You're likely correct. Unfortunately, a lot of people won't bother reading past the headline.

What do you feel strongly about? Interestingly, this led me to a quick check on Amazon to see if they sold posters relating to domestic violence (something I feel strongly about). I'd say most were gender neutral (just a purple ribbon and slogan), but everything else was for women. But otherwise, as someone said, you're probably going too far. What statistics do you want? A suicide comparison chart? Not the type of thing I'd want to put on my wall...

Some states have laws requiring that now, but good to see either way.

I wish there were actual statistics of how many men and women do this. Interesting that all of their anecdotes are women though...

She has a history of domestic violence. I'm not sure how well TMZ explained that, but here's one example I found in 5 second of googling: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/29/stormy-daniels-arrested-f_n_247098.html

Honestly, the TMZ FB comments make fun of everyone who comes up (for the most part)...but I do think the comments would look a lot different if it were a celebrity woman filing a restraining order against her husband.

I got a chuckle...hopefully, most of the readers are getting the joke.

Honestly, two ways to see this... It's a pretty innocuous question, so for someone to get offended or "triggered" is probably being a little extreme. It kind of depends on context, as I doubt very few guys would say, "Hi, my name is Bob. Can you cook?" That said, the point is that we shouldn't expect women to conform to normal gender roles, just as we wouldn't want to be. I've seen way too many posts on here about men getting shafted in child custody cases, because women are thought to be better…

I hear you. Dating can be sh*tty, but there are definitely good women out there.

This is silly. Are there entitled women out there? Of course. But there are entitled dudes too. I've seen plenty of women wait hand and foot on their boyfriends/husbands and get very little in return. It's not a mens rights issue. It's a some people are a**holes issue. That said, I'm sorry if you've personally been in toxic relationships like this...hopefully, you're not in one currently. Please take my word that there are good women out there who will appreciate what you do for them.

As an FYI, this is a misattributed quote. It came from Kevin Alfred Strom, who said it in 1993. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Alfred_Strom That doesn't necessarily invalidate it, but just keep in mind, the meme is wrong.

Eh, there's one commenter, and they seem to back down pretty quickly. I'm not a big fan of trying to find sexism when it isn't there, but it almost seems like you're looking for feminism when it isn't there.

What does this have to do with men's rights? Would a woman not have been fined for the same thing? *Note, I'm not personally offended by it, but most sports would have fined him.

If that's not outright illegal, that's pretty f'ed up. And for that matter, stupid. I don't know why you'd close yourself off to potentially better candidates, but if you are set on it, just don't respond to their applications.

I have no problem with it as long as there is the same one (but for women) in the women's room...and I'm guessing there isn't.

What are you referring to? I have always worked out at a co-ed gym, and it's fine. I lift a lot with free weights (mainly barbells), and honestly, most of the women in the gym are too intimidated to enter that area. And the ones that do are generally serious lifters. I've never had a problem with a woman even hinting that I was taking up her space in the gym. Yes, women do have their own gyms, so men should be able to have them too. However, unless someone's training for a real competition or so…

That's an example. If you'd prefer something with more "important" implications...female privilege also exists in custody battles and domestic assault situations,
/r/MensRights15/04/18 01:29 AM
7

I prefer to think of "privilege" as your advantages. I work in sales, where half the battle is just getting a few minutes of face time with a potential client. There is absolutely "female privilege" in this type of situation, as women can usually achieve this foot in the door a lot more easily (even more so, if they're attractive). Men have privileges in other situations, and I'd say it's naive to deny that.

I'm saying that I'm not going to take a bunch of teens making dumb jokes on Twitter very seriously. I would roll my eyes if feminists took a screen shot of Twitter dudes making fun of fat women to demonstrate "how sexist men are," and likewise, I'm not going to take these women very seriously either. I do get your point of the double standard though.
/r/MensRights21/02/18 01:25 AM

I mean, it's Twitter. Honestly, I'm sure I can find a bunch of dudes saying some non-PC things without a lot of repercussions too.

I'm not sure what single comment could change your mind, since it sounds like you've made it up already. I agree that sometimes, this sub becomes less about mens rights and more about complaining about and putting down women. However, there are also a lot of very intelligent, well-reasoned posts in here that are worth looking at and reading. Pretty much everything in the media is pro-women and pro-feminist, so it's good to try to see things from the "other side" too. Men are dealing with a lot o…

I honestly don't think she was trolling...I think she legitimately believes that. The response does nothing more than reinforce her existing narrative that men are assholes.
/r/MensRights10/01/17 07:39 PM
8

Eh, that's just someone trolling with the sole purpose of being a douchebag, and it isn't exactly helpful. I'd rather see someone question the OP, asking what she's doing to change the situation. Has she taken steps to getting her MBA and working through a company to become a CEO, or is her contribution complaining on Facebook?

