And others not mentally ill, but just plain nasty/"evil". And ... lots between and/or mix thereof. And certainly not that all (or even necessarily most) feminists do such, but, among their ranks can also be quite found ...

prenup's get thrown out all the time Not if you do 'em proper and legal. Alas, many screw up on that. And what it takes for them to be binding and enforceable, will vary quite a bit, depending upon jurisdiction ... hence lawyer/attorney for both parties is highly advised - and in some jurisdictions even required for the prenup/postnup to be valid (and some of course also have additional requirements and/or limitations). Your "old" female "friend" ... is she like 12, or 112? She has way too much control over what I feel Yeah, but now how you act, and react, and behave. She doesn't control you, you control yourself.

Anyway, if there's any serious question about it, best to get a legally admissible paternity test done, and as soon as feasible. Also, many jurisdictions, if paternity isn't challenged in some reasonable period of time, that mostly can't be legally changed later ... and yes, that might be legally (un)fair for t…

Why do some people yell at men that women don’t owe them a relationship, when these men are depressed and just want to vent about their inability of finding a partner? Because some (men) act/behave/talk like they're owed a relationship (from women). And that's not okay - nobody owes anybody a relationship. I have a crush on you is sexual harassment As I said, context matters ... and we're missing a whole lot of the context here. "Private conversation" was mentioned, but nothing regarding the more full context of that, what conversations and interactions they had before that, etc. Unless he is persistent or Exactly ... we don't know the context ... so may, or may not, constitute sexual harassment.
/r/MensRights05/01/22 07:53 AM

Ah, if only it were that simple. It can still be sexual harassment even the first time he does it, and even if she doesn't say no or stop. Really depends a whole lot as to what, and context.
/r/MensRights05/01/22 07:39 AM

Naw, sit back, gather evidence as feasible, legal, and within applicable policies (e.g. school policies). Regardless of who starts any formal complaint process, it could end quite badly, so probably better not to risk it. Filing complaint, even first may be seen as retaliatory - e.g. may be viewed that he filed complain because she did (or he thought she did or would) ... that can also go quite badly.

Yes, ... some have taken offense now to "black and white" - as in TV or movies or ... hell, I dunno, the hot and neutral electrical wires in one's home (at least USA/Canada). Yeah, at some point things start to get absurd.
/r/MensRights05/01/22 07:33 AM
4

Ah ... if life were so simple! :-) In many/most contexts, yeah, ... but life ... and sexual harassment - it's more complex than that. E.g. some good looking - by objective standards - woman walks by a construction site with whole lot 'o guys, and they're yelling out, "Hey beautiful!" - that alone probably constitutes sexual harassment, but absolutely once she's told them to stop and they persist. So, ... weirdly, something can be both a complement and sexual harassment ... egad.

Context matters ... we're missing important details ... notably that "private conversation" - what was the nature and context of that "private conversation", what conversations/dialogs/interactions had taken place between these two before ... we're pretty much entirely missing all that background detail on the context of that "private conversation" ... so without that information, really don't have enough to know if what he said in that context - without those details - if it did or did not or m…

definition is left to the 'victim' Well, ... both yes and no. If the target doesn't consider it sexual harassment, then it may not be. But there's still potential of, e.g. workplace policy or school policy or the like deciding otherwise ... but if nobody's objecting or notices or cares, there may be negligible risk there. But if target believes it to be sexual harassment, that doesn't make it so. E.g. you or I say a perfectly innocent "Hello." to someone, if they believe it to be sexual harassme…

when she is not attracted to you Come on, grow up, that's not how sexual harassment works. Not how it works legally, and not how it works regarding victim/claimant making a claim. Victim/claimant can make the claim regardless. And sure, stuff like attracted, or repulsed, or scared, or whatever, might change the odds of victim/claimant making a claim, but legally it's the same - it's sexually harassment ... or it's not. repeating the threat while wearing a wire Unless duly authorized law enforcement sets him up with that, may not be legal, at least in many jurisdictions. On the other hand, having one's phone on, and speaker/sound off but not muted, and someone listening on the other side ... more likely that would be legal ... but again, will vary by jurisdiction (I don't think we've even said what country this is in).

No, it ain't that simple. Context matters. And just because he said/did something once, she said no, and he never did it again - that's not a free pass. Random example, two neighbors, M, and F, in same apartment building, happen to get into same elevator at same time, nobody else. Doors close. M says to F: "I wanna f*ck your brains out and father your babies." - That's gonna definitely count as sexual harassment in most all cases (presuming they're relative strangers to each other and have no su…

Yep, this ... mostly - document, gather evidence, etc. - "just in case". Better to have and not need, than need and not have. Does sexual harassment? Context matters ... a lot. Gender isn't even particularly relevant. Let's say we've got two coworkers, A, and B. If what was said, when, how, where, context was reasonable, and most typically wouldn't take offense to it - that's not going to be sexual harassment. How would he like it if that brain tumor in his head - all the medical decisions about what to do and/or not do about it ... were not his choice, but the choice of some woman he had sex with 2 months ago?