I haven't seen it (haven't actually seen the trailer), but I'm willing to bet you're giving Hollywood script writers far too much credit, who will make the story as simple as possible. It's the simple formula of big budget movie with a couple of attractive stars falling in love. Nothing more, nothing less.
/r/MensRights29/12/16 06:08 PM

I see that side of it too... I guess I'd rather try to take the "high road" and concern myself with real issues than to follow the SJW's example of nit-picking joke articles, even if it is a double standard.
/r/MensRights29/12/16 05:40 PM

The article isn't funny, but it's such obvious satire, I don't know how you can be offended about it.

I feel like tennis is a little bigger in Europe...but yes, soccer will always be king there.
/r/MensRights28/12/16 02:34 AM

It probably has more to do with her sport than being female. Here in the USA, tennis just isn't that huge. Anyone who does follow tennis (and many who don't) readily acknowledge that she's a great (the greatest?) player, but she's just never going to be in the conversation with Jordan, Babe Ruth, or Jerry Rice, because Americans care much more about team sports. Even Tiger Woods rarely gets brought up when speaking of dominant athletes.

There are definitely Movember frames available. That's obviously over, but you can still use them. Otherwise, there are literally dozens and dozens of non-gender frames available ranging from anti-cancer to autism awareness (which is much more of a male issue, BTW) to hunger awareness. This doesn't seem like anything to get to worked up about.

I think most of the major ideas have been brought up already, but one other... It's just not necessary these days. I won't say that sexist hiring managers are out there, but it's such a rarity these days that a quota is really isn't needed. I'm actually in the process of looking for a new job. Pretty much every HR rep I've spoken to has been female. Seriously, at least 90% of them. Sure, a few male bosses might make the final decision, but I've interviewed with all women.
/r/MensRights20/12/16 02:59 PM
15

100% this. My sister is a doctor, and she's legitimately one of the smartest people I know (much more so than I am). She hates the notion of quotas for these exact reasons. She could have any job she wants, but can't stand the idea that someone might think she's just a "diversity hire."
/r/MensRights20/12/16 02:55 PM

Don't understand why you're against this? It helps enforce the notion that men can be great parents...which down the line could even lead to more balanced custody (one of the recurring hot topics on this reddit). Plus, as noted, it actually will be convenient for men who do have kids.

I saw this on Deadspin. It was pretty discouraging to see most of the comments were of a pretty jokey nature. I know that's what they do on that site, but I can't imagine it would play that way if Smith burned his girlfriend.

You should take a peak at the Amazing Atheist on youtube if you don't already. He's very good at shutting down a lot of SJW arguments. He's (obviously) atheist and bisexual, so he comes from somewhat marginalized groups himself, which gives a little extra "street cred" to his arguments.

Okay. The link provided clearly states, "Ms Mathers faces a charge of invasion of privacy." BBC is pretty reputable, so I'll go with them.

I see both sides. She shouldn't have swung at someone without expecting some type of repercussion. That said, it's tough for me to see someone fighting for her life as a "win" for anything.

TBH, I don't know fully what this is, but if you're going to cook like that, of course you'll go viral for your bulge. And honestly, if some hot chick went viral for cooking in her bra and panties, I doubt most women would (or could) really have much to say about it. The point is to go viral for a reason like that.

What makes you say it's just an assumption? Nate Silver is fairly well regarded for using real polls and statistics to produce his forecasts. He was extremely accurate four years ago, so I have no reason to believe he won't be again this time around.

This seems unlikely to change anyone's opinion. That said, I'm a Clinton supporter, and I appreciate seeing an article written from this perspective. If you're a Trump supporter, maybe this will easy your mind a little (as it seems likely she'll win now).
/r/MensRights23/10/16 10:58 PM

The problem is you created a paradox: either Clinton is a hypocrite, but there is a wage gap...or there is no wage gap and Clinton is just paying her staff what they're worth. And for the record, I'm sure it's the latter. They mention the salaries of two specific people. I would fully expect the male CEO to make more than the female staff assistant (and I think even most women would too). So, really this proves nothing.

Interesting article, but so what if they added a few female emojis? As long as they're not adding them at the expense of male ones, I don't see the issue. In fact, the article mentions that they specifically added a few male ones as well, so sounds good all around to me.

Interesting metrics they chose for the study. It seems the US is mainly hurt by two factors: low proportion of women in Congress and teenage fertility rate. The first is already "correcting" itself. Regardless of your feelings for her, Clinton will probably be the next president. In addition, yes our members of Congress are mostly male, but three of our eight Justices of the Supreme Court (a more prestigious position than Congressman) are women. As for the second...well, our health education in …

Do real women ever actually threaten that? It seems like one of those sitcom things that would never happen in real life...or at least very rarely.