Yeah, if it's US based law firm, and they cover family law. Varies a bit state-to-state ... but not all that much. Ask 'em to what extent parents can give away the rights of a child - e.g. like parent give up parental rights - and see how easily they can give up all child support obligations. Bit different if both parents want to give the kid up for adoption ... but if one parent is keeping the kid, and the other wants to get away from any and all child support obligations ... you ask 'em how ea…

Doesn't exactly work like that. Parent can waive and give up their rights, but that doesn't relieve them from obligations to the child - i.e. child support. In general, one can't give away the rights of a child - the child has rights to that support. Now, if the kid turns 18, and wants to pay all that back, they can ... yeah, good luck with that.

Let's see ... cost of raising a kid ... about a quarter million dollars - at least that's pretty typical ... figure about half of that is your responsibility ... and you'll be expected to contribute more if you've got more assets/income. And yeah I think Louis C.K. is a friggin' excellent comic genius, so sure, I'm at least a wee bit biased here. But I think despite the crud he did, he's also done a lot of great/excellent work. No, not the same at all. Ovulation occurs in women, they need take specific action to not do that, and there are negative health impacts and/or risks in stopping ovulation from occurring. Men don't have to take some specific action to not have their sperm placed where a pregnancy can result, but rather the reverse - they need to be doing specific thing(s) to get their sperm where pregnancy can result. Not something they have to be doing, and doesn't require medical intervention to be not doing t…

Not (as) unfair as you might think. Woman can just as well be forced into 18 years of ... well, not parenthood, but like the man, child support. E.g., baby is born, she's unfit mom, dad takes custody, she's on the hook for child support ... 18 years. In many cases, the father is awarded custody and the woman has to pay child support - often even very substantially so (based on income and ability to pay, etc.). And 9 months of pregnancy isn't an "excuse". Somebody's carrying fetus for 9 months, w…

He can ... at least partly. He can generally be involved, ... or not. And he can provide sperm (and with that attendant risk of pregnancy and child), or not. But that doesn't free him (or either parent) from cost obligations. After all, it's not the fault of the child - and born kid deserves to be reasonably supported ... can't exactly force folks to be reasonable parents ... but, if they can't do anything else, they can generally be reasonably coerced to pay child support as feasible and approp…

Let's change the scenerio ... slightly ... Baby is born, she doesn't want to keep the kid, he does, she gives him custody. Then they both change their minds (now he doesn't want to keep it and she does) - he puts it up for adoption under safe haven/harbor/surrender laws, he doesn't need her consent (e.g. just drops baby off at firestation or whatever). She is not even aware of the child being surrendered / given up for adoption, and can't consent to it. And consent to sex isn't consent to parent…

Well, sort of kind of. But the woman is the one that gets pregnant and who's body hosts the growing fetus, and has all the detrimental effects and risks, etc. from that. That's also not fair. And, no, for men, consent to needn't be consent to parenthood. Be highly responsible about birth control ... like exceedingly so. No sperm, no pregnancy. Having sex doesn't necessitate delivering sperm or placing it somewhere where pregnancy may result. So, it's not men consenting to sex that may lead to pa…

It's not that simple. The state/government has an interest in the parents supporting the born child. If they're not going to raise, etc., the child, they're going to generally want to collect child support. Possible exception being if the child is given up for adoption and adopted. Otherwise, the state will want to ensure child support is collected and paid for the benefit of the child.

Oh, they generally get some determination - like parental rights, after baby is born, but before that, no, not much. As soon as the men start carrying the pregnancy, then they get to make those choices regarding the fetus. For most intents and purposes, until it's born, it's part of the woman's body - and entirely dependent upon - and has quite all the impacts upon - that carrying host, therefore decisions regarding fetus are the right and responsibility of the pregnant carrying host.
/r/MensRights08/10/20 01:04 AM

Genetically, yes, half and half, but until it's born, it's for most all intents and purposes a part of the body that's carrying it. Would you want someone else deciding what you could/couldn't do with something growing in your body - and with little to no regard to the impacts of that growth to your body, life, health, and safety? What if you were raped? Still want that other person making that decision for you, or having equal say on what's growing in your body? What if they say it wasn't rape,…

If the guy doesn't want the responsibility, he can not put his sperm there. Woman can give up her parental rights, but that doesn't remove the father's parental rights - so no, she can't just go adopting the kid out and deny the father his parental rights. But also, her body, her choice - at least until it's the guy who's pregnant and carrying the fetus - then that would flip the other way round.
/r/MensRights07/10/20 01:19 PM
-8

She's right - her body, her choice. Guy gets to choose what (consensually) can be done with his sperm. After that, no longer his choice. When women start shooting their eggs into guys and guys get pregnant, then it'll be the guy's choice. Until then, it's not.

No. False accusations (civil), & criminal - filing false police report, etc., those are serious matters. Legally may possibly depend upon jurisdiction, but under many(/most?) jurisdictions, your teacher is incorrect. Most laws defining rape have generally been updated to be defined in terms of thing(s) being inserted in certain body orifices - thus generally requiring neither penis nor vagina, and generally require orifice being sexual (or anus), or what's inserted being sexual (e.g. penis), so typically finger in mouth wouldn't be rape, but penis into <whatever> or <whatever> into vagina or anus w…