I actually thought this was kind of funny. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
/r/MensRights03/10/16 06:02 PM

I'd agree if she unfairly got the job over a man because of some type of quota or whatever. However, we have no context here, making it no different than some stupid video women would show of "idiotic men" not knowing how to use makeup or cook or something.
/r/MensRights30/09/16 04:46 PM
3

And? I mean, yeah, I got a good chuckle out of it too, but a woman struggling isn't a mens rights issue. Tomorrow I'm sure someone will post how it's unfair that only men have to register for the draft. If you're going post stuff like this and say women are unfit for the military, what's the difference?
/r/MensRights30/09/16 03:25 AM

You're setting up an extreme comparison. I honestly don't think that Hillary:Men::KKK:Black People. If that's the way you feel, then the best I can tell you is that if she is elected, I really don't think it will be as bad as you think it will be in terms of mens rights. And again, I'm really not sure what you think Trump will do for men. If you like him for other reasons, then okay, but then it's not a mens rights issue. That will be my last word on it, because people obviously get heated over …

We all have pros and cons for each candidate that we need to negotiate for ourselves. I just don't think a man should automatically be labeled a "traitor to his gender" if he happens to agree with Clinton's policies. I know of women who are voting for Clinton simply because she's a woman, which I think is stupid. It would be hypocritical to do the same.
/r/MensRights28/09/16 05:01 PM
6

No, it just means that there are larger interests at play. Sometimes you have to put the good of the country (which benefits men and women) ahead of mens rights (which I don't really see Trump doing anything for anyway).
/r/MensRights27/09/16 08:29 PM

That's awful. I don't mind seeing a little karma for a woman who cheats, but I'm thinking more like a pigeon poops on her head or something.

I guess this is supposed to be satire, because the headlines are so "outrageous," but maybe the articles have some points if you actually--you know--read them.

All of these percentage "x% of y is poisoned" metaphors are trash. Some percentage of EVERY GROUP is going to be "poison." Yes, that includes men, but also women. Also Christians, Muslims, whites, blacks, Asians, dwarfs, stock brokers, teachers, etc...a certain percentage of teachers have sex with their students, go ahead eat a handful of teachers.
/r/MensRights20/09/16 01:53 PM

"I believe male teachers are held to different standards than female teachers when issues like this arise." Maybe, but I'm honestly not sure that's the case here. This seems more like a conservative town over-reacting to teacher using the proper nomenclature for anatomy at an appropriate time. It's an issue of overprotective parents not letting teachers teach. Anyway, a worthwhile read, but I'd agree that it's not really a mens rights issue.

/r/MensRights07/09/16 03:51 AM

Bottom line is that everyone has certain things they feel "entitled" to but don't always have the means to take advantage of it. The idea that entitlement is a male (or white) notion is stupid.
/r/MensRights03/09/16 05:51 PM

What does that have to do with anything? That's like telling a cop you pay his salary so he shouldn't ticket you. The patrons are paying the bouncers to keep the venue and equipment secure, not to let women (or anyone else) walk wherever they want.
/r/MensRights03/09/16 05:49 PM

I'm still not sure I understand the point of this post. Even if we accept this fact as 100% undeniably true, so what? I'm American, so admittedly, I don't know everything the Labour party stands for, but I really can't see what you're getting at.

I don't even understand what "WELCOME TO MY LIFE..." is supposed to mean? If she's a stay at home mom, that's fine if she wants a little peace at the end of the day, but he probably works so she and Oliver can eat, so he deserves some peace too.
/r/MensRights23/08/16 01:49 PM

I don't really see where you're going with that analogy, but to apply your example...if Kerry Walsh Jennings (the good looking female volleyball player) got drunk and trashed a gas station and lied about it, I would not cut her any slack. Thus, I will not cut Lochte any slack either.
/r/MensRights23/08/16 03:25 AM

I'm not a big fan of hearing about his "white male privilege," but why should I cut him some slack, because he's a stud. I didn't cut that Playboy model (who took the picture of the naked fat chick) any slack, so why should I do it for him?
/r/MensRights23/08/16 02:00 AM

That's really not the same thing. This dude shouldn't have gotten shit over his outfit in the same sense that a businesswoman who wears a short skirt shouldn't get shit in her office. Sexual harassment is never right (against a man or woman) regardless of what they're wearing.
/r/MensRights22/08/16 03:10 PM

The key takeaway from the article for me was that 58.5% of NBC's primetime coverage is of womens sports. A great refutation next time someone tries to tell you their coverage has been sexist.
/r/MensRights19/08/16 11:49 AM

Unsurprising, I suppose. Women generally earn less over their lifetimes and live longer. Healthcare costs during old age seems to be the biggest expenditure, so those extra few years really can make a difference.

This one seems like a non-issue. A medal for doubles tennis is still a medal (not half a medal as the author is claiming). When a basketball team wins a gold medal, I wouldn't consider that 1/12 of a medal. This isn't written with such a slant, I can't take it seriously anyway.
